New Life Painting

I'm 76 years old and last year was hit by a drunk driver causing me to have limited range of movement and strength issues. So after deciding I wasn't going to be able to paint my home myself I decided to hire a contractor. New Life Painting was referred to me by Angie's List and along with 2 other contractors for painting my house. All came with a 5 star rating. After a meeting with the first two and getting their prices I met with Ray Cimino of New Life Painting. His price was better than the other two and he could accommodate me in my time frame. He would charge me for labor and I would pay for supplies for which he could get me a discount . We struck a deal and he promised to have a contract in my hand when he and his crew arrived the following week. I have yet to receive a contract from him and and even after many texts and phone calls where he has said he would bring one along with a "paid in full invoice" I still have nothing from him even though I've paid him in full. Our original agreement was for my house, meaning the body of the house, 3 doors, and 10 shutters to be painted. (We later added the soffits, gutters/downspouts and window sashes painted white.) Also part of the project was my fence stained white with an opaque stain, my shed painted (same color as the house) and my deck stained a dark brown. I specifically pointed out that I wanted the flowers around the deck covered to protect them and also my front steps and pavers as I had just had them stripped and sealed with a gloss finish sealer. The good of this story is that everything that was supposed to be painted got painted...sort of. While the house itself, along with the deck, fence and shed were all painted the right colors...In the process Ray Cimino's crew failed to cover my flowers and pavers and splattered paint on them. The over-spray from their paint guns was so heavy that it painted my metal roof and even after they pressure washed it it's still not right. My flowers were sprayed with deck stain and my pavers left speckled with white and brown house paint. In places where they tried to clean it up, left smudges and discolored blotches. They did paint my soffits but they used rollers and painted the vents shut costing me $900 to replace them. They did try to pressure wash the paint off the soffits but only caused my front door frame to swell so much that I couldn't open it for almost a month.They painted my gutters and downspouts right over dirt and grass using leftover fence stain ( Sherwin-Williams). I contacted the Sherwin-Williams store where Ray bought the paint for my home and was informed by one of their service techs that fence stain should never be used on metal and will fail much sooner than a proper paint for gutters will. As I said before,Ray's paint crew also failed to cover my pavers and steps and where they tried to clean the paint off left white smudge marks and other discolored spots costing me another $400 to have stripped again and resealed. Also I discovered much too late that not only had his crew painted my window sashes but the frames and runners that the windows slide up and down in as well..they had painted my windows shut . Ray came to me asking for the balance on the project telling me that he didn't have the money to pay his guys if I didn't give it to him and that the "Up charges for the few extras that was added which I was told would only be a "couple of hundred dollars" was now $2100 but he would do me a favor and bring it down to $1900. (granted part of that $1900 was applying a second coat of stain to my fence but that only took a couple of hours and a couple of guys and at the $20 an hour he told me he was paying his guys doesn't come near $1900) He assured me that if I found anything that needed to be corrected just call him and he'd be back to take care of it because " he REALLY wanted me to be happy with his service". My review is not in chronological order and many of the things I've listed as being wrong I only discovered after I had paid him. Anyone reading this might think " You should have been more diligent and kept a better eye on your project". You are right but in my defense I've gotten other contractors from Angie's List and they did great work with no problems...and as I said before they came with a 5 star rating. I made the mistake of assuming Ray would be overseeing his crew but Ray was rarely at my home to supervise his crew and never actually worked on my house. He would leave his guys off in the morning and only return to pick them up leaving them to fend for themselves. Many times during my project I had to lend his crew my tools to do one thing or another because they were not equipped properly and didn't have a vehicle to go get whatever they needed including lunch and bathroom breaks. Looking back his price wasn't so good after all.

Ray and the team did a great job on our project. Ray always replied promptly, was upfront on scheduling and completed the job as promised. Ray went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with the stain stripping process and patiently worked with us to trial 4 stain colors before finding the perfect product for the re-staining work. The crew was careful not to cause unnecessary damage and always cleaned up at the end of each day. The stripping work was very labor intensive, but the crew stuck with it, and we are very happy with the finished product. Our log home is 'beautiful' again. We would highly recommend Ray and his team. Thanks guys!

Nobody does it better than Ray Cimino and his talented crew. He delivered everything as promised. Ray is an honest, down to earth fellow that takes pride in his work, offers a fair price, and communicates well. He went the extra mile for me and I expect he does it for others. All my future projects will go to Ray.

New Life got back to me when no one else did. It was a small job and not a big money maker. Ray helped me out and the job was done within a week. I am so grateful and would use them again.

Ray and his crew did a very nice job with exterior cleaning and exterior staining and trim prep & painting of a lake cottage and garage. Very timely, good communication, easy to work with. Wife was very pleased with result.

Ray and his crew did an excellent job on the exterior painting. They also repaired 2 window sills and the porch overhang while adding insulation as well. Ray is an honest, integral man that wants to make sure you are happy when the job is done. Not only would I recommend Ray to everyone, I also would recommend people call Ray for estimates on other projects and even the stuff he does not do. He will give his honest opinion and even recommend a few people to use. He is one of those guys it's good to know and be able to call anytime you need something. In short....Hire this guy!!

Ray and his team did a great job with our interior - it was a huge project including ceilings that were in terrible shape. Very nice and reliable group and I would hire again.

Ray and his team of three workers came in and did the work very professionally. The work of removing the wallpaper and painting was meticulously done with making sure the kitchen cabinets and appliances were not damaged or paint left on them. His team works well together and helps in getting the job done right.

1860 house that was in dire need of a facelift. I took a chance on New Life Painting and I am glad that I did. it is refreshing to finally find a contractor who actually believes in customer satisfaction, pride in their workmanship and they go the extra mile to make sure that everything that needs to be done is done. Ray and his crew work as a team and they are good at what they do and are very open to discuss the work with the customer. When the job was completed Ray asked that my wife and I go around the house and look at it carefully and if we find anything that needs a touch up to give him a call. My daughter came to look at the house and saw something even we missed. I called Ray, he answered his phone right away and said he would take care of it. We am impressed with this company. Thank you for all of your hard work our house looks awesome.

Ray and his guys did a great job on my home. They begain by power washing the house, scrapped all the loose paint, caulking where needed to be caulked and even replaced some of the bad siding the contractor before them missed. It took several days to complete the job and were here two weeks as I added other jobs along the way. Ray spray painted the whole house first then the guys went to work on the trim and windows. Then they went back to look for anything missed and touched up. I had the guys replace bad boards on my deck and they stained the deck to match the color of the trex I had them put on the bottom deck. Spot on! I also had them replace some plumbing and lastly one of my main beams in the garage cracked and even though they were done with my job Ray responded right away and the guys came over repairing the problem. Very pleased with the workmanship, attention to detail and overall they made sure when they left we were satisfied. Work was top notch and prices very very reasonable. Would hire again and highly recommend them. Thanks to Ray and his crew!

Ray was quick to respond to my inquiry and set up an appt. to come check out the job. The day he came, he gave me a written quote. I obtained other quotes but felt New Life was my best choice. He uses Sherwin Williams paint, which was our preference. He and his crew came when they said they would come, and frequently made sure I approved their progress each day, which has never happened with any other contractor. They cleaned up the job site each night so everything was tidy. At the end of the job Ray walked me around the house to be sure the job was satisfactory…and it was better than that! They found and repaired wood along they way, and we added a pool deck and house deck sealing to the job with no problem for a very fair cost. I would recommend Ray and New Life without hesitation as the job they did was fantastic and now we can enjoy our new looking house! I would use them again in a heartbeat.

Ray was the first to respond to my initial inquiry and he responded quickly. He gave us an estimate right away with a very fair quote. Ray and his crew were very polite and willing to work with us in whatever ways we wished. They were able to make all of the repairs we needed and did an excellent job. They kept their equipment picked up at the end of each work day. They made sure that we were satisfied with their work and asked frequently if we were happy with the job they were doing. Overall, it was an excellent experience working with Ray and his crew. I would recommend his services to anyone in need of exterior painting.

Ray and his crew were wonderful! They went above and beyond for us and the house looks wonderful. Our neighbor across the street hired them after seeing the great job they did for her entire house and a few others also hired them for various work.

Ray, the owner, showed up on time, and walked around with me to see what work needed to be done. He explained that he would pressure wash all of the surfaces before staining them. We discussed stain color and Ray recommended a solid stain instead of the semi transparent that was used previously. Ray showed up on time for the pressure washing and the staining. They were respectful of the property and very neat! The stain(Ray matched the color perfectly) looks fabulous. They did a great job, and I will use them for future projects. I'm glad to recommend them to anyone looking for quality painting at reasonable rates!

Ray and his crew were very responsive - contacted me shortly after I submitted the job request and were very punctual. Ray personally oversaw the work, explained the scope of work thoroughly, and he and his people did an excellent job. They also finished on time and at a very reasonable price.
