It went great. I called over a weekend and received a return call early Monday morning. Murf scheduled an appointment with me for later in the day and told me he would call 30 minutes prior to arriving which really helped because it enabled me to stay at work until he was headed to our home. Once he arrived, he seemed to immediately know what was wrong and quickly quoted a price for the repair. The repair took about an hour and our washer is working fine. I also like that he has a 30-day guarantee.

Both the refrigerator and freezer compartments of our less than 3 year old Kenmore refrigerator were cooling insufficiently. Murf came on July 21st, looked at the unit, but did not use any diagnostic tools. He said it needed a fan for the evaporator and a new circuit board, but he would have to order them. He asked for 1/2 payment at that time to pay for parts and we gave him a check. He returned 9 days later, installed the parts and said it was fixed but might need a thermistor which had ordered but had received the wrong one. He said there would be no charge to come back and install it when it came. We paid him the remainder of his charges for a total of $426.54. The problem with cooling continued and we called him. He said he would come when he got the thermistor and bring another repairman who was good with refrigeration. Time went by and we had difficulty getting calls returned. We were without use of the refrigerator for 3 weeks. When they came the other repairman seemed very knowledgeable and found the problem quickly. It would have been so costly to repair it, it made better sense to purchase a new refrigerator. What Murf had done had not helped the problem at all. Murf assured us he would be by the next day with a check to refund our money. That didn't happen. We had trouble reaching him by phone. When we finally talked to him, he said he would have his office mail us a check. That didn't happen. We called several times with no answer or return call. Finally Murf called us, said he had had a medical problem and a check would be mailed within 2 days. We received no check or further communication from Murf. We would like our money back.

He showed up on time and was very nice and very professional he spent an hour looking at our freezer and determined that is was not cost effective to repair due to the cost of replacement would be as great or more than a new unit. he did not try and upsell the parts and was very frank about it which we loved.

Would use again in the future A rating from us

We called Murf to fix my daughter's dryer. She was nervous about having someone come to her house that she didn't know so I was there when he came. Murf was great. He was very professional and friendly. We both felt comfortable having him in the house. He fixed the dryer and the cost was less than I thought it would be. A few months later she needed his services again. He was there on time and fixed the washer, again at what she thought was a very fair cost. We would both recommend him for any appliance repair you need.

Our Sub Zero refrigerator and freezer (side by side) could no longer stay cold, and were flashing an error message ("vacuum condenser", I think). I vacuumed the condenser, which didn't help, and tried to figure out what was wrong -- both compressors were running, as was the condenser fan. I called Murf's, and they scheduled a visit for the day after next (the owner was quite apologetic that his schedule wouldn't permit him to come the very next day, and offered a quite unexpected discount by way of apology). He diagnosed the problem as a fan motor that was going bad (it was turning, but not nearly fast enough) and replaced the motor on the spot. The fridge and freezer were cold and quiet as they should be by the time I got home.
He went thru the stove and determined that it would cost more to replace the board than the cost of it warranted. We ended up getting a new stove as he recommended......not from him. He gave us brand recommendations too and it was very accurate with consumer reports
Murf came out the same day I called. He gave me a 3 hour window time frame and he called right before he came out.
He explained what was wrong with it and gave me an accurate estimate on the cost to fix it.
He was professional and did the work in a timely manner.
We will call him again if we have any problems with our appliances.
This company arrived promptly. Got the washing machine back to running better than it has in ages. Someone the house had washed a rug with a rubber of plastic backing that came of and clogged up the drain filter. Murf cleaned out the drain filter. He then checked out the dryer and determined that the dryer is fine but the exhaust vent may need professional cleaning for it to do a better job. I then wrote a check for what seemed to be a reasonable sum, and he went on his way. Everything has been working fine for over a month. Good service. Good price. I would use the company again and recommend him to others.
I chose Murf's from reviews on Angie's List on the basis of people's positive experiences and cost of repairs. The spin cycle on my Frigidare frontloading washing machine had stopped working. When I called Murf's, the woman answering listened to my description of the problem, took the model number of the machine and said she could schedule me the following day. I needed to wait an extra day due to my commitments and we set a time. Murf called to let me know he was on his way and arrived promptly. He diagnosed the problem which turned out to be a bad door latch lock inside the machine and had the part with him. He double checked the part number before installing it. After he installed the switch, he made sure the machine cyclecd correctly including the spin, and made sure there was no water leakage around the door seal before he left. At my request, he also quoted me a price to replace the door hinge which is letting the door sag. He said as long as I was careful in alligning the door before closing it, he thought I could get by without fixing this but would be happy to do if I wanted him too. I felt the price for the repair he did and the price he quoted me for the hinge replacement were fair. He was careful in his handling of the machine and the surrounding area. I'm always curious about how things work and he was fine with my watching him and he answered any questions I had
.
Called Murf's Appliance Repair on a Monday, late a.m. 11 year old Kenmore, 25 CF, side-by-side, on the fritz. Murf was out to the house on Tuesday morning around 8:30 a.m. Discovered that the Start, Relay and Overload switch was history. Had replacement part in his service vehicle and the repair was completed post haste. Also had him check the ice maker. Found that it was worn out, so he checked on the cost to replace, wrote it on his invoice and let me know that if I wanted that replaced, he would get the part and install it as part of this visit (no more fees) -- just give him a call. Great service and fair price. Will definitely use Murf's Appliance Repair again and will recommend him to friends and family.
Murfshowed us how to keep our drain cleaned out. We didn't even know
where it was. He gave us good advice on maintenance . He also made sure the
machine was working properly before he left. He didn't make any
repairs as it wasn't necessary. We appreciated his honesty and will call him again.
The repairman was late even after confirming the appointment, He said he got lost after I told him the exact cross streets (well known streets). After arriving he told me he had to bring his personal vehicle since his work vehicle was in for repairs. He asked where to park and after I told him on the driveway he informed me his vehicle was leaking so i told him to park on the street at the entrance to the condos. He did not move and left a puddle of anti-freeze on my drive. He was not the most knowledgeable or coordinated with the repair. He did get it repaired but I was not so sure. He wanted to talk more than work. I was not given any billing information when i booked the appointment, but was required to pay before he left. Even with my coupon I was billed the wrong amount however he did drop cash off at my office for the difference.
Response from Murf's Appliance Repair
"Let me start with stating, as the owner of Murf's Appliance Repair, the buck stops here and I accept full responsibility for the miscommunication which occurred between Member, myself and my team. That said, respectfully, we have all he heard the phrase, "You can please all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot please all the people all the time." This happens to be the one which was not "pleased". I personally ran this service call and would just like to clarify some of the concerns Member expressed. As per our protocol, I did call Member about twenty to thirty minutes in advance to alert him I would be arriving within the appointment window as set by my office. All of our Techs, including myself, use Google Navigator on our smart phones. It’s a great tool, but even Google gets it wrong and I am sure anyone reading this response has experienced this at least once before. Upon realizing Google had gotten the location wrong, I immediately called Member explained I was close but needed a little assistance finding the exact location. Member stated in his review that the streets were “well known” - respectfully, I disagree. The cross streets were minor side streets and the actual physical location was on an even more odd side street. After finding the actual location, I did park in the driveway against company policy and informed Member the vehicle had an antifreeze leak. Because of the lack of parking in the area, Member indicated this would be fine because he was in a hurry and he would just wash it off. I do accept the responsibility for not following company policy regardless of the circumstance and permission. As I normally do during the diagnostic procedure, for which Member was standing near, I try to explain the procedure to all our customers so they understand how I arrive at final conclusions. We view this approach as an ad value to our customers. Member must have mistaken this approach for a lack of knowledge and unwanted chatter and for this I do apologize. Member expressed concern over not receiving information on how our billing worked right up front. Again, I respectfully disagree with his interpretation of the situation. One of the first topics of discussion our office always introduces right up front are - rates, fees and forms of payment we except and when we expect it. We always manage the expectation of cost right up front. But, don’t just take my word for it. Should you give us the opportunity to earn your business and call, you will find our fee explanation as I described it every time. As a final note, it is true I did over charge Member at the time of collection. I did not include the 10% discount off of the labor as offered on the Angie’s List coupon. Immediately realizing the mistake, within fifteen munities, I delivered $7.90 in cash directly to his office. We pride ourselves on excellent customer service as one can see from all the rest of our Angie’s List Reviews, Google Reviews as well as our video customer testimonials locate on our website and the other numerous none published letters of thanks we have received in the past. We always approach our customers with, honesty, integrity and most importantly with utmost respect. We just simply ask for the same in kind..."The Golden Rule." We look forward to hearing from you and the opportunity to earn your business. With kindest regards, Murf"

As stated, arrived during day and time promised, was very patient to explain to what went wrong, the part broken and need to replace. Ordered the part and came back and installed it just as promised. Very reliable service, very punctual and very reasonable repair cost for the amount of travel, work and material to do the job. I will definitely use Murf again if I need appliance repair and wholeheartedly recommend Murf to family, friends and anyone who needs a great appliance repair service.
