Mark Group

It went great... but this company is no longer in business in the US. So we could not have them do the home energy upgrades. If they were still around we likely would have went with them! <br />

They did a nice job putting together an efficiency audit and explaining what they'd like to do.  The price wasn't cheap, but they were flexible in detailing the different pieces of the overall bid. <br /> They were a little persistent about closing the deal, but my wife and I had to prioritize finances elsewhere in our new house.  We intend on refreshing the estimate and doing the work sometime in the near future. <br />

It was just the $99 big deal that I paid.  They didn’t do any work, they just came.  They were okay.  They did contact me.  They came when they said they would.  I will probably not use them again because I just had no work done.

The audit was detailed and informative, but the cost of having them do the improvements was too high. I had my house insulated by a different company. <br />

As above.  We were interested to know what type of work would be done to help our draft issues and the cost but they never rescheduled the appointment and we ended up hiring someone locally to carry out the work. <br />

The big deal service purchased on 21st February of 2013 of 75 dollars for comprehensive home energy audit worked out great. I would grade them 'A's all across the board. I would use them again. That was a good experience. There were no additional charges other than the 75 dollars big deal price.

Initial person was too chatty, too much information, overwhelming. Later more succinct. Workers who did test & insulation (blower door test to reveal air leaks). Workmen were sufficient and polite. Two years later discovered they had caulked Marvin windows which should NOT be caulked in order to wash them w/ moveable parts. It cost me $175 to have them repaired or caulking removed. This was done & I submitted a bill 11/13/14 and have not been reimbursed yet. Have called 2x's to remind, last time man said he thought it was done and he would see about it. That was 3 weeks ago the last time and 7 weeks from the first reminder. It is now 2/24/15.

It went pretty well. My house didn't get any warmer, because I discovered that I needed windows.  For some reason, they couldn't tell me that I needed windows. I put some plastic over some of the windows, and the change was almost instant. I would have rather put the money I spent for the insulation into putting in new windows. They were professional, and they did a good job. They just missed that I needed windows instead of insulation.

The Mark Group was great in the beginning. I had a home energy audit performed. The representative was very professional and friendly. I scheduled to have work performed and it was scheduled for 2 months later. The scheduler called me the morning of the service appointment and canceled. Their crew had fallen behind. After multiple attempts of calling Mark Group, I never received a call-back to reschedule.  <br /> Great up-front service and sales team. Poor scheduling and administrative team.

OUT OF BUSINESS 12/20/14...the audit itself went well, and the follow up appointment was very informative. we scheduled an appointment to have the recommended work done, only to get a call the day before that they have gone out of business in the US. the guy who called me said the parent company in the UK could no longer support the US company. they arranged for another company to honor their estimate, but we haven't scheduled the work yet.

<p>They indicated in the "Big Deal" that they were going to do a blower test (which is pretty essential for energy audit). However no blower test was done as part of the inspection. </p> <p>They didn't provide any report. They didn't show up for the follow up.</p> <p>I suspect that they are much more interested in selling their services as part of the Audit. However, as they didn't do a proper audit and as they didn't follow up I can't be certain. </p> <br />

Excellent service, from initial visit for estimate through completion of work.

They came out and did the energy audit. They gave me the results and prices to upgrade our house. Totaling in over $3,000. I paid $1,753 as a down payment in the form of a check. We thought we were going to get the work done at the end of December. They have cashed the check and now won't return my calls. I have heard the company was going to be bought out. Now the phone number that we have for them has been disconnected. We feel we got baited into it.

I paid $475 to have an energy audit performed in early December, with the intention of getting the report, and having the recommended work performed (Added insulation, etc., )   A techician came to perform the audit, and he did do so, but I had a hard time understanding him verbally.  I wasn't too concerned at the time, since I had been told that I would get a full report emailed to me.  It never arrived, and when I started calling the company, every extension I tried said "message box full."  I've tried calling, emailing, and have asked for a refund, but have gotten no response at all.  I went back to Angie's list, where I got the original referral, and the Mark Group had vanished from their list.  I took the extra step of calling Angie's list, explained the situation to the customer service person, who said he would research it and have someone call me back.  I have not heard back, in a week.  I checked again, and Mark Group is back on the list, but with an address in the Midwest.  A person at the end of the that phone number told me that this new company was taking over in some way, but could not be more specific.  If I were you, I would not bother.  Obviously, Mark Group has imploded in some way, around the middle or end of December, with no warning.   I charged the audit fee on my credit card, and have disputed the charge, so i am hoping to get my money back from my credit card company, but it shouldn't have to work that way.  Shame on you, Mark Group, for continuing to take people's money, when you had to know that one week later you were going out of business.  The least you could do would be to change the outgoing messages on the phone, to save people like me, and the above reviewer, from spending even more time calling over and over. <br />

I wasn't as impressed. They did a thorough audit, but the report seemed to be incorrect. I noticed this and brought it to their attention but it wasn't fixed.

The audit went well.  The follow-on work (water heater replacement, heat pump replacement, and caulking). <br /> They did a pretty good job.  They did sub out the water heater and heat pump parts.  The new water heater had a heat pump unit on it too.  The water heater had an alarm that went out and was eventually replaced. <br /> The subs did test my patience when they started late and ended even later than they said they would.  I eventually told them they had to get out at a certain time. <br /> I took a year to write this because I wanted to back it up with cost savings info.  Unfortunately, the jury is still out on whether or not the system is paying for itself. <br />
