Found Nick’s Home Remodeling through the Tile Shop in Naperville. We met with Nick and found him to be very easy to talk with and communicate what our ideas were. He offered some great additional thoughts based on his past experience remodeling bathrooms. His proposal for labor stated clearly what his responsibility would be and what ours would be. He offered estimate ranges for materials which was helpful to estimate the entire cost of the project. Of course material prices can vary greatly depending on your choices. Nick has relationships with various trades and suppliers which is very helpful. When his crew began the job, they were very conscientious and cleaned up after themselves each day. Nick kept us informed as to their schedule and when/who would be there each day. Nick, Gabriel, Jose and Mike did a fantastic job from start to finish. They all are professionals who obviously take pride in their work. Over the course of approximately 3 ½ weeks, and maybe 14 total work days, they transformed our 1980’s master bath into a beautiful spa bathroom. Nick provides receipts for any materials he purchases during the work, which he also estimates on his proposal. We had a few extras (like removing soffits) during the course of construction that hadn’t been planned for initially. He provides a summary of any additional charges for his crew doing the extra work. We felt he was fair in that pricing. You can expect to pay for those materials and extra work above the proposal amount in addition to the materials you purchase yourself. Of course, during that construction, we used our hall bath which quickly became the object of dreams for its renovation. As it turned out, we had materials left over from the master and were able to have Nick update that hall bath with not a lot of extra cost for materials. That update took only about a week as we weren’t moving anything around, just replacing fixtures and tile. Again, it turned out great! To summarize – Nick provides the labor to tear out the old and replace with the new. You pay for all materials and any extra work not noted on the proposal. His proposals appear to be fairly standard for typical work on similar projects he has done with any variations accounted for either in the proposal if known at the time, or at the end of the project. Nick has remodeled two of our bathrooms, and both remodels went very well. The bathrooms look great! We felt very confident having Nick and his crew in our home, whether we were here or not (and they put up with our nosy cat and big old dog). We will hire Nick again when we remodel our 1/2 bath.

Nick was great to work with. He was willing to work with us on price as I had already started the project and needed someone to take it over and finish it and he did a fantastic job. I will definitely plan to use him when we do our next bathroom remodel. He handled the ordering of the stone tile and ordered exactly what we needed.

Nick and his team did an amazing job on our multi-room major remodeling project (including an entire kitchen make-over). Tiling, hardwood flooring, lighting, drywalling... there isn't anything he and his small team can't tackle. They are awesome and always gave us an full days work. Nick is honest, conscientious, and has a great work ethic. There were no middle-man charges for bringing in his favorite cabinet maker, Bryan (of Zelensek & Sons). These two are perfectionists and were fun to work with to make our more unique ideas a reality. Nick used other personal contacts to get us the best deals on tiling and also on our countertops. We're extremely pleased with the final results; I'm sure we will be using him again as we continue to upgrade.

We could not be happier with the results. From the start we were impressed with Nick and his team. They pointed out big problems with our original plan that all the other contractors we spoke to missed and we worked together to transform the basement into a beautiful space while still retaining a large amount of storage space. Nick brought excellent ideas from his experience and provided options for us to choose from. He caught details we overlooked and helped us avoid mistakes. The crew was knowledgeable, courteous, professional, and hard working. What I appreciated most was how attentive they were to our project. There were no delays and everything ended up on time and on budget which is so rare these days. Plus they are just a pleasure to work with. Nick and his crew were true professionals. His proposals were fair, he was always punctual, he kept the work space very clean, and the end product was top notch. He had excellent resources as well like a custom cabinetmaker, countertop, and plumbing source. He was willing to work with me to complete my vision and it turned out exactly how I wanted it. He also has an excellent personality and I would hire him again on any project.

Nick and his team were fantastic! They blew away our expectations. Nick’s recommendations were always helpful and spot on for what we wanted. He was very responsive to any requests and questions, even on the weekends. His estimate was accurate, and he did his best to help us save money on materials wherever we could. One of the things we appreciate the most is how trustworthy Nick and his guys are. When you invite people into your home on a daily basis, you want to feel comfortable having them there. We had the absolute pleasure of working with Nick Martinez on a master bathroom with a steam shower remodel project. We would most definitely use him again and would highly recommend him to anyone considering a project. Background We had been planning this project for a few years. We spoke to no less than 5 contractors over that period of time. The first three contractors were turn-key, full-service design firms. It was uncanny how close those three companies came on price quotes (more on that later) and that the price was in the range of a new sports car. While these companies offer nice showrooms and hand-holding through the process, we felt that we had a pretty clear idea on what we wanted. We decided to look more at an “a la carte” approach – where we pick the design and materials and sperate contractor to handle the installation. We had two contractors – Nick and another - offer a price that was exactly the same – to the penny. (Turns out they all subscribe to a database for estimates that uses project scope, square footage, and address to estimate a price. That’s why all of the contractors were close in pricing.) We decided to go with Nick for these reasons: - Portfolio of similar projects. His showcase of projects is excellent and similar to what we wanted. - Great references. His references raved about him and one even invited us to their house to see the work. - Superior knowledge. Nick obviously had a lot of experience and good ideas about our project. (I think he’s older than he looks.) He was also the only contractor that recognized that our steam shower would be 220 volts and required special wiring. - Included Painting. Every other contractor required that we handle the painting separately. - Wholesale pricing on materials. Nick was agnostic about where we bought materials. But he has relationships with local suppliers. Most contractors have you pick your materials and then pay the contractor. Nick had us work directly with the suppliers and pay the supplier – at his discounted wholesale rates. Some materials were more than 40% cheaper than retail. That was a huge unexpected saving on the overall project. We also used HomeDepot for some of the other basic materials. When the contract started, working with Nick and his team was a pleasure. An unexpected surprise was how he worked around our schedules. Nick arrived after we were done preparing for work. Then he would drape all of our furniture and carpeting to keep things clean. At the end of the day, Nick was usually done before we returned from work. All of his tools were moved out of the way and draped as well. Remodeling can be a huge inconvenience. Nick realized that we needed to live here and he worked hard to minimize the impact on our lives during construction. Another major factor in our satisfaction with Nick was that he had a lot of experience and ideas. He had suggestions about details that would really add to the projects appearance and usability. Minor details like slight slopes on sills so water would not pocket there, size and location of niches, penciling around tile edges, placement of lighting and shower fixtures, etc... And, because he was agnostic about the materials, we didn’t feel that he was trying to push us one way or another to more make money. We had some additional side projects that we were able to get done at the same time. We felt that his pricing was fair and reasonable for those scope changes. Nick also accepted mobile payment (Chase Zelle) which was convenient. There was one setback that had to do with one of the suppliers. They didn’t provide us with all of the right materials. The impact was that it set Nick back three days because materials needed to be special ordered before the project could proceed. Nick did not charge us for that delay. I think the way that he handled it was very professional. He even got the supplier to give us the extra materials ($600) for free because it was their mistake. We honestly felt that Nick had our best interest in mind. He’s called several times to check-in with us to see how things are going. We sincerely look forward to our next project with him. Things started out excellent. Very solid work on flooring, electric, plumbing, and drywall. Painting was a "B" grade with some splatter on surrounding areas. Cabinet installation was very complex but handled well. Countertop subcontractor got behind and slowed things down by a few days at the end. Also, toward the end some items got a bit sloppy (e.g. holes for drawer pulls were not always on center and had to be re-drilled). The crew missed some days--not always their fault (e.g. vehicle problems) but sometimes (e.g. partied a little too **** ** 4th of July and decided not to work the next day). Overall it was a good experience. No contractor is perfect but Nick was awfully good. Would hire again.

The whole project went well. Nick was able to provide great references for suppliers of the various materials/install needed for the project (e.g. tile, custom vanity, paint, quartz/granite, shower glass, fixtures, etc.), which all worked out well and we subsequently referred a supplier to a friend for another job (custom vanity). Nick was always responsive to questions and returned messages in a timely manner. He was always open to changes in design and honest about the impact to timing related to possible changes. Nick is also involved/on-site from day one, including the quote, demo, prep work, install, and finishing. It was good to have someone that was involved from the beginning to the end to ensure there were no mis-communications between multiple parties. We are extremely satisfied with the results and would hire Nick again, or refer him to anyone looking for a contractor.

Nick and his crew were a joy to work with. They were very professional and thorough. They transformed our basement into additional living space last summer. In addition to doing great work, Nick gave lots of helpful recommendations when we needed them. Nick and his crew came back this week to do a bunch of additional work for us - wiring and installing overhead lighting in some of our bedrooms, fixed a sink, patched some ceiling damage, installed a sliding patio door, and more. Nick will always be our “go to” when we need work done around our house. We highly recommend him and are so glad we found him on here!

Let me start by saying that I rated Nick's "Responsiveness" a "B", simply because we were originally on his schedule for November of 2107, but did not actually get work done until February, due to his very packed schedule. He took our deposit in November, to get us into his schedule, but due to unforeseen circumstances with other projects (and the Holidays), we could not coordinate ourselves until February. During that time, he was very good at communicating with us, and was very easy to get in touch with via email and/or text. In terms of the work, the tub/shower had already been reglazed/tiled, as had the tiles in the bathroom. Nick did everything else! He removed wallpaper from 1968, and subsequently re-dry walled much of the bathroom! He installed new laminate flooring, a new (and GIGANTIC, heavy) marble topped double vanity, which he had to move plumbing for. He also painted , put in new lighting, a new ceiling fan (with bluetooth), and hung two mirrors. He installed a new folding closet door, and painted the existing (brown) pocket door. All trim was painted white. He was wonderful to work with, and had the job done well in just 5 business days. We are very satisfied, and love knowing that should an issue arise with anything Nick did, he is just a text away, and will be happy to help. (I will do my best to upload photos later, as right now, I am failing in my attempts.) We will most certainly be working with him on our next bathroom project...

Work went good a few issues but Nick and his team took care of them without any delay.

Following an excellent experience with a master bath remodel last year, we recently engaged Nick for a second major project to “refresh” our kitchen (our wood floors had recently been refinished, so one goal was not to make any changes that would impact the floor). The project included re-facing/painting the existing cabinets and island; installing pullout drawers in the island cabinets; replacing the counters with granite; installing a new sink and garbage disposal; removing the existing tile backsplash and replacing it with new mosaic tile; replacing some outlets with integrated USB capability; painting as needed; and improving the lighting with new in ceiling recessed LED lighting. Nick also removed an existing kitchen desk and bookshelf area and replaced it with new bar cabinetry that blends with the rest of the kitchen and installed a wine cooler. As we experienced with the first project, Nick and his team work very efficiently; most of this project was done in less than two weeks. They do most of the work themselves and collaborate with quality suppliers for the granite fabrication and cabinet manufacturing. Workmanship is of excellent quality, with attention to the little details. Nick does a great job of communicating status and options and offering suggestions that improve the finished product. We were happy to be able to get on Nick’s busy schedule again and are thrilled to have a “new” kitchen that is brighter, more contemporary, and more functional.

Overall, very well. We are very happy with our new bathroom and have had friends and family compliment the work as well.

Surpassed my expectation. I called Nick for a quote on a total bathroom remodel and he actually called me back in a couple of hours. So often, you cant get anyone to call you back. Nick provided a very competitive quote with ideas on how I could enhance my total vision without breaking the budget. He showed up when promised and completed on time. Quality of workmanship was excellent!

Went great. They did the kid's bathroom and some other work- the entire family was very happy with the final product. The space seemed entirely new and impressive. Nick and his team are professional and work hard. They do most of the work, but also subcontract some of the work and it is also high quality and customized. Nick is fantastic at working out challenges and coming up with ideas using his experience, vision, and considering our needs and expectations. We used Nick's remodeling before for a bigger project, that was so good we called them up again. They are courteous, responsive, clean, and fun to work with, but also serious about getting it right. Our family recommends Nick and his crew.

We are really pleased with our new bathroom. Nick (and team) do a real nice job engaging with clients, walking through ideas and putting action into place. As the project moves along, he is good at keeping his clients informed on where they are, next steps and what to expect. Every project has challenges or unexpected situations, he is also good at formulating ideas or solutions to work around any challenges. I appreciate the teams humor and friendliness.

Nick's crew is very busy but he kept in touch during the wait and was very responsive with the schedule and arranging for me to order the tile and plumbing. The work took a little over two weeks and he kept me daily informed as to progress with the job. He likes to do the work right and goes the extra mile to satisfy the client. I couldn't have asked for better service or good results.
