Mike's Painting & Pressure Washing

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They had received good reviews, so I trusted that they would do a good job.  They did a poor job and didn't even complete the job after accepting payment in full.  After poor communication and postponing several times, they finally arrived to my house late. They pressure washed for a few hours and then left.  The next day, they were late again.  They started out hand staining the deck and were doing a decent job in the beginning.  Then they decided to start spraying it to save time, which was a terrible idea.  They told me "spraying is more even."  The spraying left a very thin, non-effective coat that left many exposed and patchy areas.  They rushed the job and left a day early.  Spraying saves them time, but doesn't do lay as good of a coat.  They said the job was done and it was getting dark, so I trusted them and paid them, and they left town.  What a mistake.  The next day, I found a lot of patchy work, exposed areas and incomplete areas.  They even left some of their trash and equipment lying around.  I contacted them and they said they would come back and fix it sometime.  THEY NEVER DID.  They said "the job's not done until you are satisfied and we stand behind our work."   For 3 months they kept promising to return.  Finally, they stopped returning texts, calls and emails.  4 MONTHS LATER after trying to reach them, I finally got them the answer the phone and they HUNG UP ON ME after I told them who I was.  When I did the math on the job, they worked 36 hours and got paid $2500.  They told me the materials cost was $1000. That means that they paid themselves $41 per labor hour to do the job, which is twice the local rate.  I gave them every opportunity to make good on the job and they lied to me and ignored me.  To sum it up, they charged too much, they did a poor job, they quit too early, and they broke promises to finish the incomplete job.  Sadly, the stain that they laid down is already coming up in areas, chipping, and molding, so they clearly applied a poor product and didn't prep the deck correctly.  I am now having to re-stain many areas of the deck again and also patch the areas that they never completed.  I feel ripped off.  I DO NOT recommend for anyone to hire these inconsiderate and unprofessional painters. <br />

Mike and Crystal were very professional from the first phone contact through the completion of the work. They showed up on time, their work was neat and they worked very efficiently. My windows were in pretty bad shape. They really took their time and prepped them very well which showed in the finished product. When asked to redo or touch up anything it was done without question. In the end we received a very good paint job on a timely basis and at a competitive price. I have already recommended Mike's Painting to others in my neighborhood and would use him again for future painting needs. <br />

I called Mike in the morning just hoping he would be able to come by and give me an estimate in a day or two. He said he would be working in my area and would call me that afternoon when he was clear. He called me back exactly when he said he would and arrived within 30 minutes. He gave me a quick estimate which was a fair price for the work to be done. It was late in the afternoon but he said he would do the job while he was there. He was very careful not to harm the siding on the house or my plants and flowers. He finished just before dark. It wasn't  until the next day that I could see what a good job he did. All the mold, mildew and dirt was gone and the house and decks looked great. I was very pleased with his work. Would definitely hire Mike again and would recommend him to my friends.

<p>We recently purchased a 2nd home on Lake James with an exterior that is 100% cedar.  The exterior was in serious need of cleaning and re-staining.  It had not been maintained; and, had a significant amount of mold staining and several areas of the trim had the original finish peeling off.<br /> <br /></p> <p>We contracted with Mike and Crystal to prep and re-stain the exterior of our home.  Throughout the process, Mike demonstrated thoroughness, competency and responsibility.  Mike and Crystal took personal responsibility to ensure they delivered a quality product.  Mike kept his commitments and did not compromise his work product even when faced with the stripping process taking more time than he expected.  He completed the project per the schedule he committed.</p> <p>Mike demonstrated a high attention to detail in the finishing process and ensured the project was completed to my satisfaction.  The home looks beautiful...we could not be happier.</p> <p>I solicited bids from several paint contractors and evaluated several before selecting Mike.  His pricing was very competitive versus several other contractors; but, I never observed where Mike cut corners.</p> <p>I would definitely recommend MIke's Painting and will plan to use Mike again when we have painting needs.</p> <br />

I bought this service on a Friday and they came on Saturday. They arrived at 10 am and were finished by noon. <br /> I asked them to clean my porch and my sidewalk as well (this was not included in the Deal that I prepurchased) and he did that at no  extra cost. <br /> They were clean, professional, and very good.  I would certainly use them again. <br />

I would highly recommend this business.  We had them come and restain the deck and at first just powerwash the house.  They scheduled the work right away.  After doing the pressure washing, there were some areas with paint chips under the soffit.  Mike offered to repaint those for free.  During this, they noticed areas of the soffit that were rotten, so we had them repair those areas of the wood.  They also fixed a few screens that were damaged during the pressure washing for free.   <br /> Everything turned out great, and we are very happy we had this work done.  Mike and Crystal are very professional and easy to work with.  I will be having them do some more work on our house in the near future. <br />

From the start Mike was very professional and pleasant when he came to give us an estimate for painting the outside soffit around the whole house outside, porch railings, pickets and stairs. When we decided to have him do the job, as his price was reasonable for the work wanted, we called and he stated he would send a contract and have the work done by 10-30-14, which was 2 weeks away and would take 1 1/2 days to complete. He called on 10-21-14 and stated he would be at the house on 10-23-14. All the work was done and it looks terrific. There was no mess to clean up, they did it all.  We are very happy with his work and would highly recommend him and have him do any future painting needed at our home. <br />

Timely and relatively tidy.  They did a good job explaining all the steps and how long the process would take. <br />

<p>The pressure washing was complete and thorough.  It was neither rushed nor haphazard.  Inclement weather required that Mike stand down for several days, but at the first opportunity he and his crew of five experienced painters arrived on the job.  This rather surprised me because on five different house painting occasions (here and elsewhere) one painter and his assistant took several days, even weeks to do the job. This large crew began and completed the job in one day. One day!</p> <p>Anyway, this crew of five immediately fell to, with some painting door trim, some painting window trim, some painting the tall wooden chimney and the others on the house proper.  I can think of several words to describe these craftsmen.  They all were personable, neat, workman-like, courteous, and appeared to be having fun.  In a word they were gentlemen.</p> <p>A note about our house.  It is a pseudo log cabin common in this area of the North Carolina mountains.  The logs consist of rectangular 6"x12" pine painted grey and separated by a 3" white "plastic" chinking material.  This repetitive separation of colors made their job difficult and slow.  Use of painter's tape was inappropriate so every color separation had to be accomplished by hand... and this was done magnificently. Their thoroughness can be illustrated by their treatment of the chinking.  Since its original application in the late 90's it had never been painted.  So imagine our surprise when Mike and the crew painted the chinking with a brilliant white concrete stain. Made it look like new, added hours to their job and beauty to our home.<br /> <br /></p> <p>I called Mike for an estimate and he responded promptly. Since I am wheelchair-bound my son went over what we needed. Not only did this estimate include the work, but all paint and all other materials. After reviewing the job an estimate was provided the same day.  It was several hundreds of dollars cheaper than the next lowest estimate. Incidentally, door weather stripping was repairable and paintable, however Mike chose to replace it with new.  This was not included in his original estimate, but he refused to accept additional compensation. He stuck to his initial estimate--to the penny.</p> <p>After accepting  the estimate we were placed on Mikes work schedule. He called before arriving for pressure washing and painting As stated rainy weather delayed painting, but this was a necessary delay.  There is no complaint about responsiveness or punctuality.  Mike responded promptly and came when he said he would. Can't ask for better than that.<br /> <br /></p> <p>As to quality of work, it is superb.  I am unable to view the entire house, but three highly critical individuals have gone over  every square foot.  These are my wife, my son and his wife.  All were extremely pleased.  And believe me, if my wife and daughter-in-law aren't happy, no one is happy. They found no fault with anything.  No trampled flowers.  No missed spots.  No sloppy work.. And very important,  a complete and proper clean up. My wife says that the crew seemed to do their best to please and that the house looks better than it did when new.</p> <p>In short, these guys were complete professionals.  Mike  showed his trustworthiness and I would feel no qualms about referring him to anyone. Mike responded to my request the next day. He was on time, professional and very knowledgeable about the services I needed.  <br /> He did an excellent job and I am very pleased with the service and results. <br /> He is a motivated and efficient professional. <br />

Mike was very professional and knowledgeable. He came out, surveyed the house and discussed my options and the work to be performed. His proposal was done on-site within about 5 to 10 minutes. After he gave me the proposal, he asked about staining my decks (I was going to do it myself and the materials were sitting on the porch). I advised him I was going to do it after I returned from vacation. He offered to take care of it for me, along with the painting, for no additional charge. <br /> After I received a quote from a competitor (he knew who I had called w/o me telling him), I accepted his quote. Mike was out the next day (Friday) and power-washed the house. He returned the following Monday and painted the house and stained the deck. <br /> While Mike impressed me with his professionalism and quick response - he's got very good customer service skills - I'm a little disappointed in the work due to the fact he didn't scrape and clean up the paint that had chipped away. If I had to do it again, I would make sure this was a part of the deal. <br /> It may be partly my fault for not making it 100% clear this was part of my expectations. However, at the same time, I also feel he could have brought it up as well. For the price he charged, I really can't complain too much, considering he came in $2400.00 below his competitor (who didn't mention painting and scraping either) and the house looks good except for chipped sections. <br /> No matter - i would still use him again - and will. <br /> As a side-note, I found out Mike has other connections for handyman work and I'll more than likely go through him just simply because he's gained my trust. <br />

They were easy to schedule with. Their work was fine. I talked to him one day and he was here the next.

Mike was reasonable, responsive, quick and clean. For the most part, the home looks great. He power washed our home and deck before painting. There should have been some more prep work (scrapping) before the deck was repainted. There are already some places that are flaking off. We will be touching up the deck.

Came out at agreed upon time to give estimate.  Very professional and estimate very reasonable. Completed work as agreed.  Well pleased with the painting and the cleanup. <br />

Mike was very professional from the first phone call. He came that evening when he said he would to give us a estimate. <br /> We originally called for a estimate on staining our fence front and back and after talking with Mike we also asked him to pressure wash the house. He came when he said he would and did everything we asked, he even went the extra mile and stained our yard swing the same color as the fence. <br /> We were so happy with the job he did on the fence we then asked him to stain our deck, we had tried to stain it on our own last year and had really made a mess. He had to work really hard to get the stain off but he did a great job and our deck looks so good. <br /> It was a pleasure to work with Mike and we are very pleased with the work he did and will definitely use him again. He is prompt and does a high quality job. Our fence and deck look great and we have received compliments from friends and neighbors, we highly recommend him. <br /> <br /> <br />

<p>During all phases of the job (quoting, pressure washing, and painting) Mike came when promised and did a thorough job. He did all work which was agreed upon in a professional and timely manner. </p> <br />

Showed up on time,did a great job cleaned up all the mess from scraping. My house looks great ,all the neighbors commented <br /> on how good of a job they did.Yes I would hire them again .I have some inside work that needs done.He is very reasonable,I got other quotes they could not come close to his price. <br />

Mike arrive on time and was very professional. He started immediately with the house by applying cleaning chemical. He took his time and made sure every area was clean before moving on. He let water dry on house and then walked around house to make sure he did not miss anything. House and porches took about 2 hours. Mike then did detached garage the same way. The concrete driveway had not been pressured washed in 15 years and he made it look almost brand new.  He was polite and if we need anything extra done he did it without question. We have already booked him to redo our deck, repair vinyl siding and fix a couple more shingles on our roof. <br />
