It went well.

These guys were professionals throughout the whole process from estimating to cleanup. They are very knowledgeable regarding the correct application for your home. Their competition was clearly not interested in making sure I was receiving the right application but in making the sale. I will be using Louisville spray foam for my next project.

Matt and Ben were AWESOME. We bought an old butchertown house from the 1800s, and they came out right away and evaluated the whole home for us.  In the end they determined that the existing spray foam was more than we needed (didn't even charge) and had a lot of recommendations for subcontractors that we did need for other projects.  Could not believe we found a contractor who didn't try to upsell us or rip us off.  I know friends that used them for spray foam and raved.  I cannot recommend them strongly enough.  

They did an excellent job. With spray foam the second floor is very comfortable in the summer ...no need to install a window unit. <br />

When they left there was no mess and it was as clean afterwards as when they arrived. Very pleased with the process, the product and the cost.

We bought a two-story brick house with a walkout basement. The entire basement had to be gutted due to a burst water line and the mold and mildew that developed while the house sat empty - even the ceiling had to come down. Although the walls had been insulated with Fiberglass batts, the rim joist had never been insulated. Lots of air leaks at the rim joist, around the windows and around the fiberglass.  Louisville Spray Foam Insulation sprayed closed-cell foam from the top of the rim joist/band joist all the way down to the basement floor. The difference is truly amazing! Our house sits very close to the road and before the spray foam application you could hear cars coming down the road long before they passed in front of the house ? now I only hear them when they are directly in front of the house and only when I am standing right at a window. The foam seals it up very tight! The basement has a totally new warm cozy feeling with no cold corners or any lingering dampness. It just doesn't feel like a basement at all now. The foam applicators were careful to mask off areas where there might be overspray, like our brick fireplace, floor and stairwell. They did a good job of cleanup when they were done and we were able  <br /> <br /> I guess what I take away from this process is this: there is no real comparison between fiberglass and spray foam insulation. They may both use "R-Values" to try to explain how well they insulate, but the difference is so much more. The closed-cell spray foam is not just insulation, it is also a vapor barrier that seals every little space. It can't absorb water or get damp or sag over time. Fiberglass is done, part of history. I could never see myself using it again.

Working with Matt was a very easy process. Matt was the only person out of four companies that called me within a day of my request. Matt was on time for the FREE estimate and gave me an estimate on the spot. Matt was able to get my work scheduled the very next week. The workers who came out to do my basement showed up on time and completed the work within the timeframe that was given to me. The workers covered all of my stuff up and sealed up my basement stairs going up to the main floors. They also cleaned up 100% of their plastic coverings and did not leave a mess when they finished. I highly recommend them. They use a high quality foam. Since they completed my basement my home has stayed a constant 71-72 degrees with no AC/Heat running.

I got 3 estimates for closed cell spray foam insulation and the other 2 companies were $1,000 more than LSF - each rep explaining pretty much the same procedure.  The basement room of approx 600 sq feet is in the process of becoming a rec room and had framing and roughed-in plumbing and electrical.  Waterproofing trenches and a sump pump were installed several years ago.  The walls are cinder block.  I asked all quotes to be for for 2-3" of insulation.  This company - I learned later - was in the process of changing hands and at first I was confused by the different company names and contacts when I did my research.  It turned out that Matt Gilles was the main contact and he was readily available by phone and always returned my calls and answered my questions.  He took the time to explain the business situation to me. <br /> A crew of 3 men came at noon and stayed until 8 pm.  Two wore the hazmat suits and did the spraying while one stayed at the truck minding the machines and hoses.  It seemed to be very complicated, hard work, involving 2 large, long hoses going into the building for 2 chemicals to be mixed together through the sprayers.  I was told the fumes were dangerous but disappeared quickly and the windows and doors had to stay open overnight.  <br /> The next day when I went down to check, I saw just a few places that were less than 2 inches thick (2 small areas less than an inch) and called Matt.  He came to check and we discussed how to remedy it.  Bringing back the truck, hoses, and workers seemed like an excessive step so I agreed to get a couple cans of spray foam and fill in where I wanted.  <br /> The other reason I rated a B on quality was the clean-up.  Nothing was covered so I had foam on all the outlets, some on the floor and anything that was on the floor, even the sump pump.  The workers did take time after spraying to scrape foam off some of the studs and rafters, but there was a lot left for me to do, including vacuuming up the scrapings with a shop vac.  I have no other experience to compare and it was not an extreme hardship - just unexpected work.  <br /> <br />

The whole interaction with Louisville Spray Foam Insulation, INC, went very smoothly.  I emailed the company from Angie's List and got a prompt response back from Carlos.  He came out that week and gave me a quote and was very knowledgeable about his product, and was also very technical, which I appreciate very much.  He also warned me about proper code when installing spray foam insulation in a space that already has fiberglass batting insulation. He told me the batting insulation needs to be removed, and not to let anybody tell me any differently.  I had 4 quotes for this project and 2/4 of the companies, warned me that this needs to be done.  SO BUYER BEWARE when having spray foam insulation...make sure you hire someone that knows what they are doing. I hired Carlos because he gave me the best, most informative information about the spray foam insulation, technically how it works, the benefits, and also how to properly apply the foam.  He was able to come out a couple weeks later for the application.  Carlos and his crew were very professional, and easy to work with.  They were in and out in less than a day and cleaned up after themselves (my house looked cleaner after they left then when they got there).  This weekend was the first hot weekend this year, and our house felt comfortable both upstairs and down.  I would definitely recommend spray foam insulation and would absolutely use Louisville Spray Foam Insulation again!!!  They are professional, knowledgeable, very nice and have VERY FAIR prices!!! <br />

Scheduled start date was delayed more than a month -- but I was not informed until within a few days of original start date.  This is a bit of a short notice considering the amount of work we (the homeowners) had to accomplish to facilitate the work crew.  We had already transferred items out of the way, but into our way in other portions of the house. <br /> The work crew was pleasant, professional and cooperative.  The few issues we ran into during the job were easily resolved. <br /> The work quality is good.  I do have one complaint: there is a considerable amount of trash, in the form of old fiberglass batts, etc., that was left in my attic.  I must take some responsibility for not crawling back into the attic to inspect before they left. This has <strong>not</strong> been addressed with the contractor due only to the fact that it may be less disruptive to handle it myself than to make way for them to return.  This is, however, something that I truly despise doing myself. <br /> In summary, I would hire them again as well as recommend them to anyone.  I am satisfied with the work itself and I was comfortable with the workers.  I do not anticipate any problems should callbacks be required. <br /> I <em>will</em> be sure in the future to thoroughly discuss all expectations in advance and to completely inspect before the crew leaves. <br />

Would reccomend, they performed the services in a prompt and professional manner. They were well priced, and another service wanted twelve hundred for just the crawl space. I would highly reccomend. <br />

We are very satisfied with the work and with the results.  We spoke with Carlos about the process and to get a bid on the work, then with Jose' about the actual foaming.  Carlos is extremely knowledgeable and very good at relating what he knows  -  he's well-able to explain every detail in terms that the average homeowner can understand.  He was highly-recommended by our general contractor.  We did get another bid from a competing firm, but they were almost exactly equal in dollars and the other firm had just had a personnel change, so we went with LSFI. <br />  Workers showed up on 11/26; they stayed on 11/27 until 10 PM in order to finish, a 14-hour day for them!  Carlos later apologized for the late hour, but we have already endured long roofing and framing days so it was no real problem.  Following a few questions from me, the foamers returned on 12/5 to add foam to the roof eaves (the roof had stayed frosted up on cold mornings except for the eaves right near the roof's edge), to fill areas where recessed lights had had to be removed (the recessed light cans don't allow for foam above them and are not recommended for ceilings without conditioned spaces above), the areas around the 4" tubing leading to the bath vents on the roof (the holes had been foamed over because the tubing was not yet in place, so I had cleared the holes and installed the tubing), and to touch up on a few high and low areas.  Our GC had had problems with the fact that excess foam had been left on some wall studs.  He thought it might hinder the placement of drywall, and I did observe those workers sometimes clearing off excess foam before they could attach drywall.   <br />  An excellent example of the crew's responsiveness happened on 12/6, when Jose' and a worker returned to our home to foam a newly-exposed wall in a future bathroom.  We had had the plaster torn off to expose the studs and found that this exterior wall had no insulation at all, which could have caused serious problems in the bath in coming years.  Luckily, Jose' and the crew were working at a neighbor's and were able to complete this extra work early the next morning, well before the drywall crew needed to work on the wall.  We just sent money to cover this extra work; Carlos charged only $100, which was for the cost of materials.  Now that's what I call truly great customer relations!  He made a visit to our home to check on this extra work, too. <br />  At present (12/12, 11:45 AM) we're having a new furnace installed so we have had no heat in the house since about 9 AM.  The temp outside has gone from 29 to about 33, but the house temp has dropped only one degree!  I am continually amazed at the effectiveness of the foam insulation.  It's also a good noise barrier, which is helpful for those of us living near Bowman Field.  Our crawl space access areas can be left wide open now, another thing which amazes me.  All in all, we had a great experience with LSFI and we recommend them without reservation. <br />

I filled out a quote request online and received a call from Carlos the same day.  I scheduled an appointment and he came over and did an inspection, explained what needed to be done and sent me a quote later that day.  I originally thought I needed foam sprayed on the ceiling of the crawl space because the floor was so cold in my kitchen and living room.  There were also lots of drafts.  Carlos explained that we could go that route but the better option was to spray foam the walls and "seal" the crawl space.  This would 1) Warm the floor, 2)take care of the drafts and 3) increase the efficiency of my heat pump and water heater because the temperature in the crawl space would be higher therefore there would be less heat loss.  I scheduled the project on my day off and received a phone call that they were running just a little late and Carlos gave me a time he and the crew would be here.  They showed up at that time and got right to work.  Everyone was very professional and extremely curteous.  I could feel the difference in my kitchen floor as they began to spray the foam! After they were done, everything was cleaned up and the only thing that was left was a faint odor of the foam.  It smells kind of like dawn detergent and was gone within a couple of days.  The spray foam has definitely made a HUGE difference in the temperature of the floor.  It is no longer freezing cold.  It also took care of the drafts that were in the kitchen.  The best part is it took my energy use down 100 kw per day (with only a 2 degree difference from last year).  Definitely worth it!!!  I will use them again for the other side of my house and will eventually replace the regular insulation with foam in my attic.

Personnel were always on time, did what they said they'd do, and very easy to communicate with via cell or e-mail. They were concerned with meeting my timeframe, were neat and tidy, and answered all my questions and concerns. I thought they had missed a place, turns out I was mistaken, but they were happy to come and correct the situation if necessary.  I am happy to be the first one on Angie's List to review them! <br /> <br /> There is a mild odor associated with the foam, but it didn't bother us, we didn't vacate the house, etc. The odor rapidly dissipates in a few days, and is never strong or noxious. <br /> <br /> I am doing this in conjunction with a re-work of the HVAC ductwork, specifically to address very poor cooling on the upper floor: After the insulation was installed, the crappy central AC is actually keeping the upstairs cool for the very first time! <br /> <br /> I wholeheartedly recommend these guys. I did go for competing bids, but the competition came to my home, but never delivered an estimate...even after calling them (Grable). <br /> <br />
