Miracle Method

First I would like to say I would NOT HESITATE to hire Miracle Method Surface Restoration from Kensington, MD again. The office receptionist (Margaret) and the two gentlemen that did the cut out and install (Carlos and Luis) were EXCELLENT and I would rate them an "A" in all aspects of their roles in the company. The C responsiveness and C Punctuality related to the following: (1) a prearranged appointment resulted in a no show by the company head (this is not our residence); and (2) the representative that did come the next day did not have any photos of previous work or paperwork to move the project ahead. If it wasn't for Margret in the front office we would not have used this company; however, she went out of her way to get a photo of a cut out, ensured that the proposal was revised for details, and scheduled the work. Like I said in the beginning, I would gladly hire and recommend this company. Just be sure to confirm appointments.

Miracle Method did a great job resurfacing the floor, the bathtub and surround, and the shower and surround. Everything looks new. They even cleaned our existing shower doors to look new. They removed the toilets to resurface the floor and placed new wax rings when they replaced the toilets. The only negative part of the resurfacing process was the smell of the chemicals they use. We had to open a lot of windows to vent the odor.

Tech was 30 minutes late and went to the wrong address but once he arrived the work was done quickly and looks good.

I would recommend this company for doing resurfacing. I was particularly pleased with the results on wall tiles around our bathtub that would have otherwise have been very costly to remove and replace. The company was very responsive. <br>

They were accommodating to the times I was available. They were excellent working in the house. When I had ideas they would listen. They made sure the tub was fully functional for when my family came to visit. When they would leave in the evening they would clean up very well after themselves.

It wasn't so great. They had to come back several times. Every time that I called them back to take a look at their work, they didn't actually fix anything. They said they were going to come back later and refinish the whole tub. Then, when that time came around, they just stopped picking up my phone calls. Immediately after they did the job, there was flaking of the paint on the tub. Also, they painted my bathroom door and the floor. I called them maybe like three times. Twice, they came out. Then finally they said, "Let's just schedule when we're not so busy. In the next couple of months, we'll come out and we'll clean everything up and we'll redo the tub." After he left, he stopped picking up my phone calls.

Our bathroom was ugly 'smoker's teeth' yellow with black trim, now everything is a dazzling white and matches the tub. I don't know how they got the tub looking so nice. It looks like a brand new bathroom for 1/2 what it would have cost to do a complete renovation; it also (if you add actual dates worked on site) took less time than a complete reno. <br /> Overall a very good experience. We did have some minor (reasonable) small snafus. We had scheduling issues and had to reschedule the work a few times, and they had to reschedule 1-2 days accordingly. The threshhold was also set a little high and there were some minor tile touch ups that needed to be done which were a pain to get scheduled. Also had a small mix up where I didn't get the bill at first due to some questions and their online bill system. It's a family owned business and the owner was very courteous about working with us and resolving the paperwork snafu. <br /> Everyone was extremely courteous and clean. We're thinking of doing this in our other bathroom. <br /> Only other comments is the process does have a faint 'nail polish' smell, so had to open all the windows. It didn't bother my asthma, but I didn't like the smell and got a mild headache one time. And we nearly had a disaster when the cat got near the drying glaze. <br />

,Was some confusion about whether a Virginia-based franchise of this firm should do this work or whether my Virginia zip code falls into the service catchment of the Kensington, MD franchise, which apparently it does.  Was also some confusion about time of appointments.  Franchisee's published telephone was not always staffed. <br /> That said, the quality of work couldn't have been better.  The seams at the drain between paint and chrome are still holding up.  The serviceman did neglect to warn me that since a new chrome drain sleeve would be fitted inside the old drain, the drain entry diameter would be smaller and any hair/lint traps might not fit.  I had to buy a new loose-fitting trap for the tub. <br /> This was the second time I have tried to have this work done.  The first time was a handyman I use who apparently bought a kit from Home Depot.  He charged me several hundred dollars more than Miracle Method, and the job lasted several months and started to peel. <br />

They came out and looked at the tub I wanted refinished and told me it would be an additional $200 for the work. I felt the deal was a gimmick to get the company out to my home and add extra costs for more work done and I didn't really like that, but they worked it out with me anyway and did excellent work.

I am so pleased with how this turned out. I had an estimate months before and it took a little while for the job to get rolling due to coordination issues with other subcontractors. I live in a co-op building in DC with lots of rules about redoing a bathroom, so I decided to use Miracle Method to refinish the walls and floor tile which would have cost several thousands more to remove. The technician was friendly and prompt, The only hiccup during work was that we had parking issues due to the city deciding to block off two streets around my building with zero notice. But we were able to get those resolved. The timeline changed a little bit prior to the job, and we had made hotel reservations (its our only bathroom and we would have no toilet), so communication could have been better on that front as we had to change our plans on short notice. But they were very easy to work with. The results were stunning-- my bathroom looks brand new. I am going to be hiring them again for the tile in my kitchen. I have also recommended them to several co workers who are doing remodels. <br />

It went well. We weren't at our home at the time, so the workers used a lockbox we'd left at the front door. No complaints. Very happy with the service. <br />

Mary Ann's team was professional, punctual and proficient.  Unlike many of our other contractors working on site, they were very careful with ventilation and dropcloths, and the work was handled diligently.  Her team was courteous careful, and the work quality was excellent.  The reglazing of the tub looks like brand new and our tile grout was sanded and redone with care.  Moreover, the fellows went the extra mile to clean up the floors some, which we really appreciated.  She was very communicative about the process and our options including some helpful advice about the scope of the work she would advise.  We'd certainly recommend them to another party in need of similar work.  It was a breeze working with Miracle Method and we're so happy with the results. <br />

Bought the AL deal, and had to reschedule several times due to personal/professional conflicts.  They were always accommodating.  Tech showed up early, and started work right away.  He was very knowledgable, and meticulous about the job, including keeping my house relatively clean.  It was a messy job, as he had to grind some of the old tile out of the grout lines before regrouting.  He set up a rudimentary system to suck most of the dust out of a nearby window.  It kept the rest of the house dust free and clean.  The tub looks amazing!!! Regrouted, sealed and caulked.  It looks like a brand new bathroom.  The floor was cleaned and sealed as well, and looks incredible.   The tech cleaned up after the job, and it was like he was never even here.  I would highly recommend this company to anyone doing any tile or grout work in a tub or bathroom.  Nice work Miracle Method! <br />

At first this was a positive experience. The company was responsive via email to my request for an estimate, and promptly scheduled an appointment for an estimate. At the estimate it was determined the work to be done would be: remove old tub resurfacing, resurface the tub anew, and repair grout on the lower rows of tile. When I called to schedule the work at 8:30am on a Friday I scheduled off from work a month in advance, I was told to call the day before the job to confirm the time to ensure the technician would be there. The day before the work, I called midday and was told the technician would be there at the originally scheduled time. At approximately 5:00pm later that day, I was called to be told that the technician actually would not be at my house until 10:30-11:00 am, but I was assured the work could be completed that day. The day of the scheduled work, 10:30 am passes, 11:00 am passes. At 11:25 am the technician calls me from downstairs in my condo to tell me he has arrived. I go to meet him and get him signed in. He informs me at that time that he needs to use the loading dock for his compressor. I was not informed of this in advance, and the loading dock for my condo requires advance reservations. (Given that the estimator came to my condo and I specifically asked what I needed to do to prepare for the work and was not told that the equipment would need to be brought in on a loading dock, I was not happy.) After some cajoling with my building management I was able to get him in at the loading dock in a very specific way so that the scheduled trash truck could do its business. Then the technician wants to see the job. He takes one look at my tile and grout and says that he can do the work, but 1) the grout that was on the work order as provided by the estimator is not the color of my current grout and will look odd with a couple of rows being done only, and 2) there is extensive grout damage, indeed the wrong kind of grout was used for a shower in the first place, and all of it needs to be replaced. He offered to do the work anyway, but I agreed with his assessment and declined. The technician said that he would talk with the office and get me scheduled for full regrouting one day, and tub resurfacing another. I told him that would be difficult as it had taken me a month to schedule a day off of work for this job. He assured me he thought someone could come out on Saturday and grout and he would come on Sunday for the tub. I confirmed with him that I did not need to call the office and he would have them call me after he discussed his concerns with them. I waited to hear all Friday afternoon. Nothing. So, no work on the weekend. Because I do not think I should have to pursue a company that was unable to perform the work I need, and at a higher cost no less, I gave the company all day Monday to contact me to reschedule. Nothing. So today I am writing this review. It is my first bad experience with a highly rated Angie's List company. <br />

There's a reason this place has so many A Ratings. Mary Ann was very pleasant, and when my contractors schedule had to change, Mary Ann was able to send someone out within two days. The tech, Hugo, did a fantastic job taking a 1944 era tub and bringing it back to life. I was worried I'd have to buy a new one but the refinishing was wonderful. He even re-caulked all around the edges. Hugo was professional, timely, and friendly, if you've got one of these old tubs, this refinishing works. <br />

Initially, I was told that it was going to take them 2 days to complete the job, but it took them 4 days.  The gentleman that was doing the job wanted to come to my house for a 5th day and I told him that they needed to finish it on the 4th day.  The reason why I asked him to finish it is because I made arrangements to stay at home for 2 days and instead I had to take 2 additional days from work because they could not finish the job on time.  Another thing that I did not like is that the gentleman showed up at my house with two young boys.  They were supposed to help him, I guess, but sometimes when I went to check on the job, the gentleman was working in the bathroom while the two teenagers were seating on my bed and the couch I had next to my bed.   They scratched up the footboard of my bed and when I showed it to the gentleman he said "awww too bad."  I mean seriously... <br />

They were running behind on another job so they started our job 1 day late. The disturbing part was that I got the original phone msg that they would be there as scheduled but I didn't get the next one telling me that they would be one day later...nevertheless, they arrived bright and early the second day, the workers were very professional, and they handled my house very well as far as putting down plastic where they walked. The job turned out very nice. They completed the work today and we can't run any water in the tub or sinks yet, but barring anything unforeseen, I am extremely satisfied with the outcome. It really is pretty! I think it will be much easier to keep the tub clean now that it's resurfaced. The cost was much much better than getting the fitter over the old tub also! Very nice job! <br />
