"The above customer while in negotiation for pool installation stated that their land was level in their perception. The agreed upon price was quoted with minimal leveling needed to be done. We arrived and advised one specific spot in the yard that was the closest to being level, and also right beside their patio so they didn’t track mud inside after they exited the pool. They choose to put it on their slope far away from the house instead. They saved $10,000 on what just the national average cost is for above ground installation. After saving that much they refused to extend the quote to cover the cost of heavy equipment to help level their yard. So our crew manually labored what they could in the tough ground and then used every sandbag in stock at the nearest Home Depot to try to make up the difference to getting it level. With the budget allowed by the customer, and the location chosen, the end result was what they had paid for. Instead of offering to meet us in the middle on the price, they wanted a 50% refund on the already $10,000 savings. Until it came down to paying them money so we could come back and level their yard out of our pockets, we had committed to them in working at it until it was perfect."
