Lou Topia Hardwood Flooring

Lou Toppia was just the expert I needed. Not only was I expecting him to refinish my hardwood floors, I was asking him to come in and work miracles to repair the damage done by another contractor who had a damaged machine created wavy distortions to my floors. Lou made them look beautiful again! He was very honest about what he could and could not make perfect and his work always exceeded my expectations. Lou was careful to keep his work area very clean, cleaned up after himself daily and protected my other living areas by sheeting off the rooms he was refinishing. The final finish is so beautiful, with four coats of satin urethane, I think they look better than the factory finish. I would highly recommend Lou to anyone in need of hardwood flooring installation or refinishing.

Lou was very responsive, especially since we were dealing with tight and moving timelines. He went out of his way to fit us into his schedule so the floors would cure in time for us to move. Leading up to the job, he checked in with us regularly, and provided a certificate of insurance when we needed it. He arrived when promised, each day, and completed the work beautifully in the outlined timeframe.

New 1st time homeowner tackling some projects with zero references or ideas on how things should be gone about regarding major home improvements. After finding Lou on Angie’s list, he was communicative, professional, and friendly right from the beginning all the way through to the end of the project. He was punctual to all appointments, checked in regularly during the actual project, and finished on schedule. Lou and his son cleaned up my home including wiping down the walls, and even brought my trash barrels back from the street since I was away during the project. Lou also asked for me to call him the day after he finished just to see what I thought of the floors and ensure I was happy with his work. I would recommend him to anyone! A+ overall, and will definitely reach out to him again if the need arises.

Lou was responsive, helpful and nice from the very first phone call. He worked with our schedule, offered advice, and was always punctual and consistent with appointments. He was very communicative throughout the whole process. We had our whole first floor refinished, which included wide pine in the kitchen and oak in the rest of the rooms. They ended up looking beautiful. We are so pleased! We are hoping to also have him do our second floor in the future.

Lou did a great job on refinishing our hardwood floors. We moved into our new house and they were really worn out. Lou came in sanded and refinished within a week. Could not be happier with the reaults!

He was really good.  I give him a thumbs up.  He was very reasonable.  He sanded and finished the floor.  I like the job that the guy did.  No problems whatsoever.  I give him A's across the board and I'm not an easy grader either.  I only deal with people that gets the job done.  I've got to have my floors done next year.  I'm definitely going to call him and have him do it.  I got him to do my daughters floors.  She just bought a new house.

It went very well. The room had a tile hearth and odd shape to deal with. Old particle board and carpeting had to be removed. The crew did an excellent job will all aspects of the work.

<p>Beforehand Lou gave us a cost estimate, which he honored.  Included with the cost estimate was a description of the work to be done.  The description was detailed and thorough.</p> <p>On the date and at the time to which he had committed, Lou arrived.  He brought with him all his sanders, tools, and supplies needed for the work.  He immediately started working and continued straight through until he finished, which took several days.</p> <p>Lou's work was to sand and prep our wood floors and then apply multiple coats of sealer.  In sanding the floors, Lou made no burn marks or scallops.  The sanding was done perfectly, especially in the corners and under the baseboard heaters, which were difficult to access.</p> <p>Exceptionally well done was the clean-up, so no sawdust or traces of sawdust were left.  Lou painstakingly cleaned up every part of the room.</p> <p>Then, Lou applied a coat of the sealer, let it dry, and applied the coat of the sealer, day after day.  There were no runs or puddles or waves in the sealer.  Each coat was appropriately applied, so the final effect was a mirror-like finish throughout each room.</p> <p>In the more than eight years since Lou did the floors, the sealer remains intact and in fine condition, despite heavy foot traffic including two young boys playing on the floors in the family room and the kitchen. </p> <br />

I have used Lou two times for refinishing hardwoods in our bedrooms. He refinished floors that were neglected over a 25 year period and everyone who sees them is amazed at how incredible they look. He offers a great value for great work. We are a 100% satisfied and highly recommend his services. We will be calling him back again and recommend him to all our friends and family!

<p>Went as expected.  We were in a bit of a rush because were moving in and Lou worked with us to figure out the timing of the job.We were having a problem with our heater which we needed to have the finish dry quickly and Lou worked with us on the potential problems if the heater issue continued.</p>

Lou is amazing! He has done two jobs for me that you would consider small, but was punctual and professional with great pricing. He has a lot of pride in doing the job right and utilizes the best materials! I will always call Lou and no one else!
