Alex picked up my 10 year old riding mower that wouldn’t start because of a head gasket issue and had it back running better than ever before the next mow was due. He also fixed an overheating problem, changed the blades, and leveled and raised the deck so it no longer scalps in spots. I will definitely use him again.

I hired this company to fix my lawn mower and after picking it up from the house, he fixed it for $1400, and brought it back. We watched from the cameras that he test drove the lawn mower after putting it in the garage and when we drove it, it only went half as fast and grinded when turning left. I called him and he said our hydro pumps were broken and its best to trade it in because it'll be expensive to fix and it will only go half as fast now. I called him again to have him come out since it started leaking oil and he said via text that he would be back in a week to pick it up and that it was "okay to drive & cut the back yard in the meantime". The lawn mower never had these prior to him touching it so we brought it to the lawn mower dealer and they said he installed the belt wrong which damaged the lines on the mower and caused fluid leaks and nothing was wrong with the pumps to cause this issue as it was impossible for the pumps to affect speed. It was fixed in the tune of $450 and I called Alex to see if he could make it right by only meeting me half way at refunding me $250 considering the damage he did to the mower and he said he would make it right by fixing it and that he knew the belt was installed wrong. He then hung up on me when I asked why he would tell me it's okay to drive the mower when he knew the belt was installed wrong and he hung up on me. If you do not want your lawn mower broken and having to take it to an actual authorized dealer to fix it correctly and being by overcharged, I would not recommend him.

Mr. Jackson was prompt, diagnosed the problem expertly and fixed it on the spot. Very courteous , professional and did a very neat job. It was a great job for a very fair price.

Mr. Jackson picked up our mower, fixed it and brought it back within 24 hours! He fixed the belt, changed the blades and oil and cleaned it up so it looked brand new! He was responsive, honest, he didn’t try to up sell or over sell. He’s got lifelong customers whether he wants us or not! He’s the only one we’ll use for our mower and other small engine repairs!

Affordable tree service did an outstanding job trimming several trees in our yard last week. Their estimate was very fair, they arrived early (unheard of!), and cleaned-up thoroughly afterward. While they were there I asked them to do a number of additional limbs, which they did at reasonable additional cost. Very professional and I would hire them again in a heartbeat.

He did excellent work right at my house for an outstanding price. You can go wrong using him.

Lawnmower was "repaired," but continued to have a starting problem. It is now a year and half later and the mower won't start at all. $385 could have been a good down payment on a new riding mower!

Alex is very responsive, he called me back the day I left a message and came a couple of days later to fix my very old riding mower. As he sharpened my mower's blades, he advised that my almost 20 year old mower was nearing the end, which was quite accurate. He stated that he had a John Deere riding mower that another client had sold him and asked if I would like to try it out and possibly purchase it, he added that he would include the price of the mower conditioning on my old mower in the price he charged me for the Deere. Several days later, he stopped by with the Deere and I tried it out. It cut very well and I traded in my old mower and purchased it. I am very pleased with the Deere and appreciate Alex's easy sell manner. For a very reasonable price I now have a better mower than before and I'm sure it will give me years of mowing. Thanks, Alex.

My main point: get a firm understanding of what you want him to do. If you just want the problem fixed, say so. Especially if you can do the other maintenance items yourself and don't want to pay for the things you can do. Other issues: seems very aware of the reviews he gets, but had no idea his posting says he accepts credit cards and offers a senior discount. He only takes checks. He also declined the senior discount since he already "gave me a discount". I told him I only needed the carb fixed. That cost me $50 last year with another tech. He lowered the price to $85 which is more than I paid, but much better than $150. I didn't consider that a discount, but more in line with a carb repair, not a discount. If he was discounting his normal repair, then he would have also changed the spark plug. He did not. Picked up mower promptly. Told me he would check it out and call me with what he finds. Called with $150 repair charge. Since I pay $300 at most for a mower and paid $50 last year, I was not going to invest another $150. I would just buy a new mower and told him so. Told him thanks, but no thanks. He then said it was already taken apart. Then told me the other things he was going to do: new plug, sharpen blade. Told him I just sharpened the blade on grinder and I can change my own plug and filter. Just fix the problem. Told him to just bring it back. He then said the work would cost $85. I ok'd that. When he dropped it off and I said I had issues with the repair costs, he said " the bill from the last repair was $150. No it wasn't. It clearly said $50. Did he base his estimate on that ? I hope not. I might use him again.

We called him and set up a date. He called before he came, and quickly went to work. It runs great and we can turn it off properly (had to pull the spark-plug cap) and he even cleaned the underside. Alex Jackson did a great job (better than the places you drop off and wait 4 weeks) and was a pleasure to do business with. We will call him again.

He did a great job and was quick, punctual and efficient. I have only used the mower for a short period of time to run it out of gas for storage until the Spring. It seemed to be working well except for some resistance with the automatic forward thrust which wasn't noticeable earlier which I hope is just tight due to maintenance.

Highly recommend Alex. He came to pick up our riding mower, replaced the blade and spindle and returned in two days at very reasonable price. Will definitely use again!!

Very fast service. He picked up and delivered. Very friendly and knowledgeable! I am keeping his number for life! He also works on generators and golf carts.

Lonnie Jackson of ABC Lawn Mower arrived very promptly and picked up my mower for servicing/repair. It was returned a few days later with the mower serviced, the blade sharpened, and the carburetor rebuilt. I tried starting the mower while the service man was there -- in fact he asked me to start it. It started perfectly(!) but the real test for that mower was whether it would start after sitting for a week. I can report that the mower started very easily after sitting, and has continued to run flawlessly. I consider this rather amazing since just a few weeks earlier I was totally disgusted with this mower and was ready to throw it away. Lonnie Jackson provides prompt and excellent service! I will be using this service from now on!

Vendor declined Deal through Angie's List upon arrival to pick up mower for repair. He requires mowers to be "working" which he defined as readily started in order to receive the Tune-up Deal. (NOTE: your current Deals for his work still omit his specific requirement, so has he mentioned it to you yet to avoid other misunderstandings?) He considered my mower as "not working" since starting fluid needed (but, curiously, not because of disabled control-bar cable bracket), blaming YOU for neglecting to mention this requirement for Deal eligibility (in other words, it was not his fault I did not qualify). He told me to request refund, declining your mention that "estimates can be given for larger repairs; offer will be applied toward larger repairs." For direct payment, he said he could give me a "better price" for tune-up and cable replacement because his on-site inspection indicated to him that the bracket alone could not be separated from the cables, thus requiring the combo of cables and bracket be replaced. He could not estimate the costs for tune-up and cable+bracket repair, so I told him to limit charges to $150. He returned the mower evening of 8/4/17. Invoice was for $150 for "1) repair cables, 2) rebuild carburetor, and 3) service unit complete." Questioning him for specifics revealed "cables were repaired" (NOT replaced) by securing existing bracket containing cables back in place with zip-ties and electrical tape. I asked what actions were covered by term "Service unit complete" and he described most of the actions described in Angie's List Tune-up Deal checklist. He added that he found a high volume of "dirt and leaves from inside gas tank" for which he accused me of mowing without the gas cap (which I do not recall ever happening as I am the primary operator). Also, his description of the extreme degree of contamination in the gas tank, if accurate, would have been incompatible with the good engine performance I had as late as the day before. He bemoaned this task kept him up until 11 pm the night before. On 8/4 when he returned the mower, there was about 1/3 tankful of fuel and I was able to start the mower on first pull. I was not able to use the mower until Fri 8/11 due to the weather, and found additional problems. He had removed the padding on the mower handle and did not replace it (I have arthritis and need it). Engine cover was discovered to be "askew," i.e. not level or in alignment (I have photo but do not know how to submit it), yet it was securely in place. Mower started on 4th pull but ran only for about 10 minutes. Fuel tank was found empty so more ethanol-free unleaded fuel was put in tank. Mower was thereafter not able to be started by any means and fuel was noted to be dripping from behind air filter (carburetor location). I have lost $150 and still cannot use my mower. I am elderly and regret trusting Angie's List as a reliable source for service providers. Please stop endorsing this vendor. He is playing us both.

Picked up mower gave estimate and repaired reasonably fast. Repair was great,runs as good as new. Pick up and return was a big help since I had no way to transport.

Great. The repairman came to the house and picked up the mower to take to his shop but would have done the work at our house if he'd known the mower brand and model. He was in our neighborhood when he called on another call which is why he didn't have the parts with him.
