About us

Nail It Handyman. The Difference: The traditional handyman does not understand the difference between “handyman” “contractor” or “carpenter”. When there is an opportunity for a big renovation, the Handyman will gladly accept the job, forgetting about all other customers who will need to wait 2 months to hang a light fixture or picture frame. We at Nail It Handyman, dedicate all our time exclusively to handiwork. We turn down renovation offers so we can focus on “handiwork” – the installations, repairs and maintenance that make your home and office a pleasure to be in. Call today and see your To-Do list disappear. You’ll be glad you did.

Patrick Jozanovic arrived to remove wallpaper on August 1st. He then went to Homedepot for supplies - which I later found out had been given to him by a worker at Home Depot since Patrick had never removed wallpaper before. When he returned he started the job. He worked at the job until end of day. He asked if it was ok and stated he had never removed wallpaper before. I was horrified and what I saw - holes, paper remaining and a light fixture pulled from the wall rather than unscrewed from its back plate. I felt it was useless to berate him since he wasn't aware of the mess he had created. Foolishly I paid for the work rather then refuse and have to company come out to see the work - or lack of it. Patrick did more harm than good and I have since had someone come and make the room ready by removing wallpaper areas. spackling holes - etc.

Sent multiple pictures before hand of what was requested, 1st person was unprepared and did not know how to do the job but tried anyway! He ended up destroying sheet rock with electrical hanging off the drywall, crooked just shotty horrible work and cleanup (none left drywall over everything). I complained 2nd manager came out and he atleast knew what he was doing and noted all the concerns. He left the job unfinished didn't come back, they sent a 3rd person who was just marginally better than the first guy who had no tools. These folks need to be out of business. I am contacting anyone who will listen. I think it is poorly managed- the guys in the field have no idea of what they are walking into and apparently are scared to say no.

This is the first time I have ever written a review but I felt the public needs to be aware of these scammers. I was quoted 1/2 day to power wash and another 1/2 day to stain. (It costs $550 for 1/2 day so I was expecting to pay $1100 in total). Well it ended up that it took 2 full days to complete the deck work. The first day, the technician came and he said he needs to rent a power washer at Home Depot. Well it took him 2 hours(!!) to do that which I had to pay for and I also had to pay for the rental. Who comes for a power wash job without the actual machine? Then the technician proceeded to take 5 hours to power wash a small deck. My neighbor hired a company that power washed his entire house in 5 hours much less his deck. But what made me really angry was I had asked them initially what materials I need to have ready so they can start the job as soon as they come. They did NOT tell me I should rent a power washer. If they did tell me, I would have had it ready for them so they can start their work. But instead, I had to pay $135 x 2 hours ($270) for them to pick up a power washer (plus the power wash rental of $150). I called and complained and they credited me for one hour. To make a long story short, beware of this company. I told their office manager in my complaint that I take partial responsibility for this mess...I should have read the reviews before I gave them the job. The reviews would have definitely prevented me from hiring them. I will NEVER hire them again.

Absolutely stay away from this company! Home advisor and Angi should be ashamed for recommending these crooks! They sell you on their services then send technicians that have no idea what they are doing. They were supposed to do a simple installation of an Attic fan and totally screwed up the job and had to send 3 separate technicians to my home to try and correct the faulty attic installation that was never fixed. They had the nerve to tell me my roof was too high and that they need me rent a ladder and send 3 more technicians for an additional $999.. Unbelievable.. Lauren - the so-called office mgr tells me that there is nothing she can do. I even showed up at their office ( You should see that disaster- looking office) and the Owner- Jake Guttman wouldn't come out oof his office to speak to me. Buyer BEWARE!!! This company is run by SCAM ARTIST!!!

Fantastic, Aaron did what I requested as well purchasing the type of handrail I requested. He takes pride in his work and is very detailed oriented and professional. He did an excellent job cleaning up when the job was completed. I definitely would recommend Aaron for my next job without equivocation!!

I provided them pictures of my wood deck and sales persoon estimated 1 or 1.5 day job for wood deck repair/maintenance. It was a reasonable cost so I went ahead. On the appointment day, only one tech came for approx 600ft sq area to be taken care of, which would take more than 1.5 day. They said they had to charge a half day at least even though I didn't go for the wood deck repair/maintenance. I had the tech to do the other small job that was also listed, re-corking around the bathtub. He finished the job in 45 minutes. So at the end, they charge me for a half day for a 45 minutes job. This must be a joke. This would be the last time to use this company and I can't recommend them to anyone!! UPDATE: They charged me $450 for 45 minutes re-corking around the bathtub. Do you think it is reasonable? I don't think so. UPDATE: Finally office manager called me after a few email and phone calls. This manager is not there to satisfy the customer at all. She says sorry but she actually is not. She just kept pushing me their policy and not rectifying the situation as they previously said "Hi PearlG Lease, Thank you for sharing your feedback. Our team values all customers and we always strive to provide the best experience possible. Please contact our manager at office@nailithandy.com. We would appreciate the opportunity to speak with you and rectify the situation." They say tech would be there to assess the job and 1.5 day estimate that I received in email was not estimate. So having a tech to assess is $450? Such a ridiculous business scheme, very shady. If you want to save your money, time and peaceful mind, I don't recomment this company to use. They are not giving me any discount and they finished with me by charging me $450 for a small 45 minutes job.

I hired Nailit Handyman to modify some built in bookshelves, to fix a sheetrock seam on my bedroom ceiling and prep both for painting so we can paint, then if thee was any time left over to fix any sheet rock cracks and also prep them for painting. I booked them for a full day which was 8 hours. When I spoke to Tom he claimed his guys were MacGyvers that were master carpenters and that were very skilled. This was NOT the case. My handyman was Fabio Goncalves Let's go through all the issues. 1. The whole time he was here he ONLY worked on the bookshelf, and he patched a couple of cracks in the drywall. He did not get to the bedroom ceiling at all and then said there was no time for him to do it. 2. The bookshelf looks horrible! MacGyver?? More like Mr. Magoo. It looks like an amateur did it, not a "professional master carpenter" He didn't even finish the bookshelf and told us: "Oh you have to sand it, and you have to add this piece of wood so it looks better" Umm that is what I paid THEM to do! If a carpenter saw the work this guy did, they would probably cringe at how bad it was done, how sloppy and how crappy it came out. 3. He left a mess and didn't even clean up after himself 4. The couple of cracks he did patch with compound, he did a very sloppy job and did not even prep it good enough to be sanded and then even dripped compound on a part of my wall and didn't bother to clean it off. 5. Even though I had booked him for a full day, he left over 2 hours early!! He claimed that his bosses were Jewish and he wasn't allowed to work longer. As someone who has worked for Orthodox Jewish people in the past, I KNOW on Fridays they need to stop finish working by sundown. The sun was actually still up and was still up for another 3 hours after he left. So this is BS. Also, if they knew they could only work until a certain time on Friday, then WHY book the full day and charge me for 8 hours when he was here a little less than 6. 6. He said there was not enough time to do the bedroom ceiling. Well, had he hadn't taken the time we was here to ONLY do the bookshelf, he would of had the time! The two main reason why I hired these people were to modify the bookshelf and fix the ceiling. 7. He went to Home Depot for materials, took way too long and then never showed us a receipt or anything!! How are we supposed to know what they charge us for materials is valid and not a lie? I have never seen such unprofessional work! I would NOT recommend these guys to do any work. Now because of their incompetence, I have to hire someone else to fix their work and make it look professional and finish they things they failed to do. We were supposed to start painting so we can move in next week and we can't even do that because I need to have someone else come in and fix their F-ups!! He also didn't clean up after himself and also even though I had paper on the floors still managed to get a ton of dust of the floors I just spent $4550 refinishing last week. I would stay far away from these guys! I regret hiring them and wish I had hired someone to do it based on the job, not by the hour! I was afraid that if they were paid by the hour that they would take their time and milk it and I was right! Even when I expressed these concerns before hiring them, they re-assured me they were "professionals" and wouldn't do that.. BS! These guys are FAR from professionals. I will be disputing the charge with my credit card company and will also be fighting this with every ounce of my being. I will not accept this!! These guys ended up costing me more money in the end, are delaying me moving in and everything! DO NOT HIRE THEM if you need anything major done. Perhaps I should be thankful he didn't get to my bedroom ceiling, he probably would have messed that up and did a sloppy job on that as well!!

This company has some 5 star reviews and they MUST be fake because listen... what I needed done was to have someone from this company fix a 3 by 3 foot part of a ceiling , fix a leak on a small roof, replace a shower handle mechanism, attach ducts to the vents in the basement, and to install a 120V plug in outlet for drying machine. Out of the things I needed to be done... only two were completed. The employee named Mike fixed the shower handle mechanism, put a 3 feet patch of tar on the roof... and that was it! When I asked him if he fixed the ceiling that needed to be replaced he told me he can come back and do it. I told him to just fix it now because we need it fixed today. Then he tells me the tenant on the second floor Whos ceiling was supposed to be fixed told him “it’s ok to not fix it today”. When I asked the tenant if that was true, she said it was not! When I asked him to fix the ceiling today instead of coming another day, he also said he doesn’t have the materials to fix it. Which was weird because in the description of the job that the company agreed to and sent me via email, it clearly says “repair ceiling”. Now how do you come to a job to repair a ceiling without materials to repair a ceiling?? So Mike ends up leaving without repairing the ceiling. I get a bill for 4 hours of work and materials which came up to about $530. I call the manager and he tells me that Mike told him “I didn’t ask him to do the ceiling today”, which is a lie. The ceiling work was in the job description anyway so it should have been done. I also told the manager that it does not take you 4 hours to change a shower handle mechanism and put a 3 by 1 foot area of tar on a roof. The manager was trying to find all types of ways to justify what didn’t make sense. Also, I seen a review that said the company forged a signature for a customer and she had to pay the bill even though she didn’t sign. So I went to check my invoice and there was a forged signature on my invoice as well. My advise to anyone looking through the reviews to see if they should hire this company or not is to not hire this company. Just choose a different one and hopefully you have a better experience.

Plumber was suppose to be here between 8-9:30am...never showed up till after 2:30...Thom never answered any of my calls or texts...They were suppose to fix the hot water problem in my master bathroom...the water turnoff valve in the downstairs powder room...and paint it...in the kitchen they were suppose to install a water filter...the plumber spent most of the time running from room to room doing a little bit here and a little bit there...shower never fixed...didn’t have right tools...powder room only sparkled...never painted at all...the water filter under the kitchen sink split and dropped down...made numerous calls sent a lot of texts to no avail...no one would call me back...they charged my credit card for more than we agreed on...I have a dispute filed with my card company as of now...unless you want to be RIPPED OFF...DO NOT...LET ME REPEAT...DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY...this is the worst people on the face of the earth...they will call you back as many times as needed to pull you in...after the CRAPPY work...you will never hear from them again. Writing this to let others be aware and to be careful dealing with them...I will be taking this further to try and get my money back...I will have to get someone else in to clean up their mess. I WILL NEVER USE THIS COMPANY OR RECOMMEND THEM AGAIN!

I am writing this review to warn anyone considering using Nail It Handyman to find another Handyman service. I should have realized that any company that requires you to give them your credit card number prior to performing any service to be a big red flag. I was assured by Thom that my card would not be charged until the work was completed. I was also told that I would be billed one hundred and ten dollars per hour spent by the handyman working on the project. I sent in four pictures of my deck stairs that needed to be repaired to give him an idea of what the project entailed. Their handyman came to my home three hours late. He was supposed to be there at twelve p.m. and he showed up at three p.m. He looked at the job and said that the stairs would need to be replaced and he could not do that work. The handyman was at my house approximately five minutes. He called his boss and was told to tell me that I would be charged 150.00 dollars for his handyman coming to my house. My charge card was charged 178.00 dollars for this fiasco and apparently since a handyman actually showed up at my house for five minutes and did not do any work, I have no recourse. Avoid this company at all costs. They are dishonest and they misrepresented their terms. They did send me an agreement to sign via email and I did not sign it. I am planning to contact the Better Business Bureau regarding this company. Unfortunately, they had my credit card number and that is how they operate this scam. I contacted their customer service regarding the charges approximately seven times and I never received a response.

all jobs were done poorly and cheaply, but i paid top dollar. paid for the tech to spend two hours at home depot and a half hour for lunch, when i tried to contact Jacob Guttman, he did not return my calls. Mr. Guttman has zero intergrity, because when you see the pictures of the work, you would think a second grader did it. Do not use, you will not get treated well if they come in and do poor work!!!!!!!!!!! the pictures say it all, notice the block of wood holding up the fence!! and the glob of cement on an unrelated pole. also, note the half **** paint job, you can see the rust, should have been wire brushed or sanded first, unbelievable, you see thosepictures, that is your name JACOB GUTTMAN DID NOT NAIL IT, BUT YOU SURE DID SCREW ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nothing short of A nightmare. Hired this company to install a pool. After many attempts finally got the pool up and filled realized it was not level not completely in the track and some of it was already buckling...contacted them again to come and fix it...they are no longer taking our phone calls. After We gave a card number for a deposit to book the job they placed an unauthorized charge against our bank account after we explained to them that we would be paying in cash. Do not use this company they do not know what they are doing.

Awfu in all my years and I am a senior I have never dealt with such unprofessionalism. Wehired nailit to level for an intex portable pool. First response was great. 2 guys showed up the day scheduled with 1 shovel no other supplies for the job. They were here all of 4 and 1/2 hours 45 mins of that was a lunch break. There was no communication between the workers and us. I suppose when there time was up they got in their truck and left! Without even the courtesy of telling us. Of course we called the man we booked the job with Tom out if NJ. He assured us he would make right by us! Well after that contact we have not been able to reach him again. He has not returned a call, text or email!! A lot of nerve to say the least!!! But there was definitely money taken out if our account with out permission a contract nothing!!! If you read this review and still decide to go with this company all I can say is do not give them any money until you see what them do for you! They really took advantage of us so sad in these times not to be able to trust someone’s word!!!! I would love to show pictures if the work they did in the time they were here!
