I was immediately impressed with Meathead Movers from my first phone call to their company about 4 weeks before my actual moving date. I had the great fortune of working with Ali over the phone and she was always extremely friendly, knowledgable and encouraging. Moving can be a confusing experience and very rarely ever fun, but Ali informed me of every level of service that Meathead offered and never tried to "up-sell" me into something that I did not need. I started off with a contract that included a truck and three movers, but after moving a lot of the smaller items myself in the days leading up to my move, I was able to conveniently pare down my contract (thanks to Ali again) to just having two movers help me move my larger items via a U-Haul that I rented. I was also fortunate that those two movers happened to be Steven and Reno. They showed up promptly and immediately came up with a game plan. After going over a small bit of paperwork, they even offered me a chair to sit back and relax while they did all the hard work! As advertised, they ran back and forth from the truck as they loaded it and did the same when unloading at my new residence. They were careful, professional and worked extremely hard. From beginning to end, Ali, Steven and Reno made what could have been a stressful experience into a pleasant one. They are the perfect representatives of Meathead Movers and I can't recommend them highly enough.

I had originally wanted this company to pack and move me -- it ended up that they could not actually moe me the day I needed it done. I hired another, actually more reliable set of movers (from the internet). Princess Packers packed things -- there were very fragile things I told them not to wrap -- but they did anyway -- okay. Many broken things were thrown away. Final analysis -- too expensive for a questionable outcome.

They did a good job. No problems. I would recommend them. I think they're local movers. I don't know how far they move stuff.

Their price was high, and they didn't do a good job. I felt their price was high for a four block move to a storage unit. They pack up my china, and they didn't do a good job. All they had to do was move the furniture. I had boxed and moved everything except the furniture, my china, some of my kitchen stuff and a few lamps and things. I would never use their services again. I would drag my things up the street myself before I would use them again. The packers and movers were not well trained, they didn't really know what they were doing. When I was unwrapping my stuff, they had wrapped a jam jar in several layers, and then one of my very fragile pottery casserole they only wrapped in one layer of newsprint. It was broken. They advertise themselves as student athletes working their way through college by moving people. The company had not taught them how to pack, they didn't have the tools they needed. They didn't know anything. They promised me they would put my television in a box, they sat it on the concrete floor in the storage unit, it was not boxed. There were glass shelves just thrown in the storage unit. They didn't keep components together. I had a table with some glass inserts, the glass inserts were just thrown in and there was a piece of wood missing. My five foot ladder never made it to the storage, I don't know what happened, it was just gone. They were just very slovenly. I had a big painting that I had asked about before. They said they would pack it properly and they didn't. They didn't have special boxes for anything, so they just wrapped plates and wine glasses and just tossed them in boxes. Those things arrived unbroken, but it wasn't the way to do it. Another company had to finish their job. It was super mediocre. I just read this article about them that they help women in abusive situations, they moved them out for free while the boyfriend is gone, I thought that was great to learn about them. I was very disappointed. They could have done a good job, I just felt they weren't taught how.

packing went well -- costly -- but then when I unpacked, some of the more delicate things I warned them about were broken. They were not available for actual moving.

We scheduled two packers to come Wednesday. They showed up right on time, and KC came by to check on everything (and bring me a Princess Packers/Meathead Movers goody bag!) and then one more stopped by about an hour later to check on the progress. She stayed to help pack, so the 4 of us packed for 7 hours. On the day of the move, once again, the MM showed up right on time, and loaded the truck in record time. They carried 2, 3 and 4 boxes at a time, wrapped furniture, etc. and jogged when they were not carrying anything! Amazing! Then they were patient with me at the unload, when I had to organize the storage so that my daughter had access to her stuff, and that my son's stuff was easily accessible for him to take to SF. What a mess! But they did it perfectly!! Better than I could have done by myself! I thought I was almost done, until I went to the house the next day and had a panic attack when I saw how much I had left to do! So, another SOS phone call to MM, and two movers came back Wednesday to help me load and haul the rest of the stuff! Every fiber in my body ached, my brain ached, I didn't know how I was going to get this done. But, with the help of the fabulous Meathead Movers, I did get it done. I cannot recommend this company enough. They thought of things that I would not have, and had solutions. They were kind, professional, and STRONG!! Moving can be emotional experience, which it certainly was in my case. I will never forget what they did for me, how they took care of me and my "stuff." There is a reason for the saying, "you get what you pay for." Meathead Movers is certainly worth every singe cent. This was truly one of the most difficult weeks in my life, and they helped me get through it. THANK YOU Meathead Movers!! You rock!!

Courteous, organized and transperant. They came to house to give initial not to exceed estimate. All the team members were very friendly and hard working. Meathead is known for jogging between lifts. Ie. Back to the truck to get more boxes. Overall we felt they were worth the price. We did discover a torn fabric on our chair. They promptly proccessed yhe claim. I overheard the team leader explain to his mover how to better use the equipment on the chair and avoid the mishap in the future. Nice to know they take everything seriously and took responsibility.

Failed to honor insured damage claim During a move, Meathead employees severely damaged a teak library unit with an original cost of $16,000. But, I thought "No, worries, I bought their REPLACEMENT VALUE insurance." It has been 66 days now and I still have no resolution. Meathead rep will not turn my call over to a supervisor. I have requested numerous times to be provided with the insurance carrier name and have yet to receive it. Below is an abbreviated version of my complaint. 9/26 (Day 1): I contacted Meathead, provided a completed claim form and photos and was referred to their concierge service to help me find a place for repairs. The concierge was a joke. They gave me a list of 3 places. #1 was a company that only did business by email--no physical address or phone number. #2 was a furniture upholsterer that did "refinishing on the side." (Oh sure, I'll hand over my gorgeous upscale library to a guy who specializes in upholstery.) The third company said "we won't do business with Meathead Movers." I called the rep at Meathead to complain. He said "go get a bid." (At this point I requested an insurance adjuster -- which was declined). I started researching companies qualified to do restoration on a high-end piece of furniture. What I found out is that quality companies charge to come to do an estimate (otherwise they'd be wasting their time giving out estimates instead of working.) I called Meathead back to tell them this and the guy said "my supervisor said he needs one bid." So, because they would not pay for a bid, I paid $150 for a restorer to come look at it. The quote was nearly $10,000! So, after a couple of weeks the rep told me the boss wants 3 bids! After a couple of weeks, I get a call from the concierge service with some companies to contact. Most of them did not have websites or photos of work to look at. Mostly, they were a bunch of handymen who do minor work and not specializing in restoration of fine furniture. I complained to the rep. It took him 10 days but he came up with a few more companies. I finally was able to obtain another estimate without paying them in advance to come out -- the company looked great and their bid was substantially less. I sent Meathead the bid with the caveat that if the damage is worse than detailed on the bid, there may be a revision. I sent that bid to them on 11/15. 12/1 (Day 66 with NO RESPONSE): Two more weeks have passed and I still have no answers. After countless email conversations, telephone calls and the usual canned response "I apologize for the delay ... I realize you are upset ... and blah blah blah," Please note: This is an abbreviated version that hits the high points only. I have a file that contains 54 email conversations documenting my claim along with numerous phone calls – all of which have resulted in not honoring the claim. It’s my feeling that they are not intending to resolve this issue or want to wear me down until I give up.

The company was very attentive. Representatives called and e-mailed with updates and confirmations leading up to the scheduled date. The day of the packing went very smoothly. Two guys showed up and, within the estimated time, had everything packed up. I was unable to directly supervise due to some other commitments I had, but I saw the end result and everything looked great. I was very pleased. I will submit an update when my pods are delivered and unloaded on the other end by a different company.
Meathead Movers has moved me
several times throughout the years and I've always been thrilled with the
service and recommended you. However, the last move was a disaster.
My move was Dec. 8 9 and 10.
It is now one month since I was
moved into this house and still have to purchase things and pay for people to
try to find things. I opened this drawer and here is what I found.
The missing cables which I had to purchase.
I am handicapped and cannot do
very much. This move cost over $6,000. A very expensive mirror was left
hanging on the wall in the house that I moved from. There was an
expensive lamp from Donna's Interiors, which was left broken on the floor at
the other house, and numbers things had to be brought over by various
people. They left garage shelving outside so it has rotted after the
rains and I've been asked several times to send pictures of the lamp. I
still cannot find some of the medications I need.
If your grandmother was in a
wheel chair and paid all this money to have things thrown in boxes and not
labeled what would you do? The most one of your employees offered me was
to reimburse me $85.00 to replace my mailbox keys, which were thrown somewhere.

I was so upset with the move in
I couldn't even call for a few days. All I could do is cry.
It was estimated I needed two
trucks. I was moving about a mile. I think several of the men stood
around on that move in day with nothing to do.
I live in Trilogy and will be
posting these pictures and more if I am not compensated. Sending a few
girls out for two hours will never fix this. I put my trust in your
company several times. Please offer me a solution. I cannot do
anything myself.
The ladies who did the unpacking
(my girls said most of the boxes were like the pictures. Things just
tossed in or stuffed into drawers as I finding now.
I expect that the lamp should be
paid for in full. I have sent them the pictures, receipt and been asked
for it over and over again. Both packing and moving went very well. All the packers and (different) movers were courteous, efficient, and hard-working. Instead of standard moving cartons, I supplied professional packaging for my LP records, which involved careful packing of thousands of LP's into several different sizes of cartons and double-boxing everything. The packers quickly learned how to set up and fill the cartons and did a thorough job. They also stacked the cartons carefully and neatly for the moving crew to load on the truck the next day.
The moving crew also performed efficiently and were out of here much faster than I had expected. They delivered the approximately 130 cartons to the warehouse without loss or damage and off-loaded and re-stacked the boxes carefully and quickly.
I was also very happy dealing with the office staff of agents who paid close attention to me and my unusual requirements and made sure they understood all the important points and I understood the contract and the terms and prices, all of which they carefully explained. They were easy to reach, even on weekends, and never gave any hint of the "couldn't care less" attitude I encountered with some other movers I had contacted. They treated my job as if it were very important to them.
I'd recommend Meathead/Princess to anyone contemplating a move. By the way, all my Princess Packers as well as Meathead Movers were male college athletes, none of them "meatheads" as far as I could see.
