"We took some time away from Angie'sList to focus on other client sources. We have doubled our staff and just reactivated our account for additional client sources to fill the new schedule openings. We are very dissapointed the client had this experience with us. The homeowner did hire our company for drywall hanging and finishing services. The homeowner advised they had a hard time finding dependable drywall contractors to do the project and they were happy to find our company. We attempted to respond and help the homeowner get the project done swiftly. The project was of an older homes "attic" kind of space, with steap A-frame vaulted ceilings, windows, built in cabinets and draws. The project was filled with many detailed and time consuming cuts, measurements and labor intensive finishing work. This was more intensive work then modern built "boxed" rooms and required almost double the time to finish. The entire top half of the home was a full on construction site. We did advise the customer of the time frame at the beginning and updated them regularly thru out the project. The floors looked like they where previously sanded and clear coated. Thay had previous normal wear and tears, markings, that were part of its uniqueness and antique charm for the floors being 76 years old. Unfortunately after lifting up the standard floor protection for the project there were a few new scratches and dents done by our crew's larger equipments and ladders on the older and delicate softer wood. We apologized perfusely to the homeowner and advised them this will be resolved quickly and they will be made whole as part of our one year guarantee on all of our projects. The client insisted on having the entire floors redone and we advised the newly made marks can be repaired individually. Since there were already various marks and indentation from thru out its 76 year existince, we agreed to redo the entire space to do our best to make the homeowner feel satisfied and whole because there were issues with the floors done by our company. We received the estimate from the company the homeowner agreed to do the floors. We agreed to everything and to move forward with redoing the floors. At this time the homeowner only paid half of their project with us at the beginning and the other half is still with the client. We respectfully asked the homeowner to just deduct the floor repair charges from the balance they have with our company and to send the remaining balance to zero out everything with the floor repair company, with our company and with the client. We asked the homeowener to do this because this is standard practice in all construction and home services trades with this kind of issue. Its usually done this way because the client is protected as they control the funds, the repairs are guaranteed of getting done and the homeowner does not need to deal with our insurance company and its delays because we will deal with our insurance company in the background. The homeowner felt it was not proper for us to make this request. We apologized and advised its not an issue and we understand they have valid reasons to feel this way. We agreed they can zero out once the floors are refinished. The homeowner was very pleased with the quality of our work outside of the floors issue. Unfortunately there are rare accidents and misunderstandings that occur in any business relationship and commitment. We appreciate the homeowners giving us the business opportunity and their appreciation of their overall experience with our services but sincely apologize for the clients final experience with the floors. We can only grow to better satisfy our clients from this mishap."
