Electrical for Home Addition or Remodel - Install
UNPROFESSIONAL. The owner, Alex, caused numerous delays on our project, totaling 12 business days. On top of that, he increased the written estimate on a line item. I asked for an explanation and he talked in circles and sounded like a used car salesman. That was the tipping point, and he overheard me call him an ahole. Like a child, he instructed his worker to tell me they were walking off the job. Now, our kitchen cabinet installation won't happen in time. Don't hire this company. This owner is immature and not customer-centric.
Response from Motherroad Plumbing Heating & Cooling
"This response is for future readers ? not for William. We were hired to provide plumbing, gas, and electrical work as part of a kitchen remodel during an active home renovation. Multiple written estimates were provided, clearly outlining scope, options, and pricing. Early on, it became clear that no amount of explanation would satisfy this client. Despite detailed estimates and visual documentation, William repeatedly conflated two clearly separate gas-line options in an attempt to renegotiate pricing mid-project. To be clear: ? Option A: A dedicated gas line (best practice) ? Option B: Tying into the existing gas system The dedicated line cost slightly more for the line itself, but avoided roughly $4,000 in required code upgrades to his existing equipment ? a net savings of about $3,800. Despite this, William continued to argue over ~$200 and accused us of dishonesty. Matters escalated further when we uncovered standing water beneath the kitchen slab, clearly indicating a leak. Standing next to visible pooling water, William insisted there was no leak ? citing a phone call with his girlfriend as confirmation. At that point, we recommended standardized leak testing, which he initially refused. After repeated verbal abuse toward both myself and my crew, and continued attempts to pressure us into changing agreed-upon pricing, I made the decision to remove my team from the job site. I will not allow my employees to be sworn at or bullied. For the record: ? Significant labor was already completed (concrete cutting and trenching) ? Nearly $2,000 in labor remains unpaid ? We have since been threatened with legal action for refusing to continue under abusive conditions We stand by our work, our pricing, and our professionalism. We also stand by our right to walk away from projects where communication breaks down and respect disappears. William has been placed on our do-not-service list, and we are comfortable with that decision. If you are a reasonable homeowner who values transparency, documentation, and code-compliant work ? we?re probably a great fit. If not, we wish you the best elsewhere."

I had some electrical problems and Jenna came out and gave me exactly what I wanted! She explained to me what she could do to solve my problem and she was going to put in some electrical boxes by my Internet router and I got exactly what I wanted. I’m extremely happy. She’s very knowledgeable, courteous, and a very nice person.

The crew did the job, digging up and replacing 40 ft of main water line from the city line to the house, including installation of a pressure reducing valve. Overall COST was pretty expensive for labor considering the PEX tubing for the water line was the pretty much the only parts needed minus the pressure valve. I realize they go by a book that determines cost before work is actually done, though and I agreed to it. Kinda hard to get other estimates when you are in a pickle and need water in your home going asap during the holidays. Job got done and the 2 workers were nice guys. One complaint is I asked if there was a Veteran's Discount and they did include it but it was LESS THAN a 3% discount off the subtotal. Taking a star off for this and another for high labor cost.
