Very good. Prompt, courteous service, willing to please. The railing looks clean and great. They had excellent responsiveness and readily printed out a receipt for me after the original was lost. I highly recommend them to others.

Excellent service. A representative came by to provide an estimate at the exact time she said she would, sat with me while I reviewed the many, many design selections, made constructive and helpful suggestions. The work was completed according to schedule and the quality is superb. The curb appeal resulting from these railings is phenomenal.
It went beautifully. The craftsmanship is superb. We had them come last year to replace our outside railing and they did such a wonderful job that we had them come back to do the inside.

The estimate and installation went well. The salesman was professional and the installers were good.

The price seemed reasonable to me and they (N & J IRONWORKS) came recommended so I did not get other estimates.

The railings looked great, AT FIRST.
When the owner came out (Nelson, I believe) to sell the project. I explained that I did not want to do maintenance for awhile on these, I asked him several times how long they would remain rust free.He assured me that the railings would remain Rust Free for at least 3 to 5 years. After that I would have to paint them, most likely annually.
Well less than a year after installation on 6/7/2013 I saw signs of some rust; within the year they looked like they had been on my house for 8 to 10 years. I called them several times. They told me that due to SANDY they had some problems with Rust issues? What that meant I'm not sure. The railings started to chip at this point I had called to get someone out to my home. The owner was away and not available So on Aug. 13, 2014 they finally came out to look at the problem. First it was the two workers and they confided in me that the touch up paint would not do it and that they did not have the right paint on their truck. The Owners Daughter was called. When she spoke to me she was very rude as though she was doing me a favor to sand parts of the railings because; YES there was that much RUST, than they touched up the paint. I asked what can we do about this. I was not satisfied with the product and I wanted them to make good on their product and installation. She proceeded to tell me I should have had the railings GALVANIZED that would make them rust resistant and would last much longer without rust. I explained to her that option was NEVER discussed when we planned the job? She proceeded to tell me it would cost me an additional $759.00. WHY they should repair the shoddy work for free or at least cost to them. We did not part best of friends but she would have Nelson (Owner) call me with a resolution.
I am still waiting for that resolution. I will get in touch with them again, I will make a report with the Better Business Burrow, I will
let all my friends and neighbors know through social medial.
THAT THIS VENDOR WILL NOT STAND BEHIND HIS WORK
I am waiting for a reply from him as to what will be done. I will wil update this review with reselution and photos of the shoddy repair.
This has been resolved to both of our satisfaction. He is coming back out to fix what he should have.
They finished five weeks from the date of service. They were very upfront and honest. They said what they were going to do and they came on time. They put it up and there were no problems. It went very smoothly. Their pricing was in the ballpark of what I wanted; it was average. I would absolutely use them again.

The person I hired (Joe) to do the cement step was here at the same as Nelson from N&J. He told him the dates he would start and finish the steps, approx. 2 ½ weeks before the railing had to be installed. Joe (the cement worker) told him the dates he would be finished. I then called Nelson to let him know the work was finished and he could come on the date he discussed with Joe. He was quite irritated with me at the time, and told me I had to give him a weeks notice before he had to come (he was told by Joe 3 weeks before he had to come, giving him ample notice.) He never told me that, and I assumed that when Joe told him the dates, that he was aware and would be there at that time. He told me it was an extra $1000 to have a powder coated railing that would not rust. I couldn’t afford that, and asked about the maintenance for a railing with no powder coating, which he told me they would touch up as needed, or I could do. He said it wasn’t much maintenance at all. This was in June, and winter passed, and now its spring and the entire railing has crackled and rusted and now needs to be replaced. I called them a few times, Nelson told me he would be here and not to worry and he would look at it. He then informed me that the railing is only guaranteed for 6 months, and then he said he would be out to look at it. He never made it out to look at the railing, I called several times to follow up and made an appointment with the secretary, as he told me to do, and he missed that one too. I have continued to try and contact them this past week, but still no response. I find it difficult to work with someone who changes the rules midway through the project. I would be happy to comply with whatever it was he needed me to do to help me complete the project, but he was always so busy when I tried to contact him. I wouldn’t use them again. I don’t think his work is quality work. I think a railing should last longer than 6 months (which is how long the railing was guaranteed for.)
Response from N & J IRONWORKS INC
"(Removed member name) call me about the problem with the railing on january 2014. I explain to mrs (Removed member name) i will take care the problem, i ask her if she can wait until summer time because during winter I can't do any treatment to the rails. She say ok no problem thank you.. then february-20-2014. i send my manager to check the railing and have an idea of what is happening so they can bring the right equipment to treat the railing.. I call (Remove member name) no answer.. N&J iron works always take care problems sometimes we may not be right away but we always do because is our responsibility to do it when our product is under the warranty. My father Nelson Zumba policy is to take care the problem even if is out of the warranty with out charge but this will be done when we are around the area or any chance we have."

All components of the project went well. We did get a call pushing us to install when the day was below freezing, when they previously indicated they never installed below freezing because it put the quality of the installation at risk. We asked them to wait, and when the installation was later done, it was seamless. The installers told us there were a couple of nicks in the paint (I didn't see them) and that they would be back next day to touch up.

Replaced front railings, installed new ones on the side entrance-way plus a new hand railing by the back steps. I am totally satisfied with all the work. The installers were very polite and answered any questions, they also were very neat and cleaned up when they were finished. A job well done.

Dayana and Nelson were thorough and professional. Dayana was prompt in measuring our stoop. Nelson together with Dayana at their office in Freeport explained all the options that were available. We brought a photo of a set of railings that we liked, and Nelson stated "he would make it better and more stylish". We have to agree, the railings are beautiful, and the installation workers were thorough and on time. Don't hesitate to do business with these people. They provided a great custom product at a reasonable price.
I had to search on Angie's List for a company to supply and install rod iron railings because we do not have this type of service in our area anymore. I was impressed by Nelson, the man who came to measure, and who I signed each contract with. So far we have used this company 2 times. I was also impressed by the workers who installed the railings and removed my old railings. The workers were respectful, competent, and performed a very neat job. They have many styles of rod iron railings to choose from ... we liked the style we chose very much ... with a scroll work design up top. The railings we chose from N & J Iron Works are so much nicer than what we originally had installed at our home ( by another company) 19 years ago. We will certainly use
N & J Iron Works again in the future. We also recommended them to do railings at my relative's home in Carle Place, NY.
Very professional! Dayana, owner' s daughter came and measured, then a few days later we went to the small showroom in Freeport. We were shown samples, colors, photos with the railings and made our selection.showroom is not fancy, but is functional. Dayana called twice to confirm date of job and today it was installed. Looks great! We had selected an aluminum railing for our wide hi ranch, due to our proximity to the ocean, with a special coating of vynalast paint. If at any time there is any damage, we call them and they touch up. Since they are local, that made a lot of sense. Overall, very pleased with look and design, and their knowledgeable input helped! I would trust them! We felt the price was reasonable for the amount of railing installed.
tWe stopped by the shop and Nelson explained the merits of various kinds of railings. We decided on wrought iron with a copper color finish. I brought in a picture of a detailed design with vines and flowers and was so pleased that Nelson agreed to make it. The railing turned out absolutely beautiful! There was a problem with the installation but Nelson came over promptly to fix it itand now it is perfect. Dayana is very pleasant to deal with. Excellent experience.
Nelson, the owner of the company, came a week before the work was performed to give me an estimate. He was punctual, professional and courteous. He knew immediately which railing would go with my house. The workers came a week later and reflected the same brand of professionalism as Nelson did. Several neighbors made a point to stop me and tell me how great the railing looks. Family and friends have visited and were equally impressed. I look at other railings as I drive around my neighborhood, and they don't have the same quality. The price was great. I would only go to N & J Ironworks for future projects of this kind.
