TERRIBLE! See pics (read review) & judge for yourselves We wouldn't let McKnight Enterprises anywhere near our home again. NOT professional, not landscapers, not skilled and worst - not honest. They charged us for work they weren't skilled in doing which led to a weed filled lawn, dying plants, poison ivy where kids play and the worst part... being threatened with after-the-fact billing for things they claimed were done for "free" when we tried to fire them. Seriously, read on... We found out the hard way, McKnight, is a relatively new Mother & Son owned and operated business. Vanessa (mom/"site manager") & Keith (son) have no significant prior landscaping/lawn maintenance experience but they promise results, as if they do. For us, our first experience with McKnight wasn't horrible BECAUSE they showed up with 2 experienced laborers to assist Keith (son). On that day, Vanessa just walked around claiming she was there to ensure good work. HOWEVER, we didn't see the old fashion "bait & switch" coming. We hired McKnight for regular lawn maintenance and a few small landscaping projects. The next time McKnight showed up - it was ONLY Vanessa (Mom) and Keith (son). Yes, the same nice truck pulled up BUT this time there were no experienced helpers and Mom&son rolled out 1 small hand-push lawn mower and proceeded to cut our lawn the same way your Uncle would, if you asked him for a favor. We discussed it with Vanessa, who claimed it cost too much to bring help and that they were working on getting a professional mower but would probably rent one until they bought. They didn't rent a professional one, they rented/bought a used "Mom&Pop" rider mower which they offset costs by explaining they were going to increase their pricing on us. An increase in cost even though they just quoted us a price, on site, barely a week or two before (other reviewers, on other sites, made this same pricing switch complaint about them. We wish we had seen that before hiring them). So their real pricing turned out more expensive then the other estimates. (Whomp. Whomp.) We had already dismissed the other companies, so we felt a little trapped with summer already starting. So we agreed. Worse mistake ever - Within less than 2 months our lawn began looking like a disaster! Weeds everywhere, dying plants, mushrooms growing and they spread poison ivy in places where our kids play. How? Cross contamination from other jobs they've done, lack of professional equipment or professional grade products (although they claim they use and charge for professional grade) and no real professional knowledge of what to-do/not-do when landscaping/mowing someone's property. They were learning on the fly! The Result - Painfully slow, inefficient work, that cross contaminanted our entire lawn with everything bad they had ever cut from everywhere else. Worst part, takes a while to see the damage growing and nothing you can do to stop it once it's started. Our lawn was nice BEFORE we hired McKnight. Now it's one of the worst on the block. We had to hire new landscapers to fix what they said would be "professional work". It was a nightmare - Which brings us to the absolute worst part about McKnight. You can't fire them! (You can, we did, but it's disgusting what they did to try and stop us. Read on...) Normally things can be worked out and, if necessary, people respectfully go their separate ways - not with McKnight. After paying in full, we respectfully told Mcknight we thought it best to go our separate ways. In response, Vanessa (Mom) simply said "then we'll need to charge you for the things we did for free". (Seriously, she said that!) Huh? Did for free? We had just paid them in full. And if they had done something for "free" how does it become "un-free"? How much does something "un-free" cost after its done for free? We couldn't make this stuff up, if we tried. Needless to say - We did fire them! AND Vanessa really did make up a charge for what she claimed was "done for free" and then sent the bill when she knew we were away on vacation. THIS was our experience with Mcknight. We could go on, but why? We're not looking to bash, just wanted to honestly share our experience. We certainly have no doubts McKnight earned a GRADE: F. We hope to never meet any service provider who deserves an F more.
