We hired Mottern to replace a retaining wall around a basement door. The first instance was not what we wanted nor what we agreed to. When I explained this to Jeff, he corrected quickly and without any pushback. I appreciated his professionalism and honesty and would happily work with him again.

I first hired Mottern Masonry 15 years ago to install a stone walkway and stacked stone walls. They did a terrific job and 15 years later the stacked stone walls are in perfect condition. In 2026 I had them come back to touch up the walkway (its on a slope and some stones had shifted a bit) and to replace the concrete stairs to the front door. Once again, terrific work and they always go above and beyond. Mottern's quality is top-notch and I highly recommend them to others.

The end result was a beautiful flagstone entrance, and this was a major upgrade from our previous, aged concrete entrance. The crew is reliable, respectful and very good at their job.

I highly recommend Mottern Masonry. They did a fantastic job replacing our deteriorating concrete stoop and installing a flagstone walkway. From their initial quick response and quote to the professionalism and artistic quality of the masonry work, Jeff and his team did great work. They showed up on time and worked around the weather. The crew were friendly, courteous and are experts at what they do. They are not the cheapest you can find, but if you want the highest quality work, they are among the best in the area.

In 2021, Mottern Masonry installed a 20 x 20 ft stamped concrete patio in my backyard. Half of the patio is under a screen porch. Half is exposed to the elements. This patio was installed in the Spring of 2021. In 2022 the patio showed damage. Pitting. Flaking. Mottern sent a crew to rectify it. Two years later it has failed again. It is only the portion that is exposed to the elements. Mottern will not fix it. They say it is not within their 1 year warranty. So if you before you spend five or ten thousand dollars on a patio, consider this as a possible outcome.

I worked with Mottern Masonry to have my two flagstone walkways repaired. The mortar joints were cracked and worn, and several stones were loose. Jeff responded and came onsite to review the work quickly. His team did an excellent job, and the walkways are better than when they were 1st put in. The team also did additional work they found to address walkway foundation issues at no additional cost. Mottern Masonry does excellent work at a fair price, I look forward to giving them additional business in the future.

Mottern Masonry did a great job replacing our deteriorating pool surround. They took the time to go over all of our options and we decided that stamped concrete was the best for us. Their crew communicated kept the project moving despite the spring rain. It was a huge job. Their pricing was competitive, not the cheapest but you get what you pay for! Couldn’t be happier!

We contracted with Mottern about 10 years ago to have a retaining wall built to replace a poorly constructed wall holding up the driveway. The wall was block on footer and it has held beautifully. When we original had the wall built, we decided against covering it with decorative stone. Jeff told us at the time that they would come back and add it if we ever changed our mind. Here we are ten years later deciding to add the stone. We called Mottern because the wall they built has had no issues (previous iterations of the wall had plenty of issues). The stone covering job was done quickly and professionally and looks great. If you're looking for quality, Mottern is for you.

We felt the quote was high, but along with that number came the confidence that they would do it correctly, and they did. Spectacular work product. Incredible customer service and communication. Very reasonably priced. Meticulous work. Efficient and timely. Tremendous value for your investment. Mottern Masonry removed our gazebo and replaced it with a stamped concrete patio and stone fireplace. The patio is partially lined with 25 inch tall sitting wall. They also repaired our brick front walkway, some stone work on the façade of our home and some minor pavement cracks. The project went exactly how Jeff Mottern said it would go, and turned out better than we could have imagined. Jeff grew up in the masonry business and it shows. Jeff and his team are gifted professionals, kind and excellent communicators. Weather permitting, they worked non-stop from the moment they started until the project was completed. Right on time and right on budget. The stone work on the wall and the fireplace is stunning. And when all of the building was completed, they graded and seeded the area around the patio, covered it with straw, and cleaned up the work areas as if they hadn’t been there. This was as perfect a home improvement project experience as we could hope to have. And to top it off, Jeff has a wonderful network of experienced carpenters, electricians and other resources to tap into as your projects may require. We are using three of those additional resources so far. We cannot recommend Mottern Masonry more.

I recently had a stamped concrete driveway done by Mottern Masonry and it looks great. Jeff came by initially to assess the job and write a bid. He was very attentive to my requests then gave his own recommendations about options for doing the driveway/walkway etc that would make better use of the space I had while keeping costs reasonable. Other companies simply gave me a bid on what I asked and didn't offer advice on how to optimize the space, so I appreciated that Jeff presented different options I could consider - it's quite clear he's experienced in hardscapes and has been doing this for awhile! Jeff wrote a bid the same day and the team broke ground within a week, then had the driveway completely done and sealed within a week of the start date. The entire process went smoothly and the team at Mottern Masonry was timely and professional. I highly recommend Jeff and the team at Mottern Masonry!
