I paid them $10,800 and said they would originally have the work completed by February 2014. All of a sudden, they left with the work undone. There were parts of the siding that still had concrete on it. They destroyed the part that was damaged and I'm stuck with old concrete siding that is cracked and dangerous. Initially they kept pushing back the date until they eventually stopped corresponding with me. Since then, I have called several times to get them to come out and complete the work and now they won't even return my calls. I would like them to come out and complete the work that I paid for.

Initially we changed what we were doing. So a delay was warranted but we never got the work finished. They kept having project managers leave and the materials were always wrong and we had to reorder to get the right material came.

I Signed a contract Apr 12, 2013 and they did not provide service until Nov 12, 2013. The last day of work was Dec.22,2013 due to lack of materials for the job. There has been no further work on my kitchen since that date. Since that day I found a crack on the counter top ,still needed edges on all the counters, two drawer inserts . After several calls to the company on January 3, 2014 they asked me to send them pictures of unfinished work and crack in the counter which I did. Feb. 18, 2014 they called to say they ordered the materials to complete the job. March 13,,2014 the wrong materials were delivered. I spoke with office March 26 they stated new materials were ordered ,but could not give me a start date. I was told the installer would call me and schedule, but that never happened. After several calls to the company I received a call on April 8, 2014 stating they just ordered materials for the job. I THOUGHT THEY ORDERED THEM FEB. 14.... Since that date there are 2 more issues .. a screw head popped through another section of the counter and 2 sections of the wood have developed ripples..I notified them of these new issues also. I was told the installer would call and go over everything with me.

An email I sent Pittsburgh Exteriors last week: Pittsburgh Exteriors: Over 8 months ago I completed payment on a roof replacement and venting per a contract between Pittsburgh Exteriors and me. This represented one job for Pittsburgh Exteriors, and almost an entire summer's wages for me. I believe I did all I was supposed to: I got three bids; I read many recommendations from Angie's List, I contracted local. I even fed the roofers. 8 months later, I look at my roof and in my attic and I see unfinished and sub-standard work that Kevin promised would be corrected over six months ago. The flashing on the side roof does not meet at all points; the front porch roof is bowed (and worsening with the weight of snow); the gutter on the front roof is sagging on one side; and the bathroom venting in the attic looks like a second-grade science project. I was patient with the initial service when, after being sold on the idea that the company uses an appropriate number of fully vetted roofers, only two were hired (and one laborer worked a half day). I cooperated when the corrections did not occur at first because of workers' injuries, workloads, etc. I chose not to complain on Angie's List. But after many phone calls and empty promises, I would like some action. I intend to hire a roof inspector to point out any and all repair and replacement issues that should have been covered under the contract, some of which were pointed out to Kevin on the final walk through, and to the office staff after Kevin's notes apparently didn't get communicated to them. It's time to finish the work I paid for, before the spring and summer new contracts take precedence. There can be no question this is what Pittsburgh Exteriors owes me.

It went wonderful. The young man that the company sent was such a professional he did a excellent job. He did the job in a matter of days, he was very efficient, and very polite. My kitchen cabinets look beautiful I couldn't be any happier. No one can tell my cabinets have been refaced they look original.

Pittsburgh Exteriors installed Alside vinyl cedar siding at the top half of our 85 year old house. Kevin gave the best price of several other contractors. Once we signed the contract it took several months to get the job started. I was not happy about that. He gave us a price discount for our frustration.
Kevin is a personable man who worked with us on a couple of installation problems to our satisfaction. I feel that he is trying to please his customers. The installation crew were sub-contractors. They were a very nice bunch of guys who were easy to work with and did a great job of cleaning up. Our house looks great.

Usual high pressure "sign today only" discount on sales call; was told and promised things that were not true or not lived up to; company flying by seat of their pants with extremely poor internal communication and coordination; very poor customer interaction, except at very beginning and when time to pay (go figure); owner very quick to blame employees, instead of taking responsibility for many, many problems during job; work done by very poor and unprofessional SUBcontractors who were sent out without instructions (no knowledge of work contract details), lack of needed materials, or necessary tools to do professional job; subs tried to take shortcuts and suggested changes to hasten job; many mistakes made (esthetics) that were covered over(attempted to hide) instead of replacing or redoing; work not completed on time (as per contract), though promised many times by 3 or more company members, including owner; no accommadation offered for not meeting deadline or shody work;

AVOID THIS COMPANY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We had an absolutely terrible experience with Pittsburgh Exteriors (PE) and we recommend that you do not do business with this company. Avoid it at all costs! What looked to be a promising transaction with an ?A?-rated company in Angie?s List has been fraught with delay, excuses, phone calls and frustration. We received a very competitive bid from PE and were excited about the vinyl siding product for our home. We were covering our old cedar siding with 7? Allside Prodigy siding. Due to the thickness of the siding, our windows also needed to be built out with 2x4?s and covered in aluminum flashing. We made the initial deposit in mid-March and were told installation would take 2-3 weeks after the siding arrived. The siding was expected to take 3-4 weeks for delivery, so all in, we are looking at a six-to-seven weeks? time frame (i.e. completion by mid-May at the latest).

What should have been a straight forward siding job took 6 months! From initial payment to final touch up repairs lasted from March to until mid-September. The first ?crew? consisted of only one installer. While we did not know it at the time, the type of siding we chose is best installed with at least two workers given the intensity and frequency of the miter work that is required. There were some days when this first installer just did not show up. After a phone call to find out why the work was not progressing, we were told the installer ?just left? the job and never came back. Following his exit, we had to wait for another crew. This next crew was a little better, but the installation was still slow. I do give them credit in that the weather was sometimes rainy and did cause some delays.

I requested that the manager inspect the job before I made final payment. He and I noticed a few areas that needed to be touched up. I was assured that someone would be out shortly. At this meeting, the manager gave us a discount to help make up for the troubles we had earlier. He apologized profusely and said he took ?full responsibility? for the way we had been treated. I thought the meeting ended on a somewhat positive note. Unfortunately, it was not to be. It took over 5 weeks and at least 3 phone calls before an installer came to make the final repairs. In a not so funny twist of fate, the installer who came to do the final repairs was the original installer who walked off the job. Part of the delay was because I needed to send PE a color sample of my rainspout that was to be replaced, however it still required action on my part with 3 phone calls to get the job completed. On the last call, again, the manager repeatedly apologized and told us it was his fault for not following up and ?he takes full responsibility?. Sorry, but we don?t believe you anymore. One of the issues that was throughout the entire project, the manager never came to inspect the job site. If he had, he would likely have known about the first installer and the slower pace of the second crew. His lack of follow up also affected the difficulty with getting someone to do the touch up repairs. I also had to make repeated calls to have equipment removed from our yard that was left there for several months after the first installer abruptly walked off the job. I will credit the company for giving us a discount to help make up for all of the headaches, however it does not remove the t**** from this long drawn out bad experience. We feel as though the job would have taken even longer had we not made repeated calls and complaints. PE is a company to be avoided.
Everything went as smooth as possible. The work was started ahead of schedule and they were on time when the work started. The siding was put up quickly and the work was done perfectly. Bob was super professional and friendly. When the job was complete I did not have to clean up after him at all. Most contractors Ive dealt with leave a mess behind but not Bob. I could not be happier for the price and service provided.
Pittsburgh Exteriors has been a nightmare to deal with since the beginning of my "deal". Quick to schedule an appointment to come out to the house and get a contract signed, the owner Kevin never showed his face again. And from there, the lack of responsiveness and long, long waits began. At the point of signing, I was told it would be six weeks for my job to start. This was March 2012. The work did not start until August 2012, but only after many months of having to consistently phone the company myself repeatedly. At one point I even showed up in person in order to get them to respond!

As of September 2013, there are huge faults with the work that eventually was done on my kitchen, and I continue to be frustrated by the lack of responsiveness and shoddy business practices of this company. Here is where my incomplete kitchen stands today:

The company's latest new manager has confirmed that:
The entire kitchen floor must be taken up and re-tiled; it was done improperly from the start.
The custom roll-out drawer has to be completely removed and correctly installed with proper hardware; it collapsed two months after installation and remains unusable.
An entire facing wall of Formica has cracked and must be replaced.
All the wood trim has to be removed and replaced; it was cut incorrectly and gaping joins were left.
A drawer handle that was never installed must be put on (after a year of attempting to get this done).
The custom-built rolling island has an unfinished drawer.
One corner cabinet was installed with a piece chipped away from the bottom and must be repaired.

As for the owner, Kevin? I finally phoned him and had a firm yet polite conversation with him about all the issues with the work and lack of responsiveness. He promised me his manager would phone; Kevin himself refused my request to come out and see the workmanship I was complaining about. Guess what? After two weeks, no phone call! When I phoned Kevin back, he denied ever having spoken with me!!! It only took my stating the date, time, and content of that phone call for Kevin to say "Oh, I remember now...". And then, another story of yet another new manager, and how busy they are... So, the new Manager has been out, and promised to call, and hasn't...

We called Kevin multiple times before finally getting the contractor (actually a sub-contractor) to finally show up on July 15th. It was obvious right away that this sub-contractor was not adequately trained to reface cabinets. By day 5 (when everything was supposed to be completed) the kitchen was in shambles with only about 1/2 the refacing done. This sub-contractor continued to work to complete what he was capable of doing, constantly apologizing for his lack of training. Week 3 - Finally, an actual Pgh Ext contractor came to finish the cabinet refacing. Week 4 - The sub-contractor installed most of the new cabinet doors and disassembled our bathroom cabinets. Week 5 - The sub-contractor had completed what he could and was finished. Multiple phone calls to Kevin... The actual Pgh Ext contractor was supposed to complete the rest of the work, but apparently had quit. Another sub-contractor completed most of the kitchen, but by now we have decided we are NOT having the bathrooms done since we couldn't go 5 weeks with both bathrooms taken apart. This is now Week 8 and we are still waiting on the turn-around shelf, stops on all the cabinets, and the undercabinet lighting!!!

We have been patient up to this point, but right now just can't believe what we've been through. I still have kitchen supplies in my living room!

THIS HAS BEEN A CONTRACTOR NIGHTMARE!!

11/14/13 - My kitchen is finally complete. Kevin also adjusted our final payment to reflect all of our difficulties. Therefore, I am revising my grade.

I bought a rental house in June and was about ready to rent it when my insurance carrier notified me that they would drop coverage if the Insulbrick siding was not covered. I had 10 days to get the work done or they would cancel the policy. Panicked, I called everyone I could from Angie's List and got bids from 6 companies ranging from $10,000 (highway robbery) to $2,900. Pittsburgh Exteriors was not only the lowest bid, but they were able to put a crew on the job the very next day.
The owner and the installer met me at the house at 7:30am where we signed the paperwork and settled up. The installer started right away and was done by early evening. The installer called to tell me the work was done and everything was cleaned up.
Neighbors keep stopping by to tell me how much better the siding makes the street look so much better. This was a great experience.
We signed a contract with Pittsburgh Exteriors in February 2013 to replace the shingles, ridge vents and a few rotted sheets of plywood. It was understood that work could not begin until spring. 6 months later and numerous calls we still didn't have a roof. It wasn't until we called to cancel and request the return of our deposit did Pittsburgh Exteriors arrive and do the work.
The roof leaked during the first rain. We called and someone came the next day. He informed us that the contractor remodeling the bathroom moved or bumped the exhaust vent which caused the leak. Two days later it rained and the roof leaked again in the same spot . What exactly did this guy do when he was on the roof ???
The contractor remodeling the bathroom went up on the roof and said the vent was not sealed correctly and the 'splash ring' needed fixed. I had the bathroom contractor fix everything. I then asked the bathroom contractor to look at other parts of the roof. He said installation of the new ridge vents was not that good but probably would not leak.
Next day it's raining again. Bathroom contractor comes to work on the bathroom and says the rain gutter isn't catching the water from the roof. I call Pittsburgh Exteriors and ask them to come fix the gutter. The person I talked to indicated no one was in the area to come fix it. He said its probably just a joint in the gutter leaking and I could fix it myself ! So, I again asked the bathroom contractor to please look at the gutter. He said the gutter was not attached and the water was running between the edge of the roof and the gutter. The bathroom contractor once again repaired an item Pittsburgh Exteriors should never have let happen in the first place.
I can not recommend this company.
They came to the house and gave us their estimate. they were very nice, very professional. They even were able to match the price of a previous competitor. They told me they would let us know when the siding, etc were in so they could deliver them. It took a few weeks for the siding to come in and they put us on the list for completing the work. Unfortunately their installer got sick and couldnt work for a few weeks. They called us to keep us informed. They kept us upraised of the situation and these things happen. they seemed more upset about him being able to work than we were. When they did start they finished very quickly and cleaned up after themselves really well. It looks amazing.
They had only finished 1/2 of one side of the job before I had to call the owner. He talked me into letting them finish the job. This was a bad idea - they had to come out 7 different times to fix it. Even still, the siding was falling off of my house. This influenced our decision to eventually move from the house. If a company's work forces you to move - that should tell you something.

In fact, we sent out different installers who have years and years of experience to settle her complaints. She was satisfied with the outcome and this review is an over exaggeration of how things went. We would of fixed anything she wanted and sometimes you just can't please everyone. Owner Beware!
In 2012 Pgh. Exteriors was chosen as our
contractor to replace our roof, siding, soffit & fascia, and gutters. We
also hired them to remove a 6 ft. sliding glass door and install a 9ft sliding
glass door in its place. From start to finish the process was frustrating and
disappointing. Box vents for the roof were installed at the peak instead of at
the bottom as requested and had to be moved, caulking was incomplete causing
leaks behind our new siding and into our attic eventually onto our bathroom
light fixture (Luckily the GFI tripped!). Gutters were reinstalled because of
the pitch as water pooled at the opposite end of the downspout numerous times.
We had to use a garden hose to prove it. Sliding glass door was installed with
a 4 inch high thresh hold causing a tripping hazard. As winter approached cold
air seeped into our game room from around our new door because not only did
they not replace the insulation that existed but didn?t insulate the area at all.
Some issues were addressed immediately, other times we called repeatedly for
weeks and even months at a time with no response. After contacting our
insurance company and the Better Business Bureau, Kevin offered to send guys
back to look at our door and gutter issues that we have been calling about. At
that point one must reflect and ask, ?Do we really want that company doing any
more to our house?? We declined Kevin?s offer and will resolve the remaining
issues on our own. (Husband already insulated around the sliding glass door and
applied caulking to all the holes in the gutters from them being moved.) We
will use Angie?s List as we try to find our next contractor.

Response from New House Worx
"As General Mgr. and owner, I personally tried over and over again to fix issues that were not related to the work we contracted. The house was built terribly, and there are many many issues that need to be addressed other than a leaky gutter. The roof was leaking before we started because of a contractor who had no idea what he was doing. When working on homes that were built poorly, it is hard to fix all issues with the dollar amount the contract was sold for. We, as a loyal company to our customers, bent over backwards to fix any issue this customer had. We went to this house over 15 times to rectify problems. Everytime we fixed one, another arose. We again went back and back again. We take pride in all we do. I even offered to put free gutter guard on to eliminate water going behind the gutter. This was refused for some reason which I don't know. We, as a company, lost money fixing existing problems that weren't ours. We do this because we want everyone to be satisfied. I believe in "customers are always right," but there has to be a time where you realize you can't please everyone. We tried and tried with only more complaints. I have on record that we have called this customer over 50 times with a no response of over 80%. We have thousands of satisfied customers, and we don't want any of our customers to be dissatisfied. Our installers are of the highest quality - check out our reviews. They are that good. I am sorry this customer is not satisfied, but I can only do what they will let us. Again, the house was built very poorly and they let us know that up front. We will still do what we can if this customer wants. If there are any problems with the work that was contracted with us, our lifetime warranty remains in effect and will cover this."
