Dishonest, unresponsive, and poor work quality. Our pool has been built and filled for over 6 months and they have not been able to get the spa to work properly. It has to be refilled every few days due to the water draining out of it. If we want it full and usable, it would need to be refilled every day. We have been asking them to fix it for months, but it’s still not fixed, so it’s been unusable all Fall and Winter, and now Spring. We were told one of the fix attempts would be to install a check valve, which Ken Reda indicated should be done that day. Didn’t happen. I checked with him the following week and was told it should be that week. Two weeks later, I find out the valve still hasn’t even been ordered (although Ken said that it was weeks before) because the new owner apparently had not approved spending the money to fix this design/construction defect. They finally came out and I assume installed the valve, but it still does not work. I say assume because I have tried contacting them several times about it and they will not respond, so no idea what is going on. Just one of many examples of their dishonesty, unresponsiveness, and disregard for their work defects, and inability to properly design and install a functioning pool and spa. They assign people to do work that they are not capable of doing, including their on-site leadership. Their site supervisor said “this is above my pay grade” when our landscape contractor pointed out that the drainage work the supervisor did (rigged up really) would not work, but would instead flood our basement. So, he just out there doing work he knows that he is not qualified to do and just making it up as he goes. We had to pay the landscape contractor to fix that and other work of theirs that was deficient. As other reviews have stated, they appear to be trying to learn as they go and that is not the way to go with such an expensive project. They charged us for an autofill system but did not install it. We pointed that out and they had to check on it. Months later, they said it was due to there not being a spigot although there was a suitable one right by the equipment that they installed. Right in front of them. It’s now supposed to be installed at some point but I haven’t heard anything about it for weeks although I continue to ask. The quality of work leaves a lot to be desired. The pavers are cut poorly and spaced apart inconsistently. The pool wall of our rectangular pool is somehow curved on the outside, which is very noticeable. The gate of the fence they installed is unstable and leans and there is a large space between two stairs they installed, which is a trip hazard. They have known about these issues for months and still have not even attempted to address them. They first only dug 6 feet for a 7 foot deep end. We had to measure and point that out to them.

Too many issues during and after installation. They applied the wrong pebbletec from what was selected. There are pending issues including incorrectly graded pavers which causes water logging, the autofill system leaks underground and floods the lawn, they have not installed the overflow cover still, it took months to get a cover for the autofill, and we still haven't gotten the warranty and documents for all the equipment. We have mud, poly sand and pebbletec inside the filters because they did not cap pipes, and they tore up drains and damaged our driveway. Bad planning meant they ruined the driveway, lawn (and did not fix), installed pipes incorrectly and had equipment damaged for 3 weeks before they realized and corrected.

Having a pool built can be a stressful experience given the customization nature of the work and the significant cost. Communication and patience are critical to keeping your sanity during the process (this is our second one). Courtney (our project manager) is a saint. I am a stickler for time lines and my wife is particular about…well everything. From the first visit to their showroom ( when we shopped other pool builders they were the only ones to have their own showroom) we felt confident we were going to get the care and quality we expected for such a large purchase. Courtney delivered through the whole journey. She helped my wife select patterns and colors for each stage and was always patient and helpful even after my wife changed her mind more than once. Ken was diligent in communicating schedule changes (mostly due to weather) and even though I understood the changes due to weather I can be impatient but Ken and Courtney were always professional. So it was a great experience and beautiful craftsmanship once completed. I highly recommend them and look forward to have them continue beyond the build with their pool service.

We loved working with My Pool Builders! They went above and beyond every step of the process. Let me tell you… these guys work HARD. It was about 3 weeks in from the start of our pool build and we had an inspection the next day, they worked until 10pm ensuring we’d be ready for the inspection the next morning! One of the best things about this company compared to any other builder you’ll get a quote from - they hire their employees full time, they don’t subcontract anything out so you know it’s quality work. They are also the only ones who offer self cleaning pool systems standard. Owning a self-cleaning pool is a GAME CHANGER!! Not only does it clean itself up easily (without a giant robot to take in and out of the pool) it also heats more efficiently. Recently our pool heater decided to rebel and needed repair, they contacted Hayward for us, had a Hayward repair rep come and work with us and ultimately replaced the heater for us. Every question I’ve had about pool maintenance or equipment has been answered right away. I highly recommend using My Pool Builders for your pool!

Very professional and timely. Installation went well and they kept me updated on the progress and any issues that popped up (one minor). Would recommend them as I like to work with small businesses that offer a more personal level of service.
