On April 20th, 2022, Modern Flooring Solutions performed work in my kitchen. On April 23, 2022, the service was complete, however the incorrect stain color was put onto the floor. While the stain was being applied, I commented that I thought Ebony stain would be darker. The contractor stated that the stain was not Ebony but another color. I thought the contractor was joking and even made a comment to that affect. The contractor did not comment further, simply looked at me and continued applying the stain. I also have a text message letting the contractor know which stain color I wanted for the floor. The actual work on the floor looks very nice, it’s just not the correct stain color. 3 weeks after the kitchen flooring was completed, the contractor gave me the left-over stain as I paid for all materials. I simply put this can with other left over flooring materials. I did not check the can for the proper stain color as I did not think I needed to. Once I began to install the new cabinets and hardware, (the kitchen had been completely gutted) I really started to realize and confirm that the stain color was not what I had selected and had a very strong gut feeling about it. I decided to check the can of left-over stain and indeed, it was not Ebony. Unfortunately, I did not think to check this until 3 weeks after the contractor gave me the stain, which was a total of 6 weeks after the job was completed. Once I discovered this issue, I contacted the contractor via text message. I waited a full 24 hours, asking how we can rectify the issue, and received no response. I then sent another text message asking for my monies to be returned, only to have the contractor call and berate me, saying that is the color I chose, and customers change their minds all the time. After only a few minutes, the contractor no longer wanted to talk and said he was going to have his wife (Jada Clark) call me. Jada did call and informed me that she spoke with her representative (Emily Hunter) from Angi Ads. Emily stated that since so much time had passed, 6 weeks, that they were not obligated to return any monies nor correct the issue. Jada offered to redo the floor when it fit into their schedule. I asked if my issue would take precedence since it was a mistake and was told no, they could not put my job ahead of the ones they currently had scheduled. I had asked a couple of other questions that Jada could not answer and needed to check with her husband, Michael. Before hanging up, Jada said she would speak with Michael and call me either that night or the next morning. I still have not received that phone call. Since I did not receive a phone call, I contacted my bank to dispute the charge. The dispute was valid, however because I paid via Zelle, my bank had to ask for the monies to be returned, as Zelle is not intended to pay for goods and services. Modern Flooring Solutions said they would not return any monies so there was nothing more the bank could do. I wanted to pay with my credit/debit card, however I was not able to do that as the company was not able to accept my credit/debit card. Due to this, I used Zelle for $1,000 and Venmo for the remaining balance. This is the first time I had ever used Zelle so I was not aware that this was not supposed to be used for goods and services. After receiving this information from my bank, I contacted the Ohio Attorney General’s Office with my complaint. They contacted the company and Jada responded. In her response, Jada stated that Emily Hunter said I had never contacted Angi Ads with my complaint. I have emails that I sent to Angi regarding my complaint, so I do not agree with this statement. The company again said that they would not return any monies but would redo the flooring. Sadly, at this point, I am not comfortable having the company in my home and would prefer to have another company redo the flooring. During the 6 weeks between the completion of the kitchen flooring and the discovery of the incorrect stain color, I had Modern Flooring Solutions complete 3 additional projects. One flooring project went well, the next flooring project had to be redone as the contractor spilled a non-removeable stain in the center of the vinyl flooring, and the third project had miscellaneous items that I ended up having to complete and items I had to fix. The final project took several days longer than expected and no quote was given. There were days that the contractor no-called/no-showed and showed up late on other days. The final day of the last project was a Saturday. The contractor had driven his motorcycle and it was getting ready to rain. To avoid the rain, he left, leaving me and his wife to figure out what should be paid. The two of us had to Google different items to determine a total price. I was also told to pay via Venmo to his wife, Jada Clark.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. We hired this flooring company to do laminate floors in our entire house the last week of July it is currently September 17th and they have yet to finish our floors. Not to mention the put a whole in the dry wall and fixed it poorly not and not at all like they found it. There are gaps in the floor all over. They kept saying they was gonna come back and fix it multiple times and they have yet to show up when they said they were going too. They showed up late in the day and was at the house very late every time they were here. Save your time and money.

Like a dream. Michael Smith showed up on time and had all of the materials and equipment needed to replace several engineered wood boards. He finished the job in the allotted time and to my complete satisfaction. And then he cleaned up everything so it was impossible to tell that any work had been done. I feel he was committed to performing the work to the highest standard; he exceeded my expectations. And he was pleasant to work with. I would enthusiastically recommend him to anyone considering flooring installation.

Excellent. Provided estimate, had an opening in the schedule for the following week. Arrived on time, completed the job in the time period stated, cleaned everything before leaving. I am so impressed. I will certainly use this company again for other projects.

The best contractor I ever hired. The intention to detail was incredible. The work is phenomenal. They are punctual and work the whole time. The pricing is very reasonable.
