The owner took a whole bunch of peoples money without doing any work. He has a press release from the Better Business Bureau and it has been sent out to several news media sites. He is currently on the run and there is a warrant out for arrest. The roofs are now leaking and they refuse to stand by the warranty. I paid about $1200 and I've got over $4000 worth of damage from the leaks. They showed up late. The materials and workmanship was inferior.

Did not show up on time for installation. When installers arrived, they replaced the wrong roof! They took off my 1st floor sunroom roof rather than the second story flat roof. Ended up replacing both roofs, but installation on sunroom roof was done improperly with poor flashing, leaks, and untrimmed roofing material which hung into my gutters and caused them to overflow. Attempted to contact Metro by phone and email every other day for appx 3 months. Refused to return calls and emails. After 3 months, they got in contact and sent a repairman who was supposed to fix roof as well as water damage. Repairman performed sloppy and incorrect repair which made problems worse. Water damage left unrepaired. Tried to contact again to fix problem, but have not returned repeated phone calls and emails. It's been another 2 months and they have yet to solve the problem, even after they called again and made an appointment (for which they did not show). Be warned. I've never had dealings with a company so unprofessional and incompetent.

Our house is old (>110 years) and while it's not large, the roof is complicated with multiple gables and chimneys. We responded to a cold call from this company regarding their drive-by observation that we needed roof repair. What they didn't know is that we were ready to do the whole thing, not just patch up a spot or two, and so we asked them for an estimate for the whole job. The work was to remove the old roof and replace it, and to re-roof a covered porch area that required fashioning a slope for drainage where there was none, and removing and patching areas where ornamental woodwork had been added years ago by a previous owner. They were responsive, courteous and punctual, and entirely professional. The work crewmen were courteous and professional. The job took a little longer than they had predicted, but we did not care about that and just wanted a good job done, which we feel we received. We would happily work with them again.

"Hello, my name is Jacob Quick, managing partner for Metro St. Louis Construction. Thank you so much for the glowing report. It is our sincere hope, every customer, of ours, has the same experience you did. In this fast paced world, so many people don't take the time to tell someone "job well done" and even fewer people take the time, just to say "thank you". With that in mind, from all of us here at Metro, " thank you so very much for choosing Metro St. Louis Construction to replace your roof." We look foreword to working with you in the future. Sincerely, Jacob S. Quick"

Originally, the work was to start approximately three weeks after the agreement was signed. It took them about eight weeks to scheduled, start and complete the project. Overall they did a very good job but their selection of plywood used to replace the decking could have been of better quality.

"I appreciate Member's input. We want to learn ways to grow and increase customer satisfaction. We will work on our communication. Communication is the one thing that is siscussed in every company meeting. We would ask that Member and anyone reviewing this review, to take into account, we had a fire gut our entire office, in mid-November, it was a total loss. The most important thing we lost was information. this caused us nearly three weeks in overall production delays. However, proper communication with the customer would have provided better peace of mind. Once again, thank you for the feed-back, we will continue to strive for improvement in all we do. I invite the customer to call the office at 314-567-4557 and ask for me; Jacob Quick, managing partner, if there is any way to make this a more successful project. Sincerely, Jacob S. Quick"

The service was fantastic. The quality of work and price were also really good. They maintained contact the whole time. They were on time, and they were able to put on the roof in one day, and it only took a half day for the fascia work. Everyone I came in contact with, from the owners to the sales people to the workers, they were all very cordial and polite. I would highly recommend them to anyone else.

The experience of working with Metro St. Louis Construction was great. They were honest, reliable, caring and did quality work. They problem solved a water leakage issue that had been looming over our heads for awhile and another company was not able to fix. We recommend them highly as a company to turn to for their services. They will be returning to replace the drywall in our bay window that was damaged by the water leakage problem. This is a company that I trust!!! We have warranties on our roof and windows and I know that I can turn to them if we have any concerns. Thank you to Metro St. Louis Construction for doing such a terrific job on our home and thank you especially to Jacob Quick, Christian, and all the fine workers who replaced our roof and windows, etc.!!!!

It was a sub contractor that actually did the work. I ended up paying $100 more for some strip edge that I shouldn't have had to pay for. The subs were all Mexican. They didn't do a bad job. They didn't have the right equipment with them to do the job, which slowed down the job. I know when I am being taken and it wasn't worth arguing about the $100. I think the price was $105 too high. It wouldn't have been so bad, but I did specify what I wanted at the beginning. I wouldn't pay until I saw the whites of their eyes, so they were pretty responsive. They were delayed a couple of days but that was because of the weather. I probably would not hire this company in the future.
Response from Metro St. Louis Construction, LLC
"My name is Jacob Quick. I am co-owner and a managing partner for Metro St. Louis Construction. I would like to take a minute to address the concerns posted by the member. Metro St. Louis Construction has never been contracted with the member. However, we did locate a work agreement between us and a different person at where the member was listed on personal checks that were submitted for payment. We will consider her a party with a vested interest. I am aware of this particular job as I am the one who had to approve it since it fell too far below our normal retail pricing. I am also the person that handles the production portion of this business. This is the first time I have learned of any concerns regarding this project. I am sure I could have addressed the concerns much better, and sooner, had I heard of them at the time of the project completion in August. We used 30 year laminated Architectural style shingle due to an un-availability of the 30 year 3-tab due to color choice. This is the first time I have heard of a complaint to a no-charge upgrade for a shingle that matches the existing house shingles. I am also under the understanding that the other person was made aware of and approved the change. I am sorry for any confusion. Our roofing crew is paid as a sub-contractor, something we proudly display in our initial presentation, to reduce everyday overhead cost and save our customers money. All of the sub-contractors are thoroughly vetted prior to hiring. I have worked exclusively with this crew for over five years and think Mr. Yanez (our sub-contractor) would be very upset by such a derogatory remark about his race, considering he has lived here for more than 30 years and worked very hard to gain his legal U.S. citizenship all those years ago. Not to mention, he mentors Latino immigrants on obtaining legal citizenship and makes all of his own workers provide proof of a legal right to work and clean criminal backround check. It is insulting to me personally that the member would insinuate that unless she saw the "whites of our eyes" that she would have received anything less than a timely and professional project. Furthermore, for her to say she was "being taken" is inflammatory and unsubstantiated. We were in a signed agreement. We were not made aware by the other person that any gutter apron was requested, is not on the contract and is therefore chargeable as an extra. The entire project was completed in under 3 hours in a manner exceeding local industry standard and there were no departures made from the job site, with the exception of going to get the gutter flashing. We also have a signed certificate of completion between Metro St. Louis Construction and he stating that he was satisfied with the project. I believe that had we ever actually met her, much of this could have been avoided. I find it unfortunate that the first time I have ever heard of someone is in an email were the livelihood of my business could be adversely affected without the benefit of actually having met, spoken to or contracted with that person. I am happy to make myself available to the member at her convenience to arrive at an amicable solution to her concerns and can be reached at 314-489-0845. I hope that she will be able to join the hundreds of satisfied customers instead of the one unhappy customer of all of 2009. Sincerely, Jacob S Quick"
