Good people, lousy experience. I hired Magnolia to replace my rooftop package A/C with a heat pump. On the appointed day, they tore the old unit out, lowered it with a crane, removed the cardboard from the new unit...and realized it wouldn't fit. So I was left without A/C for several weeks as it started to get hot, and they hardly communicated with me. So I walked away from them. I give them two stars---I'll reserve one star for outright criminality, etc. I talked to several people at the company and they all seemed to be trying hard, but the bottom line is that the company blew it. In retrospect, there were warning signs. I had to argue with my rep to persuade him to take me seriously when I said the old thermostat wire only had 3 strands, which would not be enough to support a modern thermostat running a heat pump. When he realized I was right, he apologized and offered me the 10-year warranty for free. That was honorable, but the proposal listed this as a "$380/year value." What it really meant is that I would have to *pay* $380/year for their gold service plan in order to keep the "free" labor warranty in effect: an extra $4000 over 10 years, which looks steep to me for annual service. And it took me several weeks to sign on the dotted line, during which time the rep reminded me more than once that the unit was back-ordered with a ~6-week lead time...and then after I signed the company said they could install in 2 weeks. After the debacle, I learned about a higher-efficiency Bosch unit, so I asked if they could install that instead. The first response was no because they needed to match the dimensions of the old one as well as possible. I pointed out that it had nearly identical dimensions to the Carrier they were favoring. So then the story changed to the Bosch being too expensive. We could have negotiated price at that point, but communication was not forthcoming. The next I heard from the company was, a week later, when they called to tell me it would be a cumulative 3 weeks before they could a install new unit--what new unit they still hadn't consulted me on. I felt vulnerable because our contract largely immunized them from liability: in a dispute, I'd pay their legal costs, and liability was limited to the contract amount. Since they were in egregious violation of the contract--they'd never installed the promised unit and left my family without cooling for weeks--I walked.

Thanks to the Magnolia technician, Pasquale Skok, everything went extremely well, from the diagnosis of the problem, to the purchase of the new appliance, to the installation, to the removal of a very difficult blockage. It took less than two hours from the time Mr. Skok called to tell us that he was coming to the job was done. A complete professional. Great work.

At 7pm on Saturday the 15th, In the middle of the Presidents` Day holiday, the value on my tenant’s apartment radiator started to leak at the rate of 1/2 c every half hour. My house, and the radiator, is 111 years old. I frantically called two 24 hour emergency plumbers and none of them came through. I then called Magnolia, who I had never used before, and Jose Vilche came to my house 40 minutes later. He had to drain the radiators and shut off the water flow as he could not remove the valve, but about 8:20 the next morning he arrived with his assistant, Angel, to cap that radiator and refill the system. He returned on Tuesday, as I had to work on Monday, with his supervisor who was finally able to remove the valve. The radiator stays capped until Tuesday the next week (accommodating my work schedule) when Vincent and Angel install the new valve. I had them also install a new drain valve on a second apartment radiator. So now, after all the draining and bleeding and testing for water balance, the radiators are functioning better than they ever had before. While Magnolia is not inexpensive, the cost was definately worth my peace of mind. Jose was in constant contact with me, he arrived exactly on schedule, explained each step along the way and worked diligently on my horrible problem until it was resolved. Thank you Magnolia- this was a stressful time for me and I was very satisfied with the service I had received!

The job went well overall. Magnolia's estimator and residential field supervisor, Sam Musser, is also a licensed AC system installer, and with his wealth of knowledge and experience he was able to answer all of my questions concerning the installation. Sam was also very responsive in addressing the few concerns I raised during the installation process, and his installation team was very polite, professional and diligent. This included not only Magnolia's employees, who installed new high efficiency TRANE air handler and condenser units, but also the two licensed subcontractors for the new ductwork and the electrical hook up work.

It was a tale of two companies: The technician (Saeid) was excellent--very knowledgable, thorough, and professional. He diagnosed and fixed the problem superbly. On the other hand, the price for services rendered was exorbitantly high, and they completely missed an appointment scheduled, despite repeated calls from me and assurances that someone would be coming out.

Instead of finding a way to obtain business the plumber told me exactly what was needed. He also helped me to understand the problem and what I needed to do to find the right company for the job. He wrote up on the ticket notes that was helpful for me moving forward. Very honest and forthright. I can't attest to their work because they did not perform any job but I would trust them to do something for me.

March 6th, 2018 at about 2:15 p.m. called Magnolia Plumbing company because of a possible gas leak. The technician Mr. Pasquale Skok came out to view the job. He was provided information about the gas leak by myself and the tenant. Technician decided that I needed to do a line pressure test or pressure line test(not sure of the correct terminology). He stated that once he did this if he discovered a leak he it would cost extra for that. He quoted me a price of 577.00 for a PRESSURE LINE CHECK which was what the gas company recommend .He stated the technician would arrive between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. March 7 Finally, technician came out at about 11:30 a.m. Mr. Marvin Lewis Chaney was the technician assigned to the job. Mr. Chaney asked me what is the problem ? I become a little agitated because I had already went through this with the technician that came out on March 6th. My tenants were the ones that were really familiar with the issue and they were not there. So Mr. Chaney called his office and stated “Yall sent me on a job without telling me nothing”. This does not make sense”. He then proceeded to call Mr. Pasquale Skok. Mr. Skok explained to him what was going on and that a line pressure check needed to be completed. Took Mr. Chaney into the basement to look at the pipes. I showed him the area where the leak may be originating. He stated okay I am going to turn on all the gas (gas had been turned off by PEPCO). He told me he had to go to home depot to get something. He returned about 30 minutes later. When he returned he has a gas leak detector. He turned on all the appliances (stove, furnace and hot water heater). He stated that he wanted to rule out some things before he did the line pressure test). I thought wow that is great he is trying to save me some money. Little did I know that what he was doing cost money ($577.00). He proceeded to walk throughout the basement with this gas leak dictator. He stated I am not getting a read and if there was a leak this would detect it because it is very sensitive. We went upstairs and sat in the kitchen. He stated “well if you want to do a line pressure test its your call”. I am not getting a reading . He stated that sometimes the gas company will get a low pressure reading if the appliance are connected. So I said well you are the expert. Before we ended he decided to go down one last time to check with the wand and this time he discovered gas. I asked him how long it would take him to fix this and he stated well let me give you a price first. Mr. Chaney went to his truck and he came back with a book. He sat down and then he said “It’s going to cost you 2065 to fix the pipes. I said WHOA that is a lot for three pipes”. He stated well the material are going to cost about 300 to 400 dollars. I will try to get it down for you if I can but the materials are high”. He said this includes the price of labor and material. Agreed to this price and of 2060 to fix the pipes. I thought to myself well I guess since I did not have to do the line pressure reading that I had saved 577.00 So I will go ahead and pay this price. At no time did the technician say that I am charging you 1488 for the plumbing and 577 for a gas leak search. The plumber stated that he had to go out to buy pipes. Once again I am frustrated because I thought that this company had all supplies on their truck. Two times the technician had to go out to purchase supplies. I had to leave because I had already missed an entire day of work. My tenant came home early to wait on the plumber. When he came back at about 4pm. he told my tenant that he could not fix it today because he did not have all the supplies. He stated that he would return on March 8th to fix the repairs. At about 5ish on March 7th, Mr. Chaney called my personal phone to not tell me that he could not do the job but to tell me that the price he quoted of 2065 included a gas leak search. The call was placed after the gas leak search was provided. I was flabbergasted because this was never told to me. I never consented to a gas leak search, only a pressure line test. I felt that I should have been told that this was a cost associated with searching for the gas leak. I just thought this was sometime routine. It was only after I questioned why the price for fixing the plumbing was so high that he decided to call me and tell me that this included a leak search fee. He had every opportunity to break down what the 2060 was for when we were discussing the price at my home. All I was told was that I was being charge 2060 for labor and material. On March 7th I called the company to speak to manager about this. Jason answered the phone and I requested that he pass me to a manager. I spoke to a female who stated that she was one of the managers. I informed her about this situation with the pricing as well as the customer service. At no time did she express that she was sorry that my experience was not pleasant. She stated I will get with the technician and call you back. Well needless to say she never called back. Meanwhile on March 8th Mr. Chaney came to fix the plumbing. I was unable to be at the house but provided my tenant with the money to pay the plumber. Well I was more than surprised to see in the contract that he had discussed a gas leak search fee with me and that he had quoted me a price for it. This is fraud at its best. He never did a line pressure test but alludes it. He stated to me that a pressure test involves disconnecting all appliances. He did not do this he connected all the appliance to locate the gas leak with a wand. Now he backtracked to cover himself. I was never told that I was being charged 577.00 for a gas leak search. I would not have had a problem if this was discussed with me and I had a chance to say yes I will do that instead of the pressure line test. This was the reason the technician was supposed to come out. I got a copy of the contract via email. I called the female manager again on March 9th to discuss my concerns. She stated that she had to talk to her manager and he was in a meeting. On March 9 at 1:48 p.m. a gentleman called me from 7574342415. (I cannot remember his name). He identified himself as the manager. I told him my concern and he went on to vehemently deny any wrongdoing and to justify the leak search fee that I never consented to. He stated you have to do a leak search to find the leak and I told him that I ordered a pressure line test. He tried to convince me that the gas leak search and pressure line test were the same. I politely told him that there was a difference. The conversation ended with him saying I need to talk the technician. Frustration set in again because to avoid having to deal with the situation everyone kept saying that they needed to speak to the technician. I could not understand why they had not spoken to the technician prior to calling me. At the end of the business day on Friday I had yet to hear back from the manager. In my frustration I decided to file a better business compliant. I did receive a response back but it was the same defense that had been used previously. On March 15th I decided to call the manager back since he did not bother to respond back to me as he had promised. I had to refresh his memory and he continued his argument that the pressure line test and gas leak search were the same so he had the right to charge me for it. I disputed this with him but to no avail. He was rude, arrogant and had no customer service skills. I told him that they would not have done this to a man but choose to act in such a way with a woman. I am used to it now after having dealt with some many. I am frustrated and believe that I have been taken advantage of. He then told me that I had received a discount. His rationale was if the technician quoted you initially a price of 2060 just to fix he pipes and then quoted me a price of 1488.00 for the plumbing and 577 for the gas leak search then he gave you a discount because he did not charge you 2060 for the plumbing. This mean he took off 577 from the plumbing and charge me 1488 for plumbing and 577 for the gas leak search. So you got a discount. I

Company was professional and plumber new his trade, but I feel my daughter-in-law way overpaid. $800 plus for a little over 2 hours at house....and I guess travel time...no part. Last Fall, my daughter in law, the owner of her first home called to have her gas boiler turned on and serviced. She was told before the job started that the job would be $800 plus depending on what was discovered. The boiler fired right up, the tech vacuumed the soot in the tray under the burners, checked the radiators (to drain and rebalance would have been extra)...but all winter they ran fine with no clanging. I called the Magnolia GM to discuss the bill. He was professional, but explained that is what a job like that specs out on their charts. I asked what it would cost to come and have the guts of a toilet replaced. He said off the top of his head around $400. I guess being from another state I am used to lower prices. I was offered a 10% coupon on the house's next service call to ,make me feel better

Because I mentioned the HVAC system, they sent an HVAC technician who said, "You need a plumber. We can have one here between 4-6p." At 5p, I called to confirm and a technician was scheduled. At 6:30p, after no one showed, I had to deal with the after-hours dispatch to get a technician to the house. The tech wouldn't do the work without taking payment, said it would be $425 to snake the drain. The tech said he would leave an invoice with my tenants but took off. WORST SERVICE.

We've used their plumbing, and they're very expensive.? They get the job done, but they're very expensive.? The work was done at my husband's mother's house that he was putting on the market. They're good. They do the work, but they're just so expensive.? They're pretty good about time. Somebody calls you if they're running late.? I will use them again, because I have a contract with them.? They get the job done, but they're just outrageously expensive.
