Very good service.

It went well. We originally purchased a special deal and there was some confusion about that, but we cleared it up and he did a nice job installing a new rear door.

We did a major renovation on our house we purchased in Boulder and our windows and doors (24 in total) were a critical decision for us. We did pain staking research on the windows and installers because of the significant cost and performance impact of this decision. We chose a local window company (high performance, triple pane) and Mountain View Installation (MVI) for the install because they were recommended by the window manufacture. In addition to the window manufacturer recommendation we researched MVI on line and saw the positive rating on Angieand acirc;??s list and met with Bruce several times. To sum the experience up, the installation from MVI has been a complete nightmare. The windows were installed in June 2013 and we were not happy with the way things went in June:1) Bruce was barely on site when he touted his attention to detail and meticulous installations.2) Multiple windows were installed in the wrong openings even though there was a schedule onsite detailing what windows went where (we had to catch these mistakes and windows had to be pulled and reinstalled).3) We could see daylight from the inside around new windows before drywall went in which indicated improper sealing. We had to point this out to his crew to fix it. 4) Windows were not insulated properly and I had to go around to each window and insulate myself.5) We spent significant money on a special tape (inside and out) and numerous windows were taped improperly wasting expensive tape.6) Our custom sized sliding door was allowed to be blown over onto a cement patio because it was not secured outside over the weekend. The slider had to be rebuilt by the manufacturer and caused delays in multiple contractor schedules (drywall, paint and general delay of our timeline).In the September 2013 floods we had two windows that leaked and we thought they were window glass issues which the window manufacturer resealed. With the 2014 spring rains, the same windows were leaking again which made us sure it was an installation issue. After repeated contacts to Bruce and urging by the window manufacture, Bruce had one of his guys come out to fix the window. The issue as outlined in an email by Bruce confirmed the leak was an installation issue. Due to the nature of the leak, I felt more windows need to be inspected for the same improper sealing but Bruce responded that with all the rain in September of 2013 that we should be fine. The very next week we had a driving rain storm and water rushing into our entry way below one of the windows installed by MVI. This caused $2,500 of damage to our entry and a number of other issues including mold. Throughout what was a very stressful and massively inconveniencing time, Bruceand acirc;??s communication was awful. He was not returning phone calls, emails or texts. After finally getting him to agree to inspect all windows and doors, the day he was supposed to start this process, he no showed. We had to hire a different contractor (which I was glad that we were no longer relying on MVI) to go through all windows and doors to inspect the installation and fix issues. Once we started inspecting all windows and doors we were shocked at how bad the installation really was (it was days later that we heard from Bruce via email, only after he heard through our sales guy, about all the problems we were uncovering and his no show when he was supposed to inspect all windows and doors). Just some of the issues we found when we removed the trim on the windows:1) Nearly all windows and doors had air and water leak paths where it was just a matter of time before our house was damaged (not to mention the lost performance that we will never recover and never fully capture).2) Two windows had to be completely pulled, reframed and reinstalled because they were installed crooked.3) Many windows were not insulated properly or sealed with the special taping process.4) Multiple windows were not caulked at all and some had no screws in the nail fins that properly secure windows to the house.There were too numerous of issues to list and the scary part is that the installation looked fine from inside and out (just something to think about for those who think their job has been done well). This was one of the most blatant examples of poor workmanship I believe you can get. The only positive thing I can say about the experience is that all expenses for remedying the situation were covered by his insurance. There is so much more that happened and that I could write, however, I just want people to know:1) How poor of a job MVI did on our house. 2) How unresponsive and poor the communication was throughout the process but especially when we had problems that needed to be addressed. 3) How Bruce/MVI did not stand behind their work and warranty.Bottom line, MVI is a company that I donand acirc;??t think anyone shouldtrust their home to.

Bruce provided and narrowed down options to work for us and went into great detail on his installation process. It was a very good experience as I am quite picky about contractors who work on my house. Once we got the windows picked out and ordered he kept in good contact with us when there was a slight (few day) delay from the manufacturer. The installation went very well and we are extremely happy with the windows. This install took place a year ago and we are having him come back to do a couple more windows and two doors.

This is the third job we've had Bruce and his team complete for us, and once again they did an outstanding job. At this point we don't even look for other bids because we know the price will be right, the installation will be top notch, and the installers will display the utmost professionalism.Once again, all of the above was true. Bruce's team was fast, professional, and perfectly courteous. They were careful to explain options to me as they went along, and they made sure that I understood everything they were doing. They were super careful in draping the carpet and furniture, and everything was cleaned up perfectly when they left. I should also mention the estimate process. Bruce was really clear about the estimated time-frame and all costs we would encounter. Even though the weather was bad and the install took longer than expected he stood by his original bid as he has every time. That's the kind of old-fashioned integrity that you hope for when looking for a contractor! Bruce has lots of great ideas and the new window configuration he suggested is so beautiful that I can hardly bear to put drapes up.We just can't say enough about Mountain View Installations - Bruce and his team are top notch professionals and are a delight to work with every time. On top of that, I always know that if anything isn't 100% to my satisfaction Bruce will see that it gets fixed. Just hire this company.

Two years ago I bought a new patio door and a couple of windows from Mountain View Installations, and the experience was a very good one. The product has been wonderful (Sunrise brand), both beautiful and performs great with the e-glass. This year I decided to have the entire rest of the house done with Sunrise windows. The product is still great, the install and follow-up (especially) was disappointing. <br /> When installation began, I noticed that the wrong screens had been ordered for the double-hung windows (which open from both the bottom and the top). With the order two years ago, I bought full screens, this time half screens were delivered. I was told I could slide the screens up & down depending on which way I open the windows. Not acceptable (the screens fall down). I called Bruce, the owner, right away and he admitted he mistakenly ordered the wrong screens. He told me he would order the right ones that very day. Since then I have emailed, left voice messages and call back numbers but I have had NO response from owner Bruce or installer Jake. I know this company has a lot of business and was patient throughout the rest of the summer and early fall. I've tried to work through the Sunrise company; they directed me to the local distributor. Again I tried to contact Bruce. I DO NOT WANT to have to buy the screens for an additional cost as they should have come with the windows.  <br /> The installer was nice enough and did a decent job except for one place. The window over the front door was the last one installed and the trim around it was not replaced with new material. [I made the mistake of mentioning that I plan to get the house painted.] The old trim with gouges & exposed nail holes was put back on the house with the explanation that the painters would fill the holes and make it all look right. I've had 3 estimates from house painters and they all said the existing trim is too damaged to repair & paint and will charge me for replacement. As noted above, I have tried to contact both Bruce & Jake on this without ever receiving a response. <br /> Because I had an excellent experience with Mountain View Installations a couple of years ago, I trusted that 1) I would receive the correct screens for my windows, and 2) they would come back and put replacement trim on the window around my front door. My mistake: I paid them in full the last day they were here and now I have no leverage with them. Because they will not respond to me, I have no idea of their intentions, but it seems I've been written off. Writing this honest review is probably the last chance I have of attracting their attention. I will write a follow up to this IF these issues are resolved. <br />

The work was generally competent, with exceptions mentioned below that remain unremedied. However, dealing with this company has been a very frustrating experience.We signed two successive contracts. The first contract was for some windows and for sliding glass and screen doors for a downstairs porch. The work was okay except that no latch was ever fitted for the receiver of the sliding screen door so it doesn't lock. The second contract was for screen and glass doors for an upstairs balcony. The sliding screen door apparently was installed defectively.But the biggest problem is that the waits for getting anything done with this company are interminable---months in fact. My emails are filled with rigamarole in the general nature of and quot;I thought you were going to be here on Tuesdayand quot; and and quot;I'm still waiting for X.and quot; After the first experience, I thought seriously about changing providers for the second contract, but the press of my business prevented me from getting bids, doing interviews, etc.When we started to use the screen door in the spring (although contracted for in early fall, it had not been installed till the dead of winter) we noticed the installation defect. On May 4 I asked that they send someone out to take a look. Nearly three months later after numerous exchanges, it has become clear that the company is unwilling to even examine the problem, and that I'll have to hire someone else to try to rectify it.Save yourself from ulcers and hire a more prompt company.

We replaced 16 windows which were original in our sixty-year-old house. They were of various sizes, some on the main floor and some in the basement. The installation was complicated by the fact that our interior walls are plaster, not dry wall. We hired Mountain View Installation largely on the basis of their understanding of the problem and that they agreed to do it without destroying the plaster. Owner and salesman Bruce met with us several times, explained what is available, the process required, and showed us actual samples of the windows. He brought foreman Jake to the house to be sure they both understood the problems and to check to see how it would work. The windows were ordered and we waited two or three weeks for them to arrive. On the appointed day, Jake and Nick arrived and started to work. Although the weather was warm, it was very windy, which was not too good to have whole windows out. However, it wasnand acirc;??t a big problem, and they did them one or two at a time to minimize the effects. The next day Chuck joined the crew. They were all pleasant and considerate and worked briskly to move the job along. They were here most of four days. Jake was especially dedicated to doing the job right, cleaning up afterwards, answering our questions and doing whatever needed doing. When I called a few days after everything was done with a couple of small concerns, he came by the same day and took care of them. He was outstanding to work with. The windows look and work great and we are very satisfied with the job.

I got quotes from several different contractors but ultimately chose to sign a contract for my replacement windows with Mountain View Installations. Bruce was very knowledgeable and he was the only contractor that satisfied my expectations that the windows be installed correctly according to industry standards. Bruce's company goes beyond. Most replacement window contractors seem to be and quot;lick and stickersand quot; that end up with leaking windows.I signed the contract and had an appointment to install in about a month after the windows were delivered to Mountain View from the manufacturer (Milgard). The crew that installed the windows were on time, were very professional and courteous, kept the place clean, and did a great job. Jake was also a great help in getting me some documents to help with the window inspection from Douglas County. The County requires the window U-value sticker to remain on the window through inspection, but one window came from manufacturing without the sticker. Jake got me the documents I needed to give to the inspector, and it passed fine. Big help.I definitely recommend them.

Our house is less then 4 years old and a custom built home.  Since we weren't the builder we knew there would be issues. When a few of the custom windows started to fail we did a lot of looking.  Bruce talked us thru every step.  He never oversold or under sold.  That was was just the beginning.  Bruce and his workers are the nicest and most professional people I have ever worked with.  They made sure to keep the work space clean, while they worked, and before the left at night.  Their work was unbelievable.  They made sure it was perfect to me!!! Although I think their standards were higher than mine.  I  may have to use them again, because I still have a few windows that are a concern.  But I will not hesitate to call Mountain View <br />

It went well. Bruce have us realistic timelines, and the crew was professional during installation. We're happy with the outcome. <br />

We chose Mountain View Installations because of its excellent Angie's List review and a glowing recommendation from my cousin (also on Angie?s List). He had actually recommended Mountain View to a co-worker and she also had an excellent experience. Our experience started off very well, Bruce was really personable and responsive initially. We went with Sunrise windows (which are great by the way). While in the ordering process we had to correct a window type and we just estimated what those upgrades would cost so I could get in on a promotional deal where you got every 8th window free (which I never got by the way). Throughout the summer there were multiple times where Bruce?s and our schedule didn't match up, as I work in fire and am gone quite often for weeks at a time, and Bruce was in the middle of a his busiest time of year. We finally set up a time to drop off the windows as I was installing them, at the last minute I had to leave for a fire so my dad wasthere to accept the windows. It turned out that 3 of the upstairs windows were the incorrect size, off by over 2 ft. (which I didn't pick up on the estimate because the sizes weren't listed), and 3 more of the front windows were the wrong style, and didn?t meet required egress code, something I had called Bruce?s attention to in the estimate and actually paid additionally for. Well it took 3 weeks to reach Bruce after he left the windows. I eventually had to contact the distributer for the region and then they contacted Bruce and he finally called back. During this period I also emailed him multiple times with no response. The main reason I contacted the distributer was that I was going to work directly with them because I was sure that he wouldn't be calling me back. After he contacted me it took an additional 3 weeks to get the windows, which thankfully were correct but arrived without nail fins (a necessity for installation). Bruce did apologize for the confusion and explained that he would have come out for a second measure but was too <br /> busy. We were then going to sort out the extra money I had paid for the 3 oversized windows, (which I estimate around 700-1000 dollars but can't confirm since Bruce refuses to recalculate) I was able to reach Bruce only via email in January, he expressed some anger that I wanted my money back for the over charge, in light of the Angies List review, and offered to give me my money, however it is now nearly may and I have yet to recieve anything so I doubt it will be forth coming.  All in all this has been a really stressful and upsetting experience, especially considering Bruce came with such great recommendations from a family member. I am not sure of the reasons for this experience but I feel let down and put off. The only upside is that the windows are great, otherwise this was a terrible experience and I would not recommend Mountain View Installations in the future, unless you are very cautious about deposits and possible overpayment. Pehaps my experience is an anomly but I thought I would put it out there so people know that there are experiences other than A+ with this service provider.  <br /> **If I recieve a refund for overpayment I will be sure to post an update. <br />

Overall it went very well. I learned that <br /> not all window installers are not the same. Some companies don't remove the <br /> outside window trim, the replacement windows are attached via screws thru the <br /> window jams and not like the original with nailing flanges. The poorer <br /> replacement process may result in leaks around the windows. The replacement of <br /> the window trim will result in re-painting of the trim if the trim is other <br /> than white. Also if the house has an alarm system, most companies (including <br /> MountainView) will not re-install the alarm sensors on the replaced windows. <br /> The old windows were original to the house, I requested (and received) vinyl <br /> windows of higher quality. (Multiple grades of windows were offered). The <br /> installer took their time to do a quality job (over and above what I would <br /> expect from the majority of other installation companies. <br /> <br /> <br />

I contacted Mountain View about window quotes for our 1980's house. Bruce showed up on time for the initial estimate. He walked through the house with us and answered all our questions. He took the time to explain his installation process thoroughly. Out of the three estimates we got, his estimate came in as the most affordable and we just flat "liked" Bruce. He seemed like a good guy. <br /> Bruce kept us updated when the windows were ordered and when we could expect the installation to start. In fact, they were able to start one day early. The guys that did the installation were just as friendly and courteous as Bruce. They were kind enough to start in the room we requested. Any adjustments we requested were made with no problems. <br /> Bruce was on site about once a day for the four day installation to make sure everything was going as we wished. <br /> Overall, the guys installed 10 windows and trimmed out a total of 12 windows and doors. (We'd had a few windows and a door installed by someone else. They hadn't been trimmed out with the new composite product that Bruce was installing on our new windows. We wanted it all to match so we had them do everything while they were here.) <br /> Our house is warmer, the new windows are beautiful and the crisp white exterior trim looks great. I'd highly recommend Mountain View for price, quality installation, product availability and friendliness. <br />

I hired Bruce in late June to replace two doors and two windows.  The work was performed in October and took about four days.  I'm happy with the end product, although I had originally wanted it to be done sooner.  Bruce knows his business very well, and has good ideas and good quality results.

<strong>Consultation</strong> <br /> Bruce came to our house to hear about the project and to provide a quote with initial measurements. As mentioned in other reviews, Bruce has excellent design suggestions. Without any pressure, he mentioned that two of the bedroom windows were not sized properly for egress. We opted to expand the windows (downwards) to enlarge them for egress (and better views of our backyard!). In addition, he recommended an awning window for replacing the garden window over the kitchen sink. Bruce also has a nice presentation with photos showing the installation process and the materials used.  <br /> After reviewing one other bid (which was 30% less expensive for cheaper windows and definitely lower quality workmanship), the clear choice was Mountain View Installations. Bruce came out for a second measurement and to confirm the details of the project. We put down a deposit for the cost of materials; labor is only paid at the end of the project (and only after full satisfaction - see below).  <br /> <strong><br /> Installation</strong> <br /> Our schedules didn't overlap very well for several weeks. I was not picky about how quickly the installation occurred, so if your project has a timeframe, be sure to let Bruce know. Once we got an installation date selected, Bruce and the installers were on-time. Bruce worked with the installers (Gabe and Taylor) to set the project up. The installers were communicative about what part of the project would be achieved each day and showed up on-time. They were professional and courteous - obviously not the same installers mentioned in the negative reviews posted on this site. The installation occurred mid-December and the installers were very conscious of limiting the time that warm air could escape. The new windows look great and we couldn't be happier! <br /> <strong>Follow-up</strong> <br /> Two screens had minor, but irreparable damage. The installers originally offered to replace the screens "sometime soon" and I offered to withhold partial final payment. Bruce and I talked on the phone - he said to withhold the entire final payment and he would make sure new screens were installed by the end of the week. I love people who truly stand behind their work!  <br /> Bruce came out for the final check and noticed several items that we overlooked. He made sure the installers came back to correct the items. Essentially, Bruce was responsible for the details so we didn't have to be. :) <br /> We've already started to talk to Bruce about our next project - replacing and upgrading several closet doors. <br />

Installation took about six hours.  Crew worked hard and took care with the fitting and installation of the two window units. They put down protective material inside to protect the carpets and were careful not to damage anything. After installation they cleaned up thoroughly inside and outside.  They preserved and replaced the inside trim and replaced the outside trim with new cedar that matched the existing siding. Very satisfied with their work. <br />

I had windows installed almost exactly one year ago. Initially I was quite upset with the work so I didn't write a review immediately. <br />  The Bad: <br />  The problems we had were all with the subcontractors he used, one in particular, David L. He was very sloppy in his work, dripping foam insulation on our carpet, windows, screens, patio furniture, brick, washing machine, you name it. THIS STUFF IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO REMOVE! I really can't stress enough how important it is for your windows contractor to use the proper protection to keep this stuff off of the windows and surroundings. I had to use a credit card to delicately scrape it off. I spent hours removing it from our windows and still not finished. It's all over the exterior of my sliding door. They used caulk to fill nail holes, where they should have used wood putty, because you can't sand caulk, it just gums up. The windows where not as plum as they should have been, some off by 1/4" to 1/2".  They were also a bit stingy with the foam installation, just applying a minimal amount. The front door, which I took great pains in finishing and taking care not to damage/dent was scratched up during installation.  To make matters worse, they installed our new front door behind the drywall.  This was later corrected but the door was not installed with a gap so it rubs during the summer higher humidity months. It's also not flush with the drywall and looks odd. <br /> The Good: <br />  Bruce has really good design sense and recommended the best style windows for our situation.  I was also pleased with the trim style he came up with. He's very knowledgeable of windows, better than any other contractor we talked to.  Bruce took responsibility for the issues that came up during installation, but some damage already done could not be undone.  He improved the front door installation and some of the trim, which was not cut very accurately. Bruce even helped me out with demoing the wood panel in my rec room.  And he even hauled it away which was awesome. He was very punctual and completed the work within a week. <br /> The windows (Milgard Ultra Fiberglass) I chose have nothing to do with Mountain View, but I'd wanted to mention that they as good as I thought. The finish quality is just average. I would have gone with Marvin if I had a chance to do it again. I'm very pleased I went with casement windows instead of sliding for the majority of windows. They are a bit more expensive but seal much better, reduce outside noise, fully open and look better too. The milgard warranty is was ultimately led me to purchase. The milgard warranty folks are pretty good. The resolved some issues after installation. Our double hung windows were very drafty and they addressed the leakage. I won't be able to tell until winter how well they fixed them. <br />  To summarize, I think Bruce is a good guy and is trying to do the right thing but he needs to get good contractors or his reputation is going to suffer. I wouldn't use them again unless Bruce is personally doing the work. <br />

Bruce came out to look at our windows for our new nursery.  The windows were original with the house (1955) and, while not in terrible shape, needed to be updated for us to feel confident with our new baby in there.  Bruce came out and gave a detailed quote for the job.  He was clear on code updates and was able to really read the style and look we were going for.  He even suggested an awning window for one side which was a totally different and fresh suggestion that we hadn't heard from anyone else.  His installation presentation is what really blew us away and geared us towards Mountain View.  He had pictures and took us through step by step of the install process, which was much more thorough than anyone else we had met with.  Shortly after he left, we both knew he was the one to go with.  It was clear he had pride in his work and would do the job right.  And we were right!  It took about a month or so to get our windows in.  The install took about a day.  Bruce worked with a team of 3 and they were all polite and efficient.  After the initial install, there were a few finishing issues and Bruce was back within days to fix it so it looked just as we had pictured.  We love our new windows and really loved working with Bruce.  He knows his stuff and will shoot you strait and do what he says he will do in the time he says he will do it.  We will most definitely be working with Bruce again in the future.

I own rental properties and was looking to refurbish one with a basic quality replacement. The company delivered and installed the replacement windows/doors as specified in the quoted delivery time. There were no unexpected delays, problems or charges. There has been no reason for the company to return to make adjustments/repairs

We went to the CO Home show and Bruce was the first person we spoke with. He immediately realized what was a priority to both my husband and I which were two different things.Once the work started, my husband watched every step (he was probably in the way) and he was ever pleased with the workmanship. We are thrilled with our windows and door and even had people in our community ask for his information. Once we find a business that is good to work with and does a great job we refer like crazy. Bruce is no longer just a business to us but a friend....thanks Bruce for a job well done!

From the moment that I met Bruce, I knew he was the real deal. He is very low pressure and is the first to admit that he is not a salesman. He was the only installer (out of 4) that walked me completely through his installation process in detail. Also his installation process is the only way that a window should be installed in our climate. There is no reason for an installer to skip any of the steps that Bruce takes. As someone that is familiar with good building practices, I appreciated this approach. Bruce's passion for construction shows in the final product. He utilizes the best materials and practices. Why else would he offer a lifetime warranty on installation? <br /> <br /> As mentioned before, Bruce completely removed my old windows. He then used a soft flashing on the sill. This is a sticky rubber membrane that protects against water infiltration. He then backs this up with a top grade sealant and wicking. The sealant is a second line of defense against water and the wicking assures that any water has a way to get out. Once the window is secured, the opening between the window and the framing is sealed using minimal expanding foam. Bruce then trims out both the interior and exterior of the window.  <br /> <br /> My house is brick and I couldn't have asked for a better job on the exterior trim work. Bruce used additional trim and caulking from the window manufacturer and a high grade mortar caulking to finish off the new windows. He also took the time to hide the old caulk lines to ensure the new work looks as clean as possible.

We are doing a major home remodel, and we left the details to our contractor. Unfortunately, our contractor ordered the wrong windows for part of the project. We called Bruce because he had replaced some of our windows a few years ago, and he was able to get us the right windows for our remodeling project on very short notice. We highly recommend Bruce and his team for any window project because of his service, quality and price.

We've used Mountain View in the past and we'll use them again! We replaced old failing wooden windows with some new low maintenance vinyl windows and couldn't be more pleased with the results. Bruce and his team are very professional and they never use any high pressure sales tactics or gimmicks. He just explains options, comes up with a very thorough estimate, explains his process and installation, and leaves the customer free to choose. I felt that this really stood out among the other window companies I contacted. We have found their pricing to be very competitive, but frankly, when it comes to structural details of my home I'm more interested in quality products and workmanship than the absolute cheapest bid. <br /> <br /> We were impressed with the trim work Bruce's team did. Since the newer windows have a more streamlined profile than the old we had one spot in the kitchen where window and countertop couldn't match up. Bruce took the time to come up with an elegant solution that makes the whole trim look intentional and professional. He was also diligent about replacing some dry rotted exterior trim (he even painted it for us!) and finding solutions to protect and preserve some interior wood that had been damaged by the old leaking windows. His team also cleaned all the new windows which was a real plus in my book. <br /> <br /> One of the windows came from the manufacturer with a scratch which I noticed a week or so after installation. Bruce worked with the manufacturer on our behalf and a few days later the window was repaired with a new piece of glass and the project looks perfect. <br /> <br /> If you're looking for an honest sale, quality carpentry, and just a downright nice company to work with, go with Mountain View.
