Carport (Wood) - Build
Company was hired to build a detached carport. When I asked if they needed to get a permit with the city, they stated that one was not needed because the carport was not going to be attached to the home. The city building inspector stopped by and asked if there was a permit for the carport. I told him that there was not a permit and explained what MAG had said. The building inspector said that a permit is definitely needed and that the structure did not comply with the codes. He said the carport needed to be completely removed or rebuilt correctly. The other issue is the misalignment of the roof- the pitch and direction of the roof planes do not match the existing home's roof. Therefore, it is not visually appealing.
