Disaster from start to end. Started the project 7 weeks late. Unresponsive to our phone calls or promised to show up and then didn't. Unreliable, would show up early in the morning, work an hour or two, leave, and not show up again for days. Always had a excuse...his crew, his health, the materials, another job. Obviously knew how to do a job well but was always in such a hurry the work was poorly done. Unprofessional, when asked to fix a streaky ceiling he responded with yelling, screaming, swearing, and slamming doors. Left a royal mess that took the owners a month to clean up - touching up missed spots in ceiling paint, repainting all the rooms with a second coat because the coat he and his crew did was so spotty. Cleaning up the spackle and paint spatter, drips, spills, etc.... Trying to clean up the leftover oil based ceiling spackle that he disposed of on our newly seeded front lawn. By the end of the job, we just let him go and cleaned up his mess ourselves rather than deal with him any longer. This was last summer; we held off leaving a review thinking maybe in hindsight we would feel differently about Dan and his work. Not. You really don't want to deal with this man.

Very fast - replaced the whole deck in a couple of hours

Amendment to previously written review on 5/21 Pros: Returned my initial call within a few hours. Cons: Everything else. From the day Dan Michaud and his team showed up nothing really went well. He did not show up on the week days he had "planned" to show up on. Then showed up on a Saturday at 6:30am. There was no communication in the change of schedule from his end despite multiple follow ups. With complete dis-regard for the weekend day and given that we have two kids under the age of 6, his team started setting up shop in the back and playing loud music. His rushed methods of replacing the boards showed for the poor quality of the job performed. Although he did come back to fix and replace the boards after 6-7 weeks had passed with little to no communication in between for his absence. Since then I've given him another 5-7 weeks to come back and re-stain the replaced boards for which we already paid for and he has not returned, with no calls or emails. For replacing the boards, he used nails and hammered them versus using decking screws. The nailing job is clearly indicative of a novice handyman poor quality of the job performed. Left the job unfinished and has not returned to honor the original contract. Ignore the positive the reviews for this business and research another handyman service. With Dan Michaud Handyman service, its only mediocre experience that turns to bad very quickly and escalates to worse in a matter of days of dealing with him. Excellent, went smoothly

My deck was redone in what seemed like record timing. Michaud Home Improvement crew arrived at 7am and by 11am my deck was completed. It looks great and I'm very happy with the finished product.

I mistakenly paid by the job for this "handyman" service, instead of by the hour and for materials paid (with invoice showing amount paid). Paid $650 total for about one hour's worth of work. Outrageous! $350 was the charge to replace what ended up being a 1 foot by 3 foot piece of wood (which is not plumb and not nailed properly); $200 to fix the faucet, which resulted in a perforated hose on the kitchen sprayer (step dad replaced the hose); I was called twice less than 12 hours before the requested start time and then the principal of the business cancelled hours later, in the morning, indicating he was not feeling well; once on the job, the men left without completing all tasks, no one took the time to show what was done and ensure all tasks were complete (they appeared to be in a hurry to get to another job); requests for credit for having to replace hose and for what ended up being a very small job installing the 1 by 3 ft plank were refused or ignored. The business representative became very unpleasant to deal with. For me, this was my worst experience with a contractor. I will not ever again rely on an "Angies' List super service award" .

Michaud did some roof work for us 7 years ago. We were please so we rehired him to do some handyman work. It was a disaster. He arrived with an assistant at 6:45 a.m. and at 9:30 I paid him $1,000 in cash. I did not check the work because I trusted him having used him previously. The work was shabby (screens flopping), no cleanup (mud on decking and on carpet in screenhouse), molding replaced backwards with stain side inside, and neglected to do the screening on the door. I phoned him back. He returned with attitude and fixed only 1/2 of the screening. (He said I only told him about the one side. One would think he would have checked the other.) I phoned him back. He returned extremely angry, pulling into the drive at an inappropriate rate of speed, pounded the side of his truck to obtain his tools, ripped the gate off the fence (which in his defense was broken and was to be replaced) and completed the job. I sent a letter to the Better Business Bureau and a copy to him with my concerns. He retaliated by sending my husband and me a letter filled with curse words, swear words and insults. I am horrified by this experience.

Excellent. Dan was very upfront about what needed to be done and how long it would take. Have worked with him a umber of times before and would not hesitate to call him again when I needed work done.

Dan came to assess the job and came back with a fair quote very quickly.  He started the job on time and address all questions and concerns very quickly. He was always early and i never had trouble reaching him if I had to.  I was happy with the job. <br />

<p>I experienced a small leak from my roof this winter after having a new roof installed last fall by Sanville Roofing. Mr. Sanville hired Michaud to inspect the roof. Michaud came out immediately and claimed the leak was caused by a mid-roof ice dam. He cleared the ice dam and was on his way quickly. No other leaking occurred after that. </p> <p>We never had roof leakage problems before during the winter and I don't blame the new roof. I suspect it might be because of escaping heat buildup from new ductwork installed in our attic last spring. We plan on having the ductwork sprayed with foam insulation to help.</p> <br />
