Minnesota Kitchens replaced my old cabinets, countertop and backsplash with showroom quality material and design. Their installers were top notch, and the staff is very helpful and creative. This was during the supply crisis in the economy, and they weathered this difficult process with equanimity. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

We interviewed several companies when planning our main level remodel. Minnesota Kitchens came up with a great floor plan proposal that expanded our kitchen and mudroom. The new space allows for our kids and guests to be in the kitchen without being in the "business portion of the kitchen" as Chris calls it. We just love having company over now and can't wait for this holiday season. The whole team at Minnesota Kitchens did a great job and the project was executed with integrity and top notch workmanship. My wife and I would highly recommend choosing Minnesota Kitchens for your upcoming project.

Bravo! Bravo! We have fallen in love with our home again. All of our small appliances and cookware have an organized home thanks to a skillful cabinet design. Tessa and Chris really came through on the planning of the prject and their carpenters are true craftsmen. There wasn't an aspect of the space that they didn't add value with their experience of having done so many kitchen remodels. It pays to hire an expert that specializes in kitchens.

We hired Minnesota Kitchens for a big remodel (removed a load bearing wall, new flooring, cabinets, counters, etc.). We did not have a positive experience and hope our review can help others decide if this company is the right fit. Our project went 3 months past their given timeline (6 months total) and throughout the length of the project, we went days without hearing from the project manager, owner or having workers at the house. The customer service we received was abhorrent. Hitting timelines was never a priority. The lack of care or service they showed was appalling - no empathy for missing deadlines, not being able to give timelines or deliver on targets, or working to resolve issues. A major issue we experienced was that we ordered a bench mid-project to match our cabinets and to fit under our dining table. When it was installed, we saw it was too tall and we couldn't fit our legs under the table when sitting on the bench. The owner said (over text) - "it is what it is. Buy a new table" - no trying to resolve the issue or show any care for this major problem. In another text exchange regarding the backsplash tile we ordered and asked to return (due to us changing our mind), the owner admitted he allocated $450 for backsplash tile and “didn’t know how much the tile was when I ordered it” - he spent almost $1500 on backsplash tile without our authorization and when we asked to be reimbursed for the $1000 he overspent without our consent, he text back “Stop being unreasonable.” Ultimately we refused to pay and he paid for the additional money he overspent (the tile was non-returnable, unbeknownst to us, so we lost out $450 there). Our experience was stressful and lacked the customer service we expected to receive. We do not recommend hiring this company for your projects, and if you choose to, we highly recommend documenting every conversation and having written authorization of all charges, including the itemized scope of work before signing.

I started my process by meeting with three companies. After sharing my ideas I choose MN kitchens/Hale built homes because their designs were the best and were competitively priced. I'm happy with the new floor plan and the ceiling was able to be vaulted to match the conjoined space. This was an idea that I hadn't thought was possible until they brought it up. I would recommend MN kitchens/Hales Built Homes.

Slow or non-existent customer service. Text messages to find the status of work not returned. Needs to give customers updates on when each phase of work was to be done. New cabinets installed but after a week no updates when plumbing, electrical and countertops would be done. My wife and I thought they forgot about us. Happy with the cabinets but the gentleman who installed them seems to have a attitude and didn’t have any customer service experience. (Meaning he didn’t really have interest in answering any questions.) All is well with the finished product Electrical and plumbing installers were good. Again, they need to work on their communications with their customers on the timeline to complete the work.

I worked with Minnesota Kitchens for a full kitchen and dining room remodel. After doing some extensive research and comparing quotes from various contractors, I decided to go with Minnesota Kitchens. Their quote was right in line with other contractors, but what sold me on using them was their timeliness in getting back to me with their final quote/estimate. After our initial meeting, I received my estimate the next day. We then tweaked and modified a few things to get to the design and price that I was comfortable with. Tessa, their designer was a dream to work with in helping me find the ideal style and aesthetics, for my kitchen, that I was looking for. During the process, each contractor did their work in a timely manner and always left the work area clean and orderly after they were done. Any questions or issues that came up were dealt with in a timely manner. Even though the project ran over the expected timeline, I’m very pleased with my new kitchen and dining room space.

They came up with a great design for our space, which is what sold us on them versus others we had contacted for estimates. They then worked with us to determine what features to add and subtract to get to budget amount we could live with. Work was well done. Took a little longer than originally planned, but we are pleased with the results.

Horrible! Still waiting for it to be completed! Simple non complicated kitchen remodel that was promised to be done within 5 -6 weeks going on 6 months. I have turned Chris Hale into labor and industry. If you see or hear this company name RUN! Chris Hale is all about money. He lacks integrity and honesty. He is all about collecting the buck for himself then passing the buck when it comes to actually backing up his work OR doing hands on quality work himself. This contractor WILL NOT GIVE YOU AN ITEMIZATION on the breakdown on the job of supplies and materials. I have been dealing with constant failed inspections. He had an unlicensed electrician do the work in my home which caused more damage to the structure of my home! The unlicensed electrician compromised the Structral stability up to 67% in my TRUSSES where he installed the lighting. Chris was informed to have them repaired and pass re- inspection before the first heavy snow fall.... I’m still waiting and it’s Nov 5th. They installed damaged cabinets. He held one cabinet hostage until I made a payment ( I paid over 65% of the job BEFORE it even started) I was forced to proceed with a broken cabinet ( I didn’t pay for broken cabinets but that’s what I had to settle for). I had to compromise my choice on back splash three times due to inventory availability. When the backsplash finally goes for installation ..10 TILES SHORT. Currently On hold for two weeks. His cabinet installers damaged my new wooden floors just installed. I had a cold air return that needed to be redirected. I brought this to the attention to the city inspector. Chris quick fix was to just cut a hole into my new wooden floor and slap an ugly metal vent cover. When attempting to repair the trusses for first inspection they walked through my ceiling. ( you can’t make this up. I have photos for anyone wanting proof of any of my claims) They installed my microwave above my stove 2 attempts multiple holes in that cabinets won’t be able to use that cabinet for use intended. When putting the hardware (handles on the drawers ) chris try to eyeball it instead of using a templet like most professional contractors would do, he damaged the drawers with multiple holes due to misjudgment.. I have to live with these eye sores. Not him. All because he wanted to save time and money. Or maybe he just lack skills ? Damaged flooring, damaged cabinets, damaged trusses. The list just goes on. I haven’t even touched on the fact I can’t even get them to connect my kitchen sink!! They left their work area a sloppy mess. I take care of disabled adults. We have been living in our garage since JUNE. They have been tripping over their junk since then. Try. Poking for four disabled adults out of your basement and serving them in the garage. Chris Hales job site foreman had me pay their subcontractor $3500. I was told that amount would come off of my bill. Long story short. That foreman no longer works for him and I’m left holding the money bag on that one as well. I had to pay that subcontractor so that he could finish the job that the unlicensed electrician started. The subcontractor was needed to pull the permit along with to finish the more “complicated” piece of the job. Unfortunately that electrician was tragically killed in an accident before he even started. So it becomes my word only. I could go on and on. All I know is BE WARNED DO NOT HAVE MINNESOTA KITCHENS OR CHRIS HALE DO ANY WORK FOR YOUR HOME You will live to have regret. I know I do

We love our new kitchen! The quality is top-notch and communication during the remodel was good. There was variety of choices at their showroom to help us decide what we wanted the final to look like, and they will willing to make adjustments throughout the process. While there are always a few delays in a remodel this large, our overall experience was positive.

Initially good, promises galore: start/finish date, quality of work, guaranteed satisfaction with follow-ups if ever a problem occurred. Original discussion/promise was for work to be completed in 4-6 weeks, 20 weeks later job still not complete and agreement made to terminate. Scheduled dates for sub-contractors.contractor for installs promised but canceled, often with no forewarning, these too numerous to count. Custom cabinets not uniform, poor construction (no adhesive, no joinery other than nails, missing fasteners/screws for doors/drawers). Cabinet doors out of alignment, drawers not level/unaligned, large gaps were adjoined wood pieces should abut tightly. Inferior custom paint application, streaking in some areas, under paint in others. I could go on and on but the final straw was there promise to return to rectify a few of my major concerns. After 4 emails spanning 2 months no reply.

Minnesota Kitchens has been a real pleasure to work with throughout the whole process of renovating my kitchen. From our first meeting it was clear everyone was doing their best to make sure I would be happy with the finished product. All the help I received throughout the design process helped me feel confident in the early stages, and everyone was flexible during the construction stages to suit my schedule. I also appreciate how quick the response was when issues did happen. All-in-all, I would happily work with Minnesota Kitchens again on my next project. Thanks, Andrew

We worked with MN Kitchens & we came up with a design that we liked. Their design tools worked well to arrive at our final layout. We were able to incorporate some old oak from a water bed frame we had in our garage - into a window bench seat that look great. We are happy with our new kitchen.

We chose this company because they had a nice showroom, provided free design assistance, and were the lowest bidders. The schedule provided to us each week had little to no relation to what actually occurred that week. Workers arrived unexpectedly and didn’t show up when scheduled, and this went on for months. Front door was left wide open once when we were not home. A neighbor noticed it in the evening and thankfully locked up. Also, the remodels were supposed to be staggered, leaving one for us to use, but the last one was ripped out when we were gone. We returned to find no place to clean up except laundry tub and kitchen sink. The company offered a hotel, but we just roughed it. I got the impression that some of the workers were over extended and/or inexperienced. Some were very good, though. Many mistakes were made, causing further delays. In the end, though, all mistakes were corrected and the bathrooms look good. The company apologized with a gift and refunded some of the cost so I think our experience might have been atypical. I feel we got a lot for our money, but would have paid to avoid some of the aggravation.

I hired a contractor to alleviate the stress of having to contract the different entities myself to get the work done and have found myself in an even more stressful situation due to my decision to hire Minnesota Kitchens. This could turn into a VERY long review if I listed every issue that I have had with this company back to before the work even began on June 26, when they almost ordered the wrong color upper cabinet - I happened to catch it when I stopped in their showroom for a completely different reason. Since then, it has been one issue after another, and now I sit with the company suddenly charging additional costs that should have been part of the original estimate - nothing was communicated to me AT ALL, then I suddenly received emails yesterday notifying me of new fees for work done 2 months ago that should have been part of the scope of work to begin with. Let me explain a few of the issues: -Doors to my home and garage were left unlocked at the beginning of the process, even after being SO emphatic about how important it was to relock behind them, especially as I would be out of town from time to time - thank goodness nothing was stolen out of either. -I have unfinished cabinets that have been sitting unfinished for almost 2 months now with no resolution other than "oh, we're trying to find someone to finish them...our cabinet guy is too busy." Seriously? The last conversation with the contractor ended with "we'll get on all the work and hopefully have things done in the next couple of weeks. I hope to have a new cabinet guy coming in Oct 1, but I'll see if he can come earlier and do a favor for me" Well, we're almost at that couple of weeks, and hardly anything has been done & I have received no updates at all - all I got yesterday in response to my enquiry is "I'll get back to you tomorrow." -I have a deck that sits unfinished even with all the material in for weeks - and don't get me started on the quality of work that has been done there. I have since had 2 deck guys look at it, one who saw what was being done as it was going up (he was doing work for my neighbor next door) & wondering what the heck they were doing. I may have to have him re-do it. I was told there would be a decking company that would be doing the work, however it turns out that they hired what looked like college kids to dig the holes for the supports (who apparently didn't measure correctly before pouring the cement and they are SO uneven that 2 of the vertical wooden deck & balcony supports are almost off the edge of the concrete supports) and a couple of their own guys who told me they haven't really done some of this type of work before. It looks terrible, and I wonder if it will pass inspection. I'm pretty sure there is water intrusion between the stucco and the wood siding of the house, because they never put the flashing in on the house side of the upper & lower decks. Add to that the fact that the uneven concrete supports come up a good 8-10 inches ABOVE ground, so there is no way to cover them up, even with landscaping. They look terrible. And the company keeps telling me "oh, its fine." Honey, I have put in 2 decks, and I have NEVER dealt with this lack of quality of work or concern before. At the beginning of the deck process, the original stairs were ripped off the back, (leaving me no access out the back to get to the garage and back yard), then practically the next day was told, "the company booked a lot of deck/yard jobs, so the start of YOUR deck will be delayed now. Is that ok? (Well, why didn't you know that before you ripped the darn thing off to begin with?!) We really want to spend our time getting you back into a fully functioning kitchen because that's more important." Well, I said I guess so, not realizing that there would be ZERO work on the deck for a whole month, keeping me from getting out the back door, and I STILL can't move back into my kitchen because the cabinets aren't done. -They buried kitchen lighting under sheetrock, so they had to cut back into it to find it...thank god I hadn't already put the backsplash on! These are just a few frustrations with the process. There are more. I will say the framing of the wall that was opened up was done well and looks great and the ceiling and light installation does as well, so it's not all negative. But, in general, the lack of communication with this company, and the issue with overbooking and understaffing the jobs has been a disaster for me and has caused a huge amount of stress. And now no warning to the 2 emails received yesterday notifying me of additional costs, most of which were all new to me! The calendar is also RARELY correct and they never post photos of the work...this was one of the reasons I hired this company - so that when i traveled, I would know what was going on & I could arrange my schedule to be around when more important work was happening. Luckily I just happened to be home when the fabricators were measuring for countertops, because MN kitchens gave different measurements to the cabinet company than to the countertop fabricators. I had to problem-solve with them to figure out how not to have 2 additional cuts in the middle of the countertops that would have looked bad & to not have to order an additional $1200-ish slab. Of course, when i called MN Kitchens with the issue I encountered with the fabricators, I had to leave a message, and they never got back to me. shocker. Re: scheduling, I still have NO idea what is going on, as the schedule seems to think all the work is completed. What I DO know is delay after delay with more iffey work than not. I really don't know what to do at this point. The contractor stated a time of completion for 8-12 weeks, and Sept 18 was week 12. Today is the 21st and there is still quite a long punch list. The bottom line is, they overbooked, understaffed & apparently had to bring in others who unfortunately don't seem to know how to do proper work. I hate having to post negative reviews like this, and if it was just one or two issues along the way, that would be one thing as I understand things happen, but this has gone beyond ridiculous. MN Kitchens, you don't seem to be concerned at all and give lip service with no real action. You might need to put yourself in the shoes of your clients and ask yourselves if what you're doing is ok. PLEASE give me a reason to go back and edit this review to a more positive one!

I have had a lot of luck with Angie’s List reviews in the past, but my experience with Minnesota Kitchens was very different. They were highly reviewed and gave us an estimate which was in line with the other estimates we received. The initial meetings were helpful and we picked out some great colors and design for our kitchen. Unfortunately, the cabinets we ordered were delayed by a week from the manufacturer, which put their schedule behind. They demoed and installed the basic cabinets in a day, but then we waited. Minnesota Kitchens kept saying they were too busy and could not get to us. We waited weeks to have the countertop measured and then waited for the installation. Once the countertops were installed, we waited weeks to have the water installed. Finally, after waiting and being told “someone is coming today” over and over, we had someone show up at 8:30 pm to install the water. The water was put in incorrectly and leaked over our new cabinets. We could ask over and over to have it fixed and they said someone would come. We waited and when they finally came, they reported they could not find the leak. We still had large puddles under our sink in the base cabinet. After several weeks and several attempts, they finally found that the garbage disposal was put in wrong and leaked. Our new base cabinet have large warps in the bottom due to the leaking. There were other things that we installed incorrectly and had to be repeatedly asked to be fixed. Our dishwasher was installed several inches sticking out from the cabinet and crooked. (we would bump it and turn it on if we tried to get close to our cabinet). Minnesota Kitchens told us it could not be moved in. They reinstalled it five different times (with weeks in between) and finally was able to get in correctly. There were cords running along our countertops which we had to repeatedly ask to be moved. The tile person put brown grout in around the tile that had to be moved to put in the cabinets. The tile was dirty from the construction, but he actually blended brown grout in into the white grout which was there He came several times before the correct color was put in. There were other frustrating issues like the granite for the countertops being cut on an angle (we had to send back a refrigerator due to this and go yet another week without a refrigerator so we could get one which fit in the opening) to add to the list. At the end of the project we noticed cracks and chips in our new cabinets. It took several weeks for Minnesota Kitchens to get back to us about this issue. When they did they said, it was a defect in the cabinets and they sent the manufacture’s representative to look at the cabinets. (He was great—he came in a couple of days and fixed a lot of the errors which he could during his inspection). The cabinet representative said that cabinets were installed incorrectly and had to be fixed. We contacted Minnesota Kitchens about this. Our first contact with them was in June.
