We had an appointment with Mr. Appliance on 8/21/2020 to look at our ice maker – we could put in bagged ice and the dispenser would work, but it wasn’t making any of it’s own ice. An employee came to our house and pulled it apart and said that we need to replace the ice maker (something like the computer chip that gets the water from the fridge isn’t connecting). He said he could fix it that day and that the part would be $455. That seemed outrageously high, so I asked if there were any alternatives – he said there weren’t unless I wanted to try ebay and get a used part. I decided that it wasn’t worth that price at that time without doing any research, so I paid the $99 service fee and he left. The next day, I put in a bag of ice and it wouldn’t dispense at all. I know the repairman had taken a lot of things apart, so I called them back and got a hold of the office manager. I explained that the gentleman was just at my house and I’m guessing he didn’t put everything back together and that I would like for them to come back to the house and return the refrigerator to the previous operating level. The office manager said they could come out, and IF they assessed it was the repairman’s fault, then they would waive the fee – but if not, then they would charge me. I explained that I was 100% confident the dispenser was working because I had used it before the man came and she said that she wasn’t sure, so she couldn’t guarantee that I wouldn’t be charged. She put me on hold but came back and confirmed that I could be charged if they returned to my house. Next, I asked her if I could speak with someone else. She said she was the office manager and there was no one else. I asked if I could speak with the owner and she responded the owner was not there. So I asked her to take down my name/number and when the owner was available to have them call me because I didn’t think it was right to send someone out and charge me a second time. She later said that when she put me on hold, she was talking with the owner and they agreed that there was nothing more they would do for me. Few issues with this incident: 1) The price being charged of $455. We later looked up our fridge model and found the ice maker replacement online for $125. We found a similar one on amazon for $120. 2) The customer service of the office manager (and owner if she did indeed talk with them) is the worst customer service of a local company I have EVER encountered. The audacity to question a customer without any reservations is unprecedented to me and I cannot believe a company like that has survived in our city.

I wasn't happy with them. He fixed the refrigerator and called me and said that probably once he fixes the refrigerator, the ice maker will be fixed too. When I called them on it, they said, 'We'll come out and see that may be it and not the whole thing.' It was a day before I was going in to surgery. Then I was in surgery and then rehab for a couple of weeks. I wasn't pleased with their answer but at that point I couldn't do anything about it because I was going in to surgery. I didn't pursue it after I got back. They said that probably, it would cost additional fees. I said well, you were just out here and I just gave you all that money and I would expect that the ice maker is part of the freezer. I didn't pursue it after that. The freezer was fixed but not the ice maker in the freezer that wasn't making ice. I just left it that way. I got a tray and made ice cubes that way. I had to throw out all my food. It wasn't a very fabulous experience.

Mr. Appliance answered my Angie's List message quickly, scheduled the service to easily accommodate my schedule and showed-up on time. He was able to repair the dishwasher. I wish the part was not as expensive as it is, but I was completely satisfied with the service and the professionalism of the service provider. I will call Mr. Appliance again for any other appliance repairs.
I thought the person who made the appointment was slightly rude: she could not get me in for about two weeks; she stated I must have the receipt to demonstrate warranty qualification; and she gave me a four-hour window for the technician to arrive.
The technician started out courteously but was not thorough or careful in his diagnosis. He appeared to check one thing only, the water filter. When he removed it and reinstalled it, he pushed too hard. He stated that he should not have to twist that hard to get the filter to seat properly. He ordered parts and scheduled me out three weeks.
Within 90 minutes of his departure I had water flowing from the water filter assembly down the refrigerator and covering a large portion of my hardwood kitchen floor.
I have had over $2,000 of water damage recovery and restoration work done so far with another $1,750 estimated to fix the basement ceiling. The refrigerator is still not working correctly after three more warranty repairs by two other repairers.
Called and asked about availability of service. Said it would be a week. I told them that would not work. They put me on hold, got back on line said they would send someone out that afternoon. Person showed up, diagnosed the problem and said it would be at least a week before part would be available. The charge would be $200 to fix the machine and there would be an $80. charge no matter what. I knew about the service call charge, I did not expect it to take a week to get it fixed...when I contacted them they said that was 'normal'. I feel I should have been given that information up front (aweek) and been able to search elsewhere if I wanted to.
