We have a large home built in 1900. There were many coats of chipped paint and wallpaper throughout. Dennis Nagel and his crew did a fantastic job stripping wallpaper, sanding the many coats of paint off the woodwork and patching all the large cracks in the ceilings. The finished walls and ceilings are flawless. Dennis recommended paint colors, repainted the entire house and it is transformed and beautiful. They worked long days, during very hot weather, without air conditioning in the house. Dennis has a strong work ethic and takes pride in what he does. He will go that extra mile to do an impeccable job.

I've used Dennis in the past and he always does a good job. Our house is cedar and needed to be freshend up. Dennis and Tim came over at 9 am. They covered everything I wanted and started staining. They worked like troopers on ladders all day. They were amazing. If they dripped stain on anything they cleaned it up.
My wife and I took all the lights and accessories off and on the house. All I wanted them to do was soak as much stain into the siding as they could. They finished up at 5:30 pm with only a short break for lunch. They did an amazing job and I would highly recommend Nagel Painting.
The team did an impressive job on the prep work filling holes, caulking, getting rid of hornet nests that I didn't even know existed, and pointed out an ant problem to me. I was impressed on their thorough preparation which is key for all good paint jobs. My house is 1970 with red wood siding, they took care on one side to add an extra coat because the wood is so dry and they wanted it to look even. Summer is busy and rain can cause delays so it took a little time to get them here, but that is to be expected with outdoor work and I was willing to be flexible with the timeline. The team was courteous and Dennis was very patient and helpful during the color picking phase. My house looks like new and I've had many compliments from neighbors. I would hire them again and recommend their work.
I was pleased and surprised by the thorough job the painters did.
Dennis Nagel (The owner) took lots of time to present paint colors and discuss them with us. I would have chosen the second sample, but after seeing others, was happy I hadn't rushed. We got exactly the color we wanted. We were also surprised at the "prep" time the team spent on our house. We hadn't painted in a long time, and they scraped off any loose paint, fixed woodpecker holes and badly worn boards. We were shocked when we walked around the house after the painting was completed and couldn't even tell where there had been damage.
Dennis and his crew were always friendly, professional and helpful.
I would (and have) recommended Nagel Painting to my friends, and would definitely use them again.
A+ !!
Dennis is great. When I called him to get the work done, he was very busy, but he worked with my schedule to find a time to squeeze me into his.
There was a lot of work, all of it in frankly unrewarding small pieces. This is the kind of work we all have around our house, needing to get done, but not every painter that you call in is willing to do it. Dennis is extremely patient and willing to add extras on to the original project when you belatedly discover that there is more to be done. I discovered some damage to my exterior paint work the day before Dennis and his crew came over--they hadn't brought a tall enough ladder with them, but were great about the extra trip that had to be made to get it.
The bottom line--Dennis (and his crew) are extremely professional and great people to work with. I've worked with Dennis on various parts of my home for the past six years: ceilings (and ceiling repair), the complete exterior, rooms, sills, trim and walls. Every time he has been out, he makes it easy for me. The job is always done right, if issues occur he fixes them, and his clean-up is meticulous.
He did a great job. He was very personable and nice. His other workers were great and they worked in unison. They did a beautiful job.

My husband and I were looking for a painter who was personable as well as professional. We found this in Dennis. Dennis worked with my husband and I on finding the right colors for our house from the start. He definitely wanted the house to look sharp. We felt confident that he was trying to make sure we were getting what we wanted while providing his own observations and expertise. In the end, we picked very unique colors and we couldn't be happier. This job lasted a lot longer than expected, because of the poor spring we had, but Dennis and his crew worked hard. They made sure to clean up each day when they finished, too. They eventually came back in early fall to finish our back door.

Dennis was very discriminate with the colors and made sure that the right colors were used in the right spaces. He paid a lot of attention to details on how the shadows fell and the lighting of each room, and the resulting paint color. He was also willing to work with me on some specific materials I requested for painting the stucco on the outside. Overall, I highly recommend Dennis for any of your painting needs.

On May 22nd I called Dennis but it seemed like a bad connection so I also sent him an email. He responded via email that day and he said he'd be in the area the next week. We set up a time for the 28th. He arrived on time. He was very professional and he took his time looking over the house and garage and noted how he would do things, what type of paint he would use, etc. I pointed out some problem spots on the garage (woodpecker damage) and on some of the trim (squirrel damage). He said that he could fit the job into this schedule about 4 or 5 weeks in the future and he said he worked with a three-man crew including himself. He said it would take a week or less depending on the weather. When he left, he said he would have an estimate to me by the end of the week. I asked him to separate the cost of the house from the garage in case I just wanted the house done. He actually emailed the estimate to me that night - the evening of the 28th. He estimated that the trim on the house would cost $2310 and the garage would cost $1390. This was much less than another bid I received even though the type of paint used would be the same, the number of painters working was the same, etc. I signed the contract the next week and sent Dennis a down payment of one-third the total cost. Dennis and his crew arrived on August 6th and dropped off their equipment. We had a major storm the night before so it was too wet to start anything. On August 7th they scraped the old paint off. Painting started on the 8th with a primer for the house trim. The garage didn't need a primer. Dennis asked if they could work on Saturday, the 10th. That was fine with me. During this week Dennis and his crew were careful to cover the ground so any paint chips were taken care of. They were careful about the plants I had mentioned to them; nothing got trampled. They put all their equipment away every evening (I told them they could use my garage for storage). They had to put ladders in my neighbor's yard since the north side of my house is very steep. They were respectful of his yard and tried to minimize the intrusion. We all thought that all the work was done when they left on Saturday. However, Dennis was very adamant that I call him if I noticed anything. During the next week I noticed two things - there was a small area over one window that had been primed but not painted and the large garage door had not been painted. Dennis and one of his guys came back on Friday of that week to finish everything and profusely apologized for missing those items. During this time Dennis and his crew were friendly, professional, and easy to work with. This was a good experience and I would definitely use them again when I'm ready to have some interior painting done.

Dennis is great. I highly recommend him for exterior painting. (We used him previously to paint our 1940s house.) The interior painting was fine, but not outstanding. I'll definitely use Nagel Painting again for exterior work, not necessarily for interior. But maybe. I like Dennis; he's a good painter and a super-nice guy. I just think his staff painters are probably better at exterior painting, and that's who did most of our work indoors.
Dennis Nagel and his two man crew spent 3 days scraping the exterior of
the house. They did a complete and detailed job removing peeling paint
from the cedar shakes. I was impressed how hard they worked at scraping. They barely took any breaks. Tarps were placed under all areas scraped and the paint chips were disposed by the crew. They taped and covered windows and then applied the primer.
They were prepared to start painting the following day but the weather didn't
cooperate. They removed the plastic for the weekend and on Monday taped
and hung the plastic again.
Dennis and crew started painting in the
morning, but when it got hot in the afternoon they stopped so the paint
could dry naturally.
Overall they did an excellent job and was more
concerned about quality than speed. It took a couple of days
longer than expected but that was due to additional time scraping and the
hot weather.
Dennis and his team were very professional. It took them a day and part of the next morning to complete the job.
They were very meticulous, picking up the paint chips and cleaning up after themselves.
Our house looks great!

The exterior of our house was in desperate need of a paint job. We chose Nagel Painting because they were very prompt and thorough when coming out to give an estimate.
They began the project by scraping, repairing, and then priming the house. All of the extra time and effort really showed in the end result.
Also, they did a phenomenal job of keeping the yard clean. While scraping, they carefully vacuumed and removed any & all paint chips. Each day the yard was picked-up and all equipment was put away. I was amazed by their attention to detail!
We were EXTREMELY satisfied with the job and would recommend them to anyone!

It was a major project and they did a fabulous job. Their attention to detail and quality of work makes them stand out. They were just personally accountable for everything that they did. I think, the quality of the workmanship that they did was excellent. I couldn’t say enough about it. The thing I liked about them is that they are a small 2 or 3 person company; so the owner of the company was hands on involved in much of the work. I felt that the attention to my needs and requirements were met. I would definitely hire them again and recommend them. I really thought that the price was reasonable.

We're very pleased with the entire process. We had used Dennis before to paint our exterior trim, so we were confident that he would do a great job with the inside. While it took a little longer than we were expecting, the results were worth the wait. Dennis's attention to detail is fantastic. He not only made the walls, ceilings and trim look beautiful, he also made old worn interior wooden stairs and all the original windows look like new. Years of condensation and sun light had taken their toll on the windows, now they look fantastic. Dennis also made many years of bad paint jobs disappear by removing all the annoying paint splatters and seepage from the window trim and hardwood floors. The house has never looked this good! Great job! Highly recommended!

Dennis had previously painted the exterior of our home, and we knew we wanted him back when these two small projects in our home arose.

Dennis and his crew redid the drywall and repainted the ceiling in our office after a bath tub seal cracked. This involved cutting out the drywall around a ceiling fixture and replacing it. After they had finished, the repair was perfectly blended into the texture of the ceiling. Really nicely done.

The second part of the job involved refinishing the 90 year old wooden sills in our living room. The never-painted sills are beautiful hardwood, but over time (and in one case, the former owner had allowed some weather damage to occur) they had lost their finish and looked bad.

This is the kind of craftsmanship project that Dennis just seems dedicated to doing really well. The wood of the sills was so hard and so completely cured, it was a challenge to get the new stain and poly-coat to properly take; Dennis came over four times to apply extra coats/top coats. The result is wood with a deeply burnished, beautifully silkily finished texture.

The final result looked a lot better than I had expected--more like the care a homeowner would take on their own home if they really knew how to apply the products. All the sills are beautiful now and match perfectly, this was NOT the case when Dennis started working on the job.

Dennis is so dedicated, he does have one area of weakness: when he makes his bids, he has a tendency to underestimate the work hours necessary. This is largely owing to his willingness to "go the extra mile" rather than simply slap up paint and presume the homeowner won't notice that he's ignored some complicating factor. By the time he had applied the third coat of sealer, I was satisfied--but Dennis didn't like how the product was taking on the extremely dense wood and scheduled an extra visit to do the extra coat without my asking for it. And he was right--that last coat made all the difference in really making the sills look beautiful and "pop" (in a good way!).

I love working with Dennis--wish I could find repair people/craftsmen like him in all the service areas I need!

Contacted Dennis Nagel for an estimate, and he came within a day to look over the job.
We discussed the options for type of stain, as the premium solid color I applied the year before was seriously flaking off.
Dennis suggested that after pressure washing, we should apply a first coat of semi-transparent stain, as this is likely to soak into the wood, and then apply a second coat of a mix of semi-transparent and solid color.
The whole process took only two full days, with Dennis and two other workers.
The Nagels met the promised date of completion, and the deck looks fabulous.
Dennis was completely professional in his approach to the work, and he stayed in touch with me for the whole process.
I strongly recommend Nagel Painting, without reservation.
Dennis Nagel and his crew painted the entire interior of our home including the ceilings in several rooms. They did a superior job. Everything was completed in a timely manner. They were very careful and took great pains to minimize the amount of dust produced from the sanding that was required. Dennis also stained and varnished our front door. It looks amazing. From the start of this project to it's completion, Dennis was mindful of our budget and was very honest about the cost. He is very professional and the results are outstanding! I have recommended to him to several people and will continue to do so.

He had good reviews. We were very happy with him. He spent a lot of time. He gave us a lot of paint samples. He was more than willing to give us time to pick a color and he gave a lot of recommendations. He was very neat. He cleaned up after painting was finished. The price was very good too because we had it all done 11 years ago. I would definitely use him in the future too.

It went very well. We had a fire in our home and wanted to get the interior repaired and repainted and restained quickly. Dennis came the day I called him and gave me budget estimate. Within a few days, he was on site with his helpers and completed the work promptly as promised. We had a few touch ups that we thought should be address afterwards and he arrived the same day and took care of the touching up. Dennis is a very professional painter and stained. I highly recommend him for painting and staining work. Jim Losleben

Our house, deck and fence were damaged by hail in a storm earlier in the summer. After wrestling with insurance claims (grrr) we had several estimates done for the work. Dennis arrived on time and was always pleasant to work with. Preparation and painting occurred over the course of 10 days due to very thorough preparation and close attention by Dennis to weather conditions. When there was a misunderstanding about color on some trim and downspouts Dennis addressed it immediately with the only concern that the job was done the way we wanted it. When fencing required extensive prep to address hail damage and dry conditions there was no discussion about any additional cost. It was just taken care of. I would strongly recommend Nagel Painting to anyone looking for quality, good pricing and professional work.

They did a great job. They were thorough, on time, professional and did a high quality job. Their bid was competitive for the amount of work they did and compared favorably to others who bid more for the same type of work.
