Mulholland's On Call Plumbing & Heating

Came same day as called, work completed next day.

THE WORST: They cut hole in wLl and put on new valve. Then did not come back or return phone calls. Finally got Mike owner on phone. Said he would order insert or whatever and call me back to say when they would be back to finish job. Never called me back and attempts to call him were unsuccessful. Put on hold and then never come back to phone - today, pressure went back to as low as it was to begin with and valve they installed pulls off wall when turned on! And the hole in wall is still there! I got a real plumber to go over and fix it. What losers.

The plumbers were prompt, professional and courteous. They did an excellent job

On the day of service, I received a call at 0803 and the plumber said he would be right over.  He arrived about 0825 and was done changing out the faucet which I provided within .5 hours.  The plumber did a good job, was very professional and friendly.  As he was leaving, I asked for the bill and he said it would be sent to me.  My house is 15 minutes from Mulholland's On Call Plumbing & Heating's office.  When I received the bill, it was for 1.5 hours of work and the total cost was $141.24.  When I called about this it was explained that their records showed it took the plumber .5 hour to get to my house and then .5 hours to get back.  After discussion, it was agreed to lower the price to $120.  I have no problem paying for mileage to and from my house but time is another matter.  It certainly doesn't take an hour to drive from downtown Saratoga Springs to my house and back.  No other service provider has charged me in this manner. <br /> <br />

We got home from an 8-day vacation to find the sewer line in our house backed up, so we were unable to use any water.  We contacted the plumber at 4:30 in the afternoon and they were at our home within the hour. They worked that evening and all the next day to locate the problem (a frozen section of pipe), thaw the pipe and replace a section.  The work involved digging up the sewer line outside the house.  Throughout the work, the plumbing crew were courteous, friendly and professional.  This was a tense situation for us, but they put us at ease by patiently explaining what was going on through every step of the work.  They did an outstanding job at a reasonable price. <br />

Overall this was a bad experience. They dug up the ground to get to the water line and broke the sewer line while digging. It took a long time to complete the job. This company is poor at communicating. I had a lot of trouble getting answers to questions. I was told that the job would be done on several occasions and they did not come. I asked for a bill and was told that would have it. Then the bill did not come. This went on for a month.

Came to provide routine oil-fired boiler service. Asked why there was always water being expelled from the overflow valve. Tested and found a bad expansion tank. Replace both tank and valve (on the truck). Problem solved! <br />

I know nothing about plumbing. I had a bum valve it turns out and Kohler sent the wrong one. The guy who showed up was courteous and polite even though he could not do much the first two visits and they did not charge me even though they could have. I finally got the valve and even in the midst of many emergencies issues on a snowy Monday morning, the owner personally solved my issue. These guys are a class act!

Prepare to be price gouged..... <br /> When I called I asked how they charged. He said $88 per hour for the time there, plus travel time (15 min each way) to and from the 'shop.'  Fair enough. I asked for an appointment. He said the only appointments they give are the first call of the day (8:30 am) and the first call after lunch. (1:30pm) Great! He had availability for the next day at 8:30 am. (Otherwise, a 2 hour window.) <br /> I expected the plumber to just show up at 8:30 am. But he called first @ 8:04 am. Which is good. But I missed the call (I wasn't told they would call first). I returned the call at 8:10 am. He arrived at 8:45 am and was finished at 10 am.  Scott, the plumber,  was very professional and pleasant to have in my home. I asked for the bill before he left so I could pay it immediately. He gave it to me and I was SHOCKED! $254.66 - 14.66 = $240!!! ($18 for parts) I called the office. Left a message. Mike returned my call promptly. We discussed the price. He said something about charging me from 8am, they don't give appointments, plumbers paperwork???? Anyway,  he offered 2 hours for the plumbers time & travel, parts, tax, plus he accepted the Angie's List Coupon = $186.15. Which was what I expected in the first place. Mike for the most part was agreeable. But if you use them look at the bill before you pay it. You might need to question it. Thank you. <br /> <br />

Mike is a pleasure to deal with.  He's very fair, open and honest.  His crew is extremely pleasant, punctual and knowledgeable.  The work was high-quality and well thought-out.  <br /> I'd recommend them to anyone. <br />

It went very smoothly. Mr. Mullholland was very helpful and the serviceman was capable and tidy. We weren't asked about what kind of replacement faucet we wanted and the one they installed is kind of odd in the way it works. Whenever we have guests they usually don't know how to operate the shower. So that was a disappointment, but not huge. We also felt the hourly rate was pretty high, but didn't have time to shop around to compare the going rates. All in all, quality service, happy to support a good, solid, local business. <br /> <br /> <br />

Fair, honest & reliable. We called on a Sunday evening about our broken disposal. They called us back early Monday morning and came that afternoon. Turns out the disposal was clogged and just needed to be cleaned out. We were very happy with the punctuality and service. Only issue was when I saw the bill I was surprised the total came to over $140 dollars, which was only for labor which they charge $88/hour. The man was here about 20-30 minutes but the bill said 1.5 hours. I called to inquire about the bill and found out they charge for driving distance. Michael told me that someone should have let me know that ahead of time and I agreed. We agreed on $115 total. I am happy with that.

I contacted Mulholland Plumbing after signing up with Angies List. They returned my call within an hour and set up an appointment for the next day. They arrived on time and installed the system. Part of the work was done that day and they returned 2 days later to complete the job. <br /> I recommend that you list Mulholland Plumbing as good firm to contact. <br />

They took about a day to return my initial inquiry. When they did call, they offered to come by immediately (8AM) and the job took about an hour. <br /> All went well - we didn't get an invoice on the day the work was done ( a little worrisome), but when we did get one in the mail a few days later, it wsa fully detailed and  the price was reasonable. <br />

Came the day after my contacting them and performed very well. <br />

We have had a problem with the water pressure in our house for the last two years; and the last six months it has been especially bad. Several "experts" tried this and that but nothing helped. We called Mulholland Plumbing and they were able to diagnose the problem and fixed it too - turned out NOT to be the pressure, but the water volume! I called Mike, the owner, and explained the situation. He listened and understood and sent Kevin, who was wonderful....very knowledgeable and professional. We are thrilled! Have to give a shout out to Tim Hanley a plumber who got it right when he was here, but the fix was more than a one man job, that's when we called Mulholland. <br />

Job well done but $480 in labor costs seems excessive. Helper did nothing but watchyet billed $160 for his services.  Good job but I must question value for cost.       <br /> <br /> <em>After the initial review was posted the owner, Mike, called and said he agreed that the helper may not have been necessary on this job but they can't tell what they may run into.  He indicated that I should have questioned the bill directly before paying.  He then offered to refund half the cost of the helper.  I have upgraded my review of the price as fair and the overall review as an "A".  In many years of using contractors I have never seen a compoany as dedicated to customer satisfaction as this one.</em>

I have used few different times within the last 4 years.  Everything is always done professionally.
