We entered an agreement with Jeremy Gilchrist on March 4th 2016. He agreed to remodel both houses on the property On Sept 7th 2016 he abandoned the project with less than 60 % of the work completed. After Mr. Gilchrist pulled all workers from the project on and quit via email, we found many egregious errors on his company's part. There is no record of a permit for water/plumbing through the Sewerage and Water Board which is necessary in the Parrish of New Orleans. All plumbing was done incorrectly and not to code, and must be removed and redone. This means a proper open wall inspection (requiring us to open the walls he closed up) is necessary costing us over 7000 dollars of his work to be redone. We were charged for a water permit invoice and this was never obtained according to the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans. There are violations in the electrical, which must be redone to bring the property up to code. In addition to the permit violations, working without a permit, using unskilled labor, poor craftsmanship, completing about 40% of the project, he purchased items with our funds and then never dropped off the items after abandoning the project. These items include all assets that were in the original agreement and have been included on numerous invoices. In Summation: Plumbing – worked without a plumbing permit, charged us for a plumbing permit, all work had to be reworked because it was not to code costing us an additional $7500. Electric: Multiple electrical violations with the city held up project. Upon further inspections, electrical work was done incorrectly and has cost us over $3000 to correct. Abandoned job leaving more than 60% of work unfinished that was already paid for. These items and more were listed on invoices and our original work list attached to the contract. HDLC window in back house left incomplete Rotten wood not replaced, siding and appropriate sealant not finished Untreated lumber used on parts of exterior of both houses left exposed Insulation not installed in both houses New windows incorrectly installed/broken All molding not installed Six HDLC windows not installed in Front House, in addition that one of the windows was ordered that was the incorrect size Did not complete foundation work on front house leaving a back room disconnected from sills Did not install flooring or drywall in front house Did not repair porch flooring in both houses Did not install ridge venting in front house roof Did not install gutters on either house Front doors not installed in front house Brick fireplaces not repaired and filled in No exterior or interior painting done The termite contract was not completed Claimed to have purchased the materials required to finish the job (building materials as well as electric stove, toilet, and Ductless AC units) and refused to deliver these items when requested after quitting the job.

I was experiencing a roof leak and through angie's list found Mr. Jeremy Gilchrist of Gilchrist Investments LLC.  Mr. Jeremy Gilchrist came to my home and began inspecting the attic and roof area.  He first quoted a price of $600.00 and began describing both the interior and exterior work he would do to stop the leak.  As we proceeded outside, the price jumped from 600.00 to 1000.00.  A jump I could not understand.  He also told me to purchase the shingles for the roof ($60.00 at Lowe's).  He left with the promise that he would e-mail me the contract or that he would deliver a hard copy to my home at the time of the repairs.  I never received the e-mailed contract.  When he returned to do the work, he presented me with a hand written contract, on a piece of notebook paper.  He said the reason for this was because he was having some sort of "spirit issue" in his home and was not able to go there to print up a proper contract.  Never one to second guess the spirit world, I gave him a pass on that issue  and accepted the hand written document.  When he returned, he and a fellow employee changed out some shingles on the exterior, no promised interior work was done.   Shortly after, it rained, and the roof began leaking in the exact location as prior.  It had not been properly fixed.  I called Jeremy to see about a return visit.   About a week later, Jeremy shows up and begins giving excuses about the repair, stating that "my repair couldn't possible still be leaking, it's not leaking from where I fixed it".  But it was.  I had pictures and video of the leak.  His co-worker went into the attic and proceeded to fall through my bedroom ceiling.  After this disaster Jeremy said that is would be an extra $1200.00 to repair the hole his worker made.  The co-worker climbed a ladder I provided and began applying black roofing tar to the interior beems exposed by the 6ft.x4ft. hole.  Black tar was dripping everywhere, ruining my bed linens and wood flooring! Then he left!  Left me to clean up tar, wet insulation, and broken wet sheetrock.  I was later able to get Jeremy to give me $160.00 back to purchase replacement sheetrock and supplies.  Jeremy Gilchrist did not do the work he contracted for although he was fully paid.  He had two chances to fix my roof.  His workmanship says that he is not a professional roofer, and has no idea what he is doing.  I couldn't afford any more chances for Jeremy.   He damaged my home more than he fixed it!
