Maximum Chimney Services

John did a great job with our Chimney sweep. He arrived on time and very responsive with our questions. We also had our gas logs serviced and he did a real nice job cleaning and displaying our logs. Strongly recommend Johns service to others!

The work was done professionally and within a reasonable time. There was a problem and their response to coming back to fix that.

I did not like the fact that they try to use scare tactics (you had a fire in your chimney) to try to gain more work. Also the markup on the product they wanted to apply was outrageous. I can get the same product at Sears at around $65 per 5 gallon bucket and the charge from this service was well over $500. I also understand labor costs, I inquired on the amount of time it would take, the reply was maybe an hour. All around I felt like I was being scammed.

Many 'no-shows,' attempted to have me new purchase new gas fireplace, stated many things were non-repairable, and treated me as though I was an ignorant person. I am a physician, who simply was not able to bend and light the fireplace! Advantage was coerced, since I am a senior citizen; this company did not know I was a physician; so I spent this ridiculous fee to have my fireplace lit.

The chimney to our furnace was loose.  Noticed after a leak.  Our roofer caulked it but explained it wasn't firmly attached.  Maximum came out and did a free inspection, then described the problem.  They were able to repair that afternoon.  They were a little after the window in which they said they'd be out, but the did call. <br /> <br />

<p>The team of Ray and Sean were very polite and responsive to my questions.   They were very clear about the costs of the services, the reason for the needed waterproofing.  Everything was explained before any work was done.  They were also very neat and the work was done efficiently.</p> <br />

Good experience. John, the owner, arrived on time. I told him the chimneys hadn't been cleaned in at least five years. One fireplace is gas, the other is wood-burning (mostly three-hour logs). He used protective tarps in the areas around the fireplaces. The gas-burning fireplace cleaning went quickly and wasn't too dirty. The wood-burning fireplace/chimney took longer. John said it was pretty dirty. He used a good vac to suck out the dirt and soot. After the cleaning, he did visual inspections and took digital photos with his smartphone. Then, he used his ladder to go up on the roof and inspect both chimneys. He also too photos. Then, he came back in, gave me an itemized bill. I gave him a check for payment. Each chimney cleaning was $99 plus tax. He showed me the digital photos on his iPad and discussed what additional services/repairs should be done to maintain the chimneys and the associated costs. He later emailed me the report and estimate. I rarely use the wood-burning fireplace. That one needs the most repair work. He recommended using only three-hour logs in that fireplace and keeping the fires small and in the back of the fireplace. He said to get a smaller fireplace grate. <br />

Overall all services guys were super nice. They did a very professional job and explained everything. The tuck-pointing had to be done on a separate day and on that day the tech that was suppose to do the service had a personal emergency and they found a backup tech so I did not have to reschedule, so that was very professional of them to go that extra mile.

The experience with them was very poor. I am a physician, and one of the things that I liked least about them was that they would make an appointment, and then they would call on the morning of the appointment, and cancel it. I have to work 36 hour shifts, and then I have to take offs. I really thought they had it together in the interview, and it is very hard for physicians who work with adolescents to cancel appointments for an entire day. That is so annoying for me. It is interfering with my patients lives. This happened so many times. Now I have to make coverage for the people who did covered for me, and they did not lower the price for me. There is nothing more annoying than to find that I have gone out of my way for them, to take offs, make other arrangements, have many angry parents, and they were no shows. They said this piece hasn't come in, and that piece hasn't come in. I would never use them, and I would never recommend them to another person. I thought they were very costly, and they left a mess. Initially they were very responsive, and after that they called me in the morning of the service to cancel. Their lack of follow through affected not only me, but also my patients and their parents.

I've not had a great experience with them. I couldn't get the gas to work afterwards. So I called them. They responded well and they came back out and they had attached the gas pipes wrong. So they re-attached them.

They came when they said they would going to come and did what they said they would going to do. I never had any problem and complaints.

The gentleman who came out to actually do the work on the chimney gave me estimates for a few things that needed to be done. One of the things he had to do was to repour the crown and apparently he didn't know what he was doing. He took down so many levels of bricks and when he went to build them back up, he didn't do it high enough. He also didn't pour the crown correctly. Some guys from the company came back and told me they would try to correct it. They redid the work but even after that, the crown still looked bad and the concrete didn't go all the way to the edge of the bricks. I've called them back out here a couple of times. I had issues with them making me pay for things even though the work wasn't done yet. Overall, it definitely was a bad transaction. Eventually, we've worked everything out but I'm still not happy with the way the work looks.
