Louie--Tiled a 400 square foot den area, in December 2012, in three days. He had one other assistant helping him. They vacuumed the floor first, and broke up old tile, under the pot belly stove fire place, and moved the stove outside. They made sure the floor was clear and clean, before starting the job. The tile was 6 by 24 inch, ceramic, wood looking planks. Each plank row was staggered to look like real wood. They made many adjustments and cuts to the planks, as needed. The layout was beautiful.

The cement in our den was put in the 1960's, so it was very low, in two corners. Louie put a lot of cement under the tile, on various areas of the floor. Everyone that has seen our tile thinks it is wood. I picked an earth looking grout for between the planks, and he mixed it with a sealer, so the grout would not have to be sealed later. We did not have the floor re-cemented first to be completely perfect, but I like it because it looks good, and natural. Everyone that has seen the den loves the floor!! The cost of the job was $1,300.00 including all materials. i bought the tile.

The second job was two bathrooms, to be tiled, with ceramic planks. Louie did not know what was under the floors, so he warned me it may cost $50.00 to $100.00 more, if the floors were really bad. The job was $900.00 for both bathrooms. Both bathrooms, the floor boards were nailed down, so the wood was very stable, cement was put down, and a 100% Hardibacker was laid on top of the wood. (The Hardibacker is 100% waterproof). Last, the tile was laid, staggered. Different planks had to be cut, as needed. The cuts were near perfect. The bathroom planks look perfect, shapes, sizes, and positions. Everything looks great. People think we have real wood in our bathrooms.

The second bathroom had an area that was terrible, with patches, and wood pieces nailed on wood pieces, newspaper patches. The floor was sunken in, in places. it took Louie a half day extra to fix the area by the toilet--only. He felt the rest of the floor did not need to be torn out. (Added new wood, plumbing, toilet valve, waterline, wax ring, bolts.) Both bathroom floors have no leaks by toilets, and are completely firm and straight to walk on. It is so nice!!

Louie will be coming back to do all of our molding March 2013, and in the future , the upper level of the den and next the kitchen.
