All of the people I worked with in the store were very helpful and professional. The install was a bit rough. I was not given any kind of time frame (it ended up being 9a - 7p) so I remained in the house (garage, mostly) for most of the install. I had some reservations about the carpeting on the day of install. It definitely looked different in the outside lighting, as well as the inside, once it was installed. I thought it was a gray undertone and outside it looked very tan and, once installed, it had a pink tone to it. My husband replaced all of the lighting in our home and that has helped tremendously. It was a long day of installation and I could tell, toward the end, the guys were anxious to be done. They had me quickly walk through to check out the carpet and I signed and paid for it, but while I was taking a few minutes to check the color issue in each room (lighting was changing since it was now closer to sunset) I went downstairs, thinking they were cleaning up, and they were gone. Two of my frustrations were their snack wrappers, cans...still laying around the garage, but most importantly, all of the caret fibers blowing around the garage, into the driveway and then the surrounding grass area of my neighbors and common areas. It took me another 30 minutes to sweep and vacuum the best that I could before it blew down the street. I did not find that to be very professional or courteous, though I did appreciate the care given to our newly epoxied garage flooring, given they were using the garage to cut the carpet for installation. We were not moved into the house yet, as we were having flooring done both upstairs and downstairs. That being said, it seemed like they had done a very quick vacuuming job, so I decided to revacuum the upstairs the next day. As I was walking around to vacuum, I stepped on MANY staples. I had taken my shoes off, as I had asked the family to do when coming upstairs on the new carpet. I have had homes recarpeted several times and, honestly, I have never stepped on any staples. I was willing to overlook a few but it seemed like an unreasonable amount of staples to be finding after they and myself had vacuumed, and then I stepped on a full sized nailhead that was not properly tacked down, so I called Michael's and they sent someone out the next day to look at it. I was told it was a nail used to stretch the carpet for installation and should not have been left behind. My concern with the staples and nail was that I have two diabetic sons and foot injuries or infections can be especially dangerous for them. They removed it and went on their way. It has been over six weeks now. I have not stepped on any staples recently. Overall, I am happy with the carpeting, though I did pay to upgrade the padding to their premium, memory foam padding, I cannot say I feel very impressed with that or how it feels to walk on it. I have upgraded padding purchasing carpet in previous homes (in San Diego) and have felt a noticable difference in how cushy it feels. I will have to assume perhaps the other benefits stated in the upgrade will hold true. Also, I didn't think about it in the moment, but there was not one scrap of carpet left behind, which I found odd. Usually, you are given any remnants to use as scrap pieces for the doorway, garage or something, and any larger pieces can be saved in the event you need to do a repair. I was only left with the fibers blowing in the wind. I am not sure if I would recommend or use this company again. They were friendly in the office/showroom, but I do not feel they have good oversight of their crew in the field.
