We were pleased with the outcome. The owner of M squared was easy to contact and responded quickly to our questions. The workers were friendly and did good work.

This is the second summer we did major projects. Both time we used M2. They are reliable, the crew is friendly and the workmanship is the best. Highly recommend you call David for anything. If he doesn’t do it he knows who does and helps you get it all done.

I am not sure where to begin this review of M2. First, though, the men on the crew do a good job, when the boss man sends them. What began as an anticipated restoration of my house (after my husband’s death), budgeted at $25,000-30,000, ended up costing me over $100,000 and left me nearly broke and with many bits and pieces not finished - paid for, but not finished. Granted, there were some unexpected issues, but the entire process took nearly six months, with the house uninhabitable for the majority of that time. 1. My biggest complaint is regarding my custom kitchen cabinets – they were paid in full, which included construction, finishing, and installation. They were delivered and installed completely unpainted and M2 owner thought that I should pay for the additional hours to have them painted. I refused. My lower corner cabinet was to have a Lazy Susan in it – the Lazy Susan is nowhere in sight. The paint job was mediocre, with occasional tiny bugs embedded in the paint because they had to try and paint them outside. Some of the installation was sloppy, with damage to the inside of the cabinets. 2. I had to literally beg, for weeks, to get both my appliances and sinks with faucets installed. Appliances were finally put in place, but the dishwasher was not hooked up and neither was the ice maker. The range hood is still sitting in the box in which it came. I had no sink in the house until just a few days ago when one of the men came on a Saturday just to make sure I had a usable sink. I still have no working ice maker and no range hood installed. 3. The hall bathroom is unfinished with no faucet in the sink and the cabinet beside the shower not even installed or painted. The last person to work on the bathroom left some of his stuff behind, forgotten. The drawers for the bathroom vanity were left just stacked on the living room floor. 4. The electrician used by M2 is another story – not once did they contact me when they were not sure about something. Instead, they just charged ahead – which explains why my kitchen light switch is over five feet INSIDE the doorway rather than next to the doorway, and wall plugs are crooked and not centered. And, when I wanted a dimmer switch added to the hallway light, they added FIVE dimmers, including a very unnecessary dimmer in my pantry. The outside light on the front porch was originally installed at my eye level – I am a short person. I told BP Services owner that I wanted it raised an entire board; he raised it about one inch. And the bathroom vanity light? Still crooked. Kitchen outlets and switches were installed at the wrong level, had to be moved up to accommodate my back splash. They left a mess to be patched. 5. When M2 owner took away the dumpster, he neglected to remove all the trash they left behind – I have paint cans, spilled paint, cigarette butts, broken glass that I will be cleaning for weeks. 6. Finally, if you use M2, watch the hours for which you are billed. Monitor when the crew works and when they don’t. At $85/hour, I really resented paying for 5-6 smoke breaks a day, at least 15 minutes per break, every day they worked. If the owner promises a discount to use his suppliers, get it in writing. I was told that I would get a 30% discount, only to find out months later that I was not getting any discount.
Response from M Square Construction
"In response to the complaint and review that was received by the customer our rebuttal is as follows. The customer is complaining of the electrical work that was done by a separate subcontractor paid for by the customer held money back on the job until the electrician did as she requested. They had a meeting and went over the stuff that at that point needed to be done the electrician completed that work and was paid. The work she is replying to that need to be hooked up was attempted many times but due to the customer purchasing the wrong items and many trips by the guys to hook it up was not complete if the right stuff was there it would been done. This customer has contacted our workers several times to help her with other projects and continues to. There was trades worked out on tools tractors and other stuff that we probably don't realize for additional work so I don't understand the problem with poor workmanship. The house was full of animals cats mainly we worked around that was continuously using the cabinets and floors for their personal litter boxes that was an everyday deal. The floors where basically tore up before we even left due to the animals in the house constant cleaning would not help them to begin with and no paint was sprayed after the floors where in. The discount mentioned for materials is obscured no lumber yard gives a 30% discount for anything at all there was never a mention of a thirty percent discount what was mentioned was the materials would be at cost of what they charge a contractor no mark up like most due. The real reason the project got out of hand was the house was in terrible shape and every time something was removed ten times that had to be fixed due to existing damage that was unforeseen. The customer has been confronted on this issue by one the guys that she continuously contacted for work who has went out there numerous times fixing and repairing things along with doing new projects for her. The customers reply was she didn't care she wanted to be a thorn in our side continuously. There is documented text messages from her praising the guys workmanship and handling of the job. The trash issue is ridiculous there was a dumpster left on the premises free of charge for ample of time to clean up even the homeowners personal trash. The site was clean before anything or anyone left the job. The crew worked and worked on the house to make it a better place at the end of the day it is hard to please everyone that being said we do our best and try to accomplish our goals which is customer satisfaction. The problem is it cost a lot of money to remodel or build a home today especially in these times of pricing sometimes people don't understand the cost. The objects that need fixed we have no problem fixing but the 30% discount is in no way going be resolved. The labor was paid by the homeowner we worked daily on this job the materials where purchased by the homeowner therefore everything that was done was approved and gone over with the homeowner who said do what's best for the house to fix it that's the route we took. The house was totally remodel minus two bedrooms and one bath for this list to be as short as it is that is not bad for what it could of been."

They were punctual , if he said he would be there at a certain time, he would be there. That is a rare quality around here. They were easy to work with and made this monster job go as smooth as possible. The team did a fantastic job and I admire their craftsmanship .
Since we were both out of pocket for several months, I let them know what I wanted & they just took the ball & ran with it. They actually have very good design tastes for men! It took longer than we anticipated & cost more than we had hoped, but the finished product was worth it. The crew was always respectful, hard working & paid attention to details & my particular requests. You won't be disappointed!

Terrible. Do not use this company. I wish I had pictures to post here. I have not taken any yet. Please keep in mind the amount paid is only for labor I had all other materials for the job.
Response from M Square Construction
"Regarding this client and the problems are strongly related to using the material that they had already purchased. The door worked fine and would of even worked better with a new set of hardware which we asked for numerous of times and was told it's not that bad it is fairly new. Second of all the countertop was coming apart sink was to small and the customer was made aware of this. Agian it's just a rent house do what you can I am out of town. Schedules were an almost impossible task to make appointments everything else come first until it was convenient for her. I as a business owner should of never worked on this project but was begged to do it because I can't get anyone else to call me back. Should of been warning enough I lost money on this particular project and didn't even charge the full time we was there. This customer would not work with us to help fix the problem instead demanded money back and threatened if they were not reimbursed they would tell everyone how bad of a company we were. I don't believe if we would of purchased this customer a new home they would still complain it's a sad society when people care more about throwing rocks and trashing people's good reputations rather than working it out. Thanks David Mohler Owner"

Our experience overall was outstanding. David was very up and front with price and expectations. We were able to give him our budget and he worked with us. He left cushion room incase something unexpected popped up. The day after the contract was signed, his crew had ordered supplies and gotten starred. They found some unexpected plumbing and sewage problem and took care of it at a reasonable price. His company leveled and supported all of the weight bearing walls in the house. His crew also repaired some siding on the back of the house that had been destroyed by our dog and was rotting. My only suggestion would be contact. His crews were unable to show up one day, which was fine. However we didn't know and had our dogs crated the entire day. Overall wonderful service and work and we will use them again.

Excellent. His work and attitude is 'old school' which is not seen too much these days. Takes great pride in his work and workmanship. His workers are very polite...courteous and know what they are doing. He is very punctual and keeps in touch by calling. I cannot speak highly enough about him and have referred him to many people who also were impressed to find someone so competent and trustworthy.

They were professional and courteous and explained what needed to be done and why in a way that we could easily understand. They were easy to contact if we had questions. It is difficult to find someone you can trust, but they earned our trust by doing what they said they would do in the way they said they would do it. We highly recommend M Square Construction, and will be using them in the future for other things our home is in need of.

Process went well, as expected with an older house there were unexpected issues that surfaced. Contractor was very clear when issues were discovered, providing solutions and recommendations. He was open to my suggestions and we compromised easily on all issues to stay within project. Contractor and I communicated openly and very often on progress so expectations were always in check. Contractor was easily available via text and phone. He was visible on the job site. M2 Construction crew members were very polite and pleasant. They worked to keep the job site cleaned up and were on time.

I would use M2 Construction again and highly recommend them. David Mohler is professional and extremely personable. He took the time to understand what and how I wanted my project to turn out.
