I am a 3rd time returning customer. After doing a stellar job on a whole house softener and drinking water system, I hired them again to replace my aging water heater. Rob did an excellent job replacing the exhaust sheet metal and putting in the new water heater. I wish they expanded their business to include other plumbing jobs and HVAC, but they are pretty restricted to what they currently provide.

NMP Water Systems was recommended by a local and they installed both my reverse osmosis system and water softener. They are very professional, responsive, honest and knowledgeable about all my questions. I use them to maintain and resalt my system every year. Highly recommend.

I am a returning customer. Tim and co did a stellar job installing my water softener. At the time when he gave me the quote for the softener, he also included a separate quote for a Reverse osmosis (RO) unit. At that time, I just did the softener with out the RO, thinking I would continue getting bottled water as I did. Fast forward to last week, I can no longer buy water in the larger 2.5 gallon cans due to high demand during the COVID 19 situation. The softener that Tim put has been working flawlessly for the last 2 years and I called NMP again to enquire about adding the RO system. They were very nice and still honored the original quote and got it done promptly. They gave me the option to install a separate faucet near the sink or have the water dispensed from the refrigerator. I chose the latter. I am glad I no longer need to depend on the stores for drinking water. Given the sudden high demand, NMP could have easily done price gouging if they were greedy. But they did not. It shows their high ethics, moral values and integrity in which they operate. I will continue to recommend Tim and Co to my friends and colleagues.

Very positive experience with Tim and his crew. We have horrible well water, and there were time constraints due to real estate purchase. Everything was done within the specified time-frame, neat and professionally. Responsive to inquiries, and helpful in educating during the process. They offer competitive pricing, and there is no pressure. You can tell that their main goal is to provide safe water to their clientele. It has been a few months since completion, and it is nice to have peace of mind that our plumbing, fixtures, and appliances are protected by some of the best equipment on the market.

We had a very bad experience with NMP water systems. I'd give zero stars if it were possible. 1. We had Tim (the owner) install a targeted reverse osmosis system, that brought RO water to a spigot at our kitchen sink and to the ice maker in our freezer. Because we get all our drinking and cooking water from the spigot at the sink, we had him put in an instant hot and a COLD tank, so it would provide the same features as the Poland Spring bubbler we were replacing this with. Seems like a fairly straightforward request. But he installed the heating tank and the cooling tank clear on the other side of the house (in the same spot he put the RO system, where the water enters our house) so it literally took over a minute for the water to run either hot or cold. It should have been installed close to the sink, of course. When he came back to address the situation, he said moving it would be too difficult, and suggested we put in a second heating tank and cooling tank under the sink, and wanted us to pay for the second units, which of course we refused to do. He put the second units in at his expense, rather than moving the units we originally bought (I guess the price of the units was less than his labor would have been to move the units.) Here he did the right thing. He installed improperly initially, and fixed his mistake. 2. The flow of the RO water was very week. We had him add a unit into the system that pumped the water more quickly. But that pump became obsolete as soon as he installed the instant hot and cold under the sink, since the pump was on the other side of the house near the RO system, so all it did was pump water more quickly into the instant hot and cold tanks, but had no effect on the speed by which the water left those tanks and flowed to the spigot. A total waste of money. 3. Within weeks of the under sink installation, the pipe leading from the instant hot tank to the sink spigot broke (while we were away on vacation) and by the time we came back, our kitchen and basement were completely flooded. Totally ruined the wood floors in my kitchen, as well as the ceiling, walls and floors of my basement. Tim came back to fix the connection, since it was his error, and said he’s pay for the damage -- and then disappeared, never to return a phone call again or respond to any correspondence, and of course, never paid for the damage to my house resulting from his shoddy work . And to add insult to injury, it happened AGAIN, about a year later. My handyman fixed it that time, and after his fix, we haven’t had the pipe come loose again. 4. The piping between the RO system and the pump came undone a few months later, so the other side of my basement flooded. (This being the aforementioned pump that was totally ineffective and obsolete once he installed, as described above.) My handyman fixed that pipe as well, and it didn’t leak again. I think Tim's workmanship was poor. No other explanation. And his lack of integrity is shameful. 5. The ineffective pump (already mentioned 2x above) blew about a year later (not that it mattered, since it was serving no purpose.) But because he had set the system up with the water flowing through the pump, I once again had to hire someone (since he refused to return my phone calls) to redirect the water so it would completely bypass the pump. Finally, I had a difficult time finding someone who could replace the minerals cartridges for me on the units he installed - since Tim had removed all manufacturer info from my units, with the intention of making me dependent on his company for all my future service calls. Buyer beware.

"Good morning, [Member Name Removed]. It has been several years since we have corresponded, so I was surprised to revisit this conversation which is not a fresh or current topic. I applaud you in your thoroughly scathing review of NMP as well as me, personally. After acheiving a stellar rating, for nearly a decade on Angies List, as well as several other review forums, you are the very first client, whom we actually completed work for, who gave us a straight F rating along with a detailed description for doing so. It is my belief that the hundreds of straight A reviews we have earned over the years (accompanied with nine years of Super Service Awards), as well as the several thousand and growing, happy, satisfied customers will far outweigh any difficulties and/or negativity depicted in our conversation here. I will try to keep my rebuttal here as neutral and professional as possible. The precise details in how or why we installed water purification equipment in your home are not the focal point of my response. We completed work for you and made various modifications, as per our standard operating procedures, which have worked effectively for all of the aforementioned satisfied clients whom we do currently service. At the end of your review, you mentioned the term "buyer beware". In this instance, at least for my company, this was a case of "contractor beware". During the process of working in your home and mitigating any issues that arose, I was warned by several contractors to be very careful/cautious working for you, as you were a challenging individual to work for in regards to always finding issues with workmanship and rarely if ever able to completely satisfy your requests. Furthermore, I was advised by our insurance provider and attorney to cease entering your home as it assuredly would lead to liability. Finally, within a year or so of NMP ceasing services with you, I was shown a review from you, on a local forum, by several of our loyal customers who are your immediate community neighbors, in which you made negative comments about myself and company, however you gave positive endorsements of another water purification service provider indicating that our equipment had been modified, removed or at a minimum serviced by another company who you were very happy with their services. This is contradictory to your review here, where you claim that NMP essentially left you in the lurch and that your hand man has been making repairs ever since. This conversation is relatively old (from several years ago), I would say well beyond the normal, "statute of limitations" for a conflict between contractor and homeowner, so I was curious to understand why it be "made public" so many years later other then to fulfill a personal vendetta to tarnish the name of myself and company? This all stated. I do want it to be publicly known, that NMP Water Systems. LLC does in fact have a long time, excellent reputation, demonstrated by our consistent positive review performance and thriving business. Additionally, myself, Tim, the owner of NMP, genuinely cares about each and every customer and will work tirelessly to achieve customer satisfaction at all times. I am indeed sorry that our business relationship did not work out well. My hope is that you are in fact, happy with your new service provider and that this is the one and only time, that NMP has to endure a customer experience as brutal as this. Good day. Tim - Owner"

Choose nmp because trusted store owner and Angie's list reviews were outstanding. In every way Time and his plumbers at nmp greatly exceeded my expectations. We are now delighted in the great taste and softness of our water. Our only regret is that we didn't hire nmp a decade ago.

Working with Tim and NMP was such a positive experience. They answered my questions promptly. Tim was very professional and upfront when he came to give a quote. The numbers worked within our budget and we scheduled the work shortly after. On the day of installation, they were here on time and did the work as promised. Very neat and clean job with everything accessible. Our water tastes great and no more lugging bottles from the store! I had a question for Tim after the installation and he was equally responsive.

If you are like myself in the market for a whole house water softener, there are many brands, models and a wide price range based on who you ask. I got got quotes from 4 companies in the area and NMP's cost for parts and labor fell right in the middle. Tim, the owner came, tested the water and took time to explain the particular system he thought would work well for my scenario. Evolve softeners which they install are made by Water-right, a family owned operation in Wisconsin. Although the Evolve series has been around only since the last 10 years, Water-right has been in business for a very long time. On the day of the install Robert arrived on time and did the necessary changes to the existing plumbing to accommodate the softener. His work was professional and through. When he was done, he walked me through the system, cleaned up the area before he left. If you are like me on the fence wondering if you are making a mistake not going with Culligan (who is the established player in the area), I would recommend you do your own independent research into Water-right and Evolve. Any product is only as good as the company claims, if its installed well. The 200+ A reviews on Angies for NMP says a lot about NMP's professionalism and is testament to a great system they are putting in.
Response from NMP WATER SYSTEMS, LLC
"Hi [Member Name Removed]. Thank you very much for the kind words. You are correct, the Evolve Series is a premium brand from Water Right. The system we installed for you, as well as numerous other satisfied Angie's List customers, is the "EVRC" model, which is NSF certified and 100% American made. This system not only provides soft water, but rather filtered water throughout the home. Excellent upgrade from the the traditional water softener brands that you mentioned. Please let me know if there's anything else we can do for you now or in the future. Thanks again, Tim - NMP Owner"

They were the only company of the 3 from Angies List that responded to my inquiry from their website. I had done some investigating already and had an idea of what to expect for cost and they were within that range. They did an initial consultation and water test. They provided me options with no pressure or upsell. I ended up deciding on the softener with carbon filter. We scheduled the install and they were on time and in and out in a couple of hours. The install was clean and it has been a month now with no issues and water that is now drinkable from the tap.

Tim the owner came to house to give his suggestion of what should be done. No high pressure sales pitch. Answered every question promptly for several days until it was decided to choose NMP. Tim arrived at our house and performed a water test confirming hard water. He described the water softener and reverse osmosis systems and was very informative and did not pressure us. We ended up going with the EVRC system and the installation went very smooth as well. His team arrived on time, explained the work and performed it quickly. They even replaced an existing degraded shut-off valve for free. Our family loves the water softener system and we already feel the difference in our skin, laundry, etc. Overall the process was excellent and highly recommend Tim and NMP Water Systems.

First of all let me say this. If you are in the Bergen County NJ area and are savvy with online reviews then you will most likely do what I did and get 4-5 estimates from the 4-5 best rated/highest reviewed companies on angies list/google reviews/homeadvisor etc. Which includes Purely Waters Kinetico system (approx $3000, avoid it). Passaic Bergen Water softening and Advanced Water (Both companies owned by the same person now since 2017). NMP Water Systems is without a doubt the BEST company out of all the top choices. I consider my self a good judge of character and have renovated my home for almost 100k in the past few years so I have dealt with many contractors. This company, by far, was the most professional, knowledgeable, honest, and trustworthy out of the 5 companies my wife and I interviewed. No salesman and sales pitches at all!! Tim, the owner, absolutely did whats best for us and took all of our concerns into account. He's the one that suggested an extra spigot to wash my car with soft water and only charged us $100 extra to do so. He used pex tubing and copper piping. He took his time in creating a seamless install. He even offered to run the RO water through our refrigerator as well so that the ice would be treated and so we would never have to spend money of frig filters again!! Tim was also the only person that suggested leaving the RO system in the basement rather than under my kitchen sink to save on space and then when he installed the tubing up to the kitchen sink, my wife and I, were amazed how great of an idea that was. The 2 employees that worked with Tim were incredibly professional and well spoken. They put down several tarps over the wooden floors/rugs etc. When they left and we went to inspect our basement, you could hardly tell anyone was there for 5 hours. Their ability to finish and provide amazing customer service was really refreshing. We didn't have to repeat ourselves over and over again to make sure everything was installed the way Tim and I discussed. NMP also was the only company that offered us a 10 yr warranty on PARTS and LABOR for both systems! NMP's price just also happened to be the most competitive for the exact same product other companies were offering. Tim and the crew were punctual during the 1st appointment and the subsequent install and we couldn't be happier! Tim also applied for permits with the town of Fair Lawn and did not charge extra to do so. Thank you NMP for such great work and for relieving us of the stress of hiring a water treatment contractor. For anyone reading this review, please consider, at least, getting an estimate from NMP so you can see why I'm so enthusiastic about my experience. At this time (8/2017) the highest rated water treatment company on Angie's List and I can absolutely see why. Good luck with your search. -Oktay M.

A+ all the way: initial consultation, installation, equipment quality, fair price, everything. Got quotes from NMP and Bergen Passaic. Same exact price and basically identical equipment. Both were friendly, no high pressure sales gimmicks, didn't rush and didn't waste my time dragging it out or trying to close the sale. Gave me the info, price, brochures, and said call if I had any questions or wanted to proceed. Basically Coke/Pepsi competitors. Ultimately went with NMP though for two reasons and am glad I did: First, the other company was going to pipe the discharge from the water softener to the basement sump pump that our washing machine drains to, and convinced me it was fine. I would have hired them on the spot but already scheduled a quote from NMP and figured it couldn't hurt to hear from them. NMP said they would definitely NOT recommend having the water softener drain into a sump pump, because the volume of discharge is significant and all the brine can shorten the life of the pump or overwhelm it (ie. flood our basement). Regardless, some day the sump pump will fail (everything breaks eventually) and then when the softener regenerates, it will flood our basement with brine. They said they'd do the extra work to connect everything to the main drain of the house and it was all the same price anyway so we went with NMP. We got a new, larger capacity washing machine around the same time, and after the water softener was installed (but completely separated from the sump pump) our sump pump actually did fail (had nothing to do with NMP or the water softener, just coincidence). If we had let either company pipe the water softener to the sump pump, because of the timing, I would have been sure the water softener was to blame, even though it wasn't, and I would have given them ****. NMP had insisted on doing it right and so when our sump pump failed, the water softener drained into the main drain and out to the street, bypassing the sump pump completely. The RO system is great. Tons of stuff in public water potentially (Flint Michigan, the chemical from the movie Erin Brochovich has been found in parts of Bergen County NJ, lead pipes in our old house, etc.) and we just felt safer having the RO. The second reason we went with NMP instead of the other company was my wife did not want a stupid ugly plastic thing added to our kitchen sink, and didn't want a big tank and filters under the sink taking up storage. She was opposed to getting the RO for that reason. NMP said no problem. They can put the tank and filters in the basement (not under the sink) and just ran the little hose all the way to the kitchen, and the spigot is very high quality and has a shape and finish that matches our exiting faucet. I have never been a water snob; it all tastes the same to me, but the safety of extra filtration was worth it for me and since they were doing the water softener we figured let's just do it all. I didn't really taste a difference at first (at least not enough to pay for it). Several months later though, I've gotten used to the better, cleaner taste and when I drank regular tap water it tasted awful. $2,895 is not a small amount of money, but it's high quality equipment (no issues after several months), professional service, the time of two skilled plumbers, and it should lengthen the life of our appliances and has cut down on the hard water stain build-up we were having. I think it was definitely worth it and wouldn't go back, and strongly recommend NMP.

I called Tim on Friday evening because we had a small leak in a pipe feeding the softener hoping to get a recommendation for a repair person. We had to shut off the water to the whole house and we were having a party on Sunday. Tim asked me to text him pictures of the problem, and said even though he was booked for Saturday, he would come himself and fix the issue, even though the install was out of my expected coverage. Tim contacted me Saturday morning early, and the repair was done by 9:45 a.m.! That's service beyond my expectations... Tim is focused on his customers for the long haul and remembered me and where I lived on my initial call, great service.I recommend N.M.P. highly.

We met on 6/7 and Tim tested my water and was able to diagnose that basically I needed a Water Softener & offered to give me an excellent price for a Package under the sink filtration & Softener. I also had an estimate done a week prior for both & after he heard their number, he price matched it. He made me feel very comfortable and I decided to go with him. The job was completed on 6/12 on a timely fashion, professionally and very neat. I plan to use him again for my water pressure tank & I was quoted a very good price once again.. I am also recommending to another neighbor.

I had my water tested and was told that I need a new water softener and a water neutralizer. I asked a few different companies for an estimate and NMP was the only company who gave me an honest answer. They showed up when they said they would and tested the water right in front of me. They told me that while I did need a new softener, I did not need a neutralizer and the water wasn't as hard as others said it was. They were very flexible with the time to have the new softener installed, and they offered a ten year warranty on parts and workmanship. The installer showed up on time, and installed and explained everything. It couldn't have gone any better all around. I appreciate the honesty and integrity of a business who doesn't try to sell equipment and services that aren't needed. Thank you!
