New Era Contracting

I CONTACTED NEW ERA TO REFINISH MY KITCHEN COUNTERTOPS. WHILE THEY WERE HERE GIVING ME AN ESTIMATE FOR THAT JOB WE DISCUSSED THE ATTIC REMODEL UPSTAIRS. MR. HINDMAN OF NEW ERA CLAIMED THAT WAS EXACTLY THE KIND OF WORK THEY DID AND ASKED IF THEY COULD WORK UP A QUOTE. THIS SPACE WAS INTENDED FOR OUR SPECIAL NEEDS SON SO THAT HE COULD LIVE INDEPENDENTLY BUT STILL BE UNDER OUR ROOF. SINCE NEW ERA CONTRACTING WAS LISTED ON ANGI'S LIST WE BELIEVED THEY HAD BEEN VETTED AND SIGNED A CONTRACT. THE CONTRACT STATED THAT ALL WORK WOULD BE COMPLETED FOR $84,600. MOVING ALL MY SON'S FURNITURE AND PERSONAL BELONGINGS TO STORAGE WAS PART OF THE QUOTED COST. STARTING ON AUGUST 3, 2022 MR. HINDMAN MOVED EVERYTHING - HE WILL NOT GIVE ME ACCESS TO IT NOR WILL HE TELL ME WHERE IT IS. WHEN I OFFERED TO TAKE OVER THE COST OF THE STORAGE UNIT MRS. VICTORIA HIMDMAN TOLD ME I WOULD HAVE TO MOVE EVERYTHING TO A DIFFERENT FACILITY. I HAD QUESTIONS WHICH SHE WOULD NOT ANSWER REFERING ME TO MR. HINDMAN. BUT MR. HINDMAN DOES NOT ANSWER MY PHONECALLS, TEXTS OR EMAILS. MY SON'S BELONGINGS HAVE BASICALLY BEEN STOLEN. WE PAID MR. HINDMAN $22,683.59 IN START UP COSTS AND THEN PAID HIM WEEKLY FOR LABOR AND MATERIALS. THE CONTRACT STATED THAT IF NEW ERA DID NOT COMPLETE THE JOB FOR THE $84, 600 THE REMAINING WORK WOULD BE COMPLETED AT THEIR EXPENSE. ON NOVEMBER 3, 2022 I WROTE A CHECK WHICH BROUGHT THE TOTAL I HAD PAID TO $84,183.78 BUT I HAD ALSO GIVEN HIM A CHECK FOR $5000 AS A DOWNPAYMENT FOR SOLAR PANELS. THIS MADE THE TOTAL $89,183.78. ON NOVEMBER 7, 2022 I RECEIVED A PHONE CALL FROM VICTORIA HINDMAN STATING THAT EVERYONE HAD COVID 19 AND SHE DIDN'T KNOW WHEN THEY WOULD BE BACK. BY THE MIDDLE OF DECEMBER I HAD NOT SEEN OR SPOKEN TO ANYONE. I NEEDED SOME OF MY SON'S WINTER CLOTHES. THEY WOULD NOT ANSWER ANY OF MY ATTEMPTS AT COMMUNICATION UNTIL I THREATENED TO CALL THE POLICE AND HAVE MR HINDMAN CHARGED WITH THE THEFT OF MY SON'S BELONGINGS. HE STILL WOULD NOT GIVE ME ACCESS. INSTEAD HE SENT ONE OF HIS MEN TO GO RIFLING THROUGH THE BOXES AND BRING ME ONES MARKED "CLOTHES". I CONTINUED TO NOT HEAR FROM ANYONE UNTIL JANUARY. AT THAT TIME MR. HINDMAN SENT A MAN IN TO HANG SHEETROCK. HE WORKED OFF AND ON FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS. THEN HE RESIGNED FROM NEW ERA - I DO NOT FEEL IT IS MY PLACE TO DISCUSS THE REASONS. AS OF THIS WRITING IT IS APRIL 3, 2023 AND I HAVE NOT SEEN OR HEARD FROM ANYONE. I DO NOT HAVE ANY OF MY SON'S BELONGINGS. HE HAS DOWN SYNDROME AND JUST DOES NOT UNDERSTAND WHY HE CAN'T HAVE HIS THINGS AND HIS "APARTMENT". HEARTBREAKING!!!!!! HVAC HAS BEEN PAID FOR BUT I DON'T HAVE IT. WE HAVE NO FLOORS, BATHROOM DOESN'T EVEN HAVE WALLS, NO KITCHENETTE, NONE OF THE WALLS ARE FINISHED, NO SKYLIGHTS, NO CEILING FANS, NO CLOSET, NO DOORS OR TRIM. ALL THIS HAS BEEN PAID FOR. BY THE WAY, THE KITCHEN COUNTERS ARE NOT DONE EITHER. ALSO, THERE IS MAJOR DAMAGE TO THE DOWNSTAIRS CEILINGS FROM WHEN THEY REINFORCED THE ATTIC FLOOR. ONE OF THEIR GUYS PUT THEIR FOOT THROUGH ONE CEILING. THESE ARE ALL GOING TO NEED TO BE FIXED.

New Era is fantastic. Not only did they do an outstanding job tiling my bathroom, replacing the toilet, and fixing my closet, they worked with my insurance company through multiple iterations of cost estimates. I didn’t have to convince the insurance adjuster about the extent of the damage - New Era took care of all that. What a relief! I should also note that New Era adjusted their schedule to perform the work as soon as possible since my wife just had back surgery and we really needed the bathroom and closet repair work done quickly. The quality of the work was outstanding and the workers were on time, professional and personable. If you need any repair work done in your home, you can’t go wrong with New Era.

New Era did a fantastic job with our bathroom. This is the second bathroom they have done for us and I would hire them again. They are wonderful to work with and they have excellent communication with their customers.

The quality of work was fine. I like the way they communicate and update me what was going on. One thing I don't like was they did not protect my cabinet, curtains and the kitchen sink like they should have. They could've been a lot more protective of the cabinets and the curtains it makes a lot of dust. The floor is gorgeous. They were skilled in what they do.

I am very blessed to have found New Era Contracting! David and his team have done an amazing job with everything they’ve installed and fixed in my home. They’ve installed tile, hardwood floors, fixed garage doors, added support in my attic, fixed concrete issues, painted, etc. If you have any home issues that need to be fixed and/or want upgrades/remodeling they are reliable, professional, honest, and truly take amazing care of their customers!

New Era provided an amazing experience. Their team managed the work details with my insurance company so I didn’t have to deal with them. I had Sheetrock replacement, new flooring, wall paint and cabinet paint. Each team supervisor communicated with me daily as did the project manager to ensure full transparency and expectations. These guys do amazing work. We have hired them to do another bathroom and we will hire them to remodel our kitchen as well.

Excellent!!! They were all very nice, polite, attentive to my desires, and professional. I liked them so much that I have them coming back to redo my bathrooms this summer.

The experience was awesome! The best, by far, general contractor I have ever been associated with. They were fast, friendly and honest. Most importantly, they did a great job and the pricing never changed and was not asked for in advance. I most highly recommend New Era Contracting.
