Super helpful excellent fix on engineered hardwood floor

My house flooded causing us to need a new floor. Manor installed a laminate floor for us twenty years ago. He did such an excellent job that I have always remembered him, so was delighted when I found out he and his wife had their own floor store. There are so many flooring stores to choose from in Austin but I wanted to use one that I knew would still be in business for a long time and would give good service. They have a fantastic selection (too much in fact making choices hard). Miranda was so helpful. When I explained how stressful having my house torn up was she said she would do what she could to speed up the installation which I appreciated. Within a few days she called to say they could get right to it. The crew they sent was professional, polite, and oh so nice. They worked so hard and fast and did an excellent job with everything. They left my house clean at the end of the day. They were prompt and thorough. I am sooooo happy with the floor, the workers, Miranda and Manor. If you need a new floor I highly recommend MG Floors.

Excellent! Manor came out and did the estimate which was a less than the competition - M G Floors is on Angie's List. We opted to use tile that looked like wood on the 1st floor - house is just under 3,000 sq ft. My sister and neighbor did the same with tile due to their dogs. No more scratched wood floors and they are perfect. New carpet and thick pad for. second floor and it looks and feels great! Miranda is the manager/owner along with Manor and she walked us thru everything, time frames, etc. Two crews - one for carpet and one for tile. Both were timely, accurate, cleaned up after the project, etc. M G Floors has an excellent showroom on Anderson Mill Rd east of Hwy 183 which also helped us decide. Worth the trip. I would use them again without hesitation.

Excellent. The crew arrived on time, installed the tile, hauled away the old carpet and cleaned up. Came back the next day to grout and again were on time and cleaned up before they left. There were no unpleasant surprises and the bid came in less than what the Costco contractor had quoted me.

They were great! The only issue I have is no one came over after the workers were finished to go over the floors and see if I had any questions on the install.

Installation was on time and quick. However, the installers took chunks out of my new baseboards about every 5-10 feet. They also didn't trim closet doors, so they very difficult to open. I contacted M&G about the baseboard damage and closet doors and was told to find a contractor and get quotes. Not sure why the burden is on me to get these fixed. Everything else was good, but they get a C for professionalism.

They arrived on time, did the work without making a mess and without any surprises. I plan on having them tile a 2nd room.

The work crew was terrific. They removed the old carpet and crummy flooring, tore out the baseboards, prepped the floor, moved furniture, expertly installed the tile, and kept everything amazingly clean while doing so. We were told the job would take about 4 days. It really only took 2 1/2. We did the entire downstairs, approx. 850 sq. ft. We are very happy with the entire project. Miranda and Manor were wonderful to work with. We decided to install the new baseboards ourselves since we want to do some painting, but could have chosen to have that done too.

They communicated both delivery and installation times well. The installer was highly experienced. Overall we are very pleased with the installation and final product. <br />

They did a wonderful job on the install. There is one transitional area to tile that has proved to be a little problematic since the floors were put down, but they have always been willing to come out quickly to take care of the issue. Part of the problem is the texture of the existing tile. They have laid wood, carpet and tile for us and always done a great job. Their staff is trustworthy, and I would recommend them.

<p>It was a very pleasant process.  The folks at MG and the folks who installed the tile were all great to work with during this process.  I was able to take samples home to have in my house until the day of the estimate, and they took them back to the store that day of estimate.  The scheduling of the installation after I decided to go with them was quick and very reasonable.  They were also very willing to work with my work schedule and finished up the last touches on a Saturday morning.  </p> <p>The finished product is super, and the folks were very complete in cleaning up after themselves.  The reason why there is a "B" on punctuality is because the installers were a bit later than expected on the first day...no big deal and all still ended well.</p> <p>There was a problem in that there was only 1 tile left for subsequent if needed for damaged tile.  Miranda was very accommodating and ordered another box of each for me to have for potential repair/future use.</p> <p>Great folks...reasonable price...would definitely use again.</p> <br />

Awesome onsite crew - professional - punctual - worked hard, and addressed details. <br /> This was "loose lay" or "fixed/glued" linoleum panels. The initial installation was fast and clean, and most importantly - looked great - initially. After a couple of months concentric 'ripples' began to appear in the kitchen tile. They came out and suggested that the "cutting down the glare" from the kitchen windows would eliminate the 'ripples.' Really. Since that time - we can see that the glue was improperly applied in that the manufacturer calls for a figure 8 application of glue, rather than the wide arcs that were applied and are now PAINFULLY apparent. <br /> We loved the tile - very stone like - until it molded to the waves of the glue underneath. Now it just looks like plastic flooring.  <br /> Very nice people - but at this point - very unhappy with the result. Unless M&G choose to rectify the improper installation - we'll do it ourselves - and make sure anyone who asks knows why. Nice or not - and unfortunately - not the results for which we were paid, and a less than sufficient response when they came to sing and dance about removing the 'glare' from our windows to 'eliminate' the problem.' The problem was an improper installation. We're happy to work with them to rectify it - but their onsite song and dance indicates they want us to just go away. We have. And so should you if you're thinking of M&G for your flooring needs. <br /> ~r&a

<strong>Good:</strong> <br /> 1. Nice showroom with great selection and easy pricing option to understand from a customer perspective <br /> 2. Eric did a good work on the flooring for one room <br /> <strong>Bad:</strong> <br /> 1. Eric used our bed and tables for keeping their tools without covering them first <br /> 2. Bad cleanup job at the end of the project ? our deck is a mess and it was not cleaned <br /> 3. Manor and Miranda seemed to have enough business that they were rushed during any communication. We wanted to do work with a small business but finally ended up realizing that they are unprofessional. <br /> <strong>Ugly:</strong> <br /> 1. Miranda was very rude and defensive to criticisms of our feedback. Eric is her son and she kept defending his work even though we sent her pictures of the bad cleanup job. If we had an opportunity to tell him, I think he would have listened. <br /> 2. Scheduling mismanagement by Miranda with poor customer communication skills <br /> 3. We ended up signing for a zero percent credit card for a large job with them. We are not going to be doing this job with them <br /> so we are in a state of limbo after wasting a credit inquiry <br /> 4. We started work with them to fix my allergy issues and now they wasted so much of our time. We have to restart the whole <br /> process of finding the next contractor?  <br />

Very well. Although they underestimated the amount of laminate needed and there was a 5-day delay in finishing the job, it was well done by their fast, efficient workers. Manor came by every day to check on the progress. My only criticism is the look of the quarter round bull nose molding that they installed after the floors were laid, it has not held up over the first year of the floor's life and looks bad. ALso, the workers forgot to nail in several lengths of the molding sufficintly so that it came loose 3-4 months later. I attached it as it was not a big deal. I would definitely use M&G again. <br />

They arrived on time and completed the work. In moving the bedroom end tables a drawer pull was broken off by one of the workers. He informed me of the problem. I ended up having to make a repair on the pull because I couldn't find a match on line or at the store where I bought the the tables. <br />

<p>We were very pleased with our experience with MG Floors and will be using them for several more projects in our house.  We had a basic idea of what we wanted, but really wanted to be able to shop available flooring options in a showroom, with quality professional assistance.  Moreover, we liked the idea of a local family run business that we felt we could trust.  MG delivers on all of this.  Miranda helped us in the showroom, but also left us alone for a long time and let us just look without any pressure.  When we picked something we liked - Manor came out and measured that afternoon, and we had a quote an hour later.  We had a few emergencies come up that put off the actual installation for a few months - but Miranda put no pressure on us and when we went back, she still honored the price and was able to start a few days later.</p> <p>Installation was completely smooth and the work was done in part, and overseen by, Miranda and Manor's son.  He was just as nice and professional as his parents, and after talking with him I felt completely comfortable leaving him a key and giving them access to the house throughout the installation.  The original estimate for the work was five days, but they were able to finish it in 3 and a half.  Once completed, they gave me plenty of time to walkthrough everything, fixing any minor thing I pointed out.  We've been thrilled with the end product and know we can call them if there are any issues.  We definitely will be using them again.</p> <p>We received several quotes for the specific floors we chose - and while MG wasn't the cheapest, they most definitely weren't the most expensive (they were over $2000 cheaper than some quotes).  We were glad to spend a little extra with MG however given the professional experience we received and the comfort of knowing that they will be there if we have future issues.</p> <br />

The job was done very well. After the installation, I didn't like the color of the half-inch round molding in my kitchen, and Manor redid the molding, managing to match the color of my cabinets perfectly. Prior to the job, my husband and I narrowed down our choices at the showroom. Manor then brought those samples to our house so we could make our final decision on site. The process was painless. I am glad I found MG on Angie's List. <br />

Manor came to our home to discuss all of our options to install hard wood flooring in our home. He answered all of our questions with the utmost professionalism and courtesy. Miranda at the showroom also helped us select more choices, answered questions on pricing, delivery, and start date. Both Miranda and Manor made us feel at ease in the entire process. The showroom was well lit, very clean, professional looking, well stocked, and located in a local, easy to get to area of town. I really liked the fact that MG Floors was not one of those big box stores where a different salesman helps you and its not a personalized experience. A job this big and costly is important to us and we look at the entire experience being top rated all the way from the moment we enter the showroom to the moment the installer leaves our home. Customer Service is vital to us. We were not looking for a deal or a quick job. We highly recommend visiting MG Floors and talking to both Manor and Miranda. <br /> Eric was the installer of our wood floors. He removed the tile, which was a massive task. He installed about 700 sq feet of mixed plank, hand scraped, mixed lengths, and widths of wood, which takes much more precision and forethought to get it done right. He showed up every day on time and was very pleasant to be around. When someone spends 7 full days with you in your home and you have children and pets.....well its important that he goes the extra mile to be courteous and respectful. He was approachable and very trustworthy. I felt more comfortable with him in my home than any other workmen in my entire lifetime of home construction. But the most important aspect was his craftsmanship. He looked at the job as an art piece. He had great passion for what he did. He took his time and the fully committed to the job as if he was working on his own home. I highly recommend having Eric install wood floors. <br /> MG Floors was amazing. We were looking for the total package and that's what we got. I will also use them again when we have new carpet installed in our upstairs. <br />
