Northwest Cedar Products

This was by far one of the worst experiences I've ever had with a company, ever....if I could give negative stars I would. Terrible communication through out the process by Northwest by the owner, his son and girls that works the phones. They'd tell me one thing one day and then it was something completely different the next day. They actually tried strong-arming me into something I didn't want the week and day of install that wasn't agreed upon on the original proposal. Install was brutal, grass ruined, nails left in grass and large mounds of dirt left around posts installs that I had to clean up. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, go with someone else or you will wish you had like myself.

LESS THAN ONE STAR would be appropriate. I ordered a fence & asked for slats to be no more than 1/2 inch apart so my puppy couldn't get her mouth around them. Was ASSURED this is how it would be built, but each slat is 1.75 to 2 inches apart. I asked & was told it's "just the way the fence is". They offered no apology or solution even though it's built differently than promised. So I just paid over $6000 for a fence & have to keep my dog on a tether. SO frustrating and upsetting. Hardly worth having a fence at all! Also, they left in the middle of my yard big chunks of my previous fence that they'd taken down. I asked why & was told they can remove it if I want but for a charge. I was never informed this would be extra, nor that this wasn't part of the job. They also put IMPOSSIBLE latches on the gates - 5 ft high so my kids can't reach AND it sticks out far from the fence in a big metal point, so it's DANGEROUS & difficult even for an adult to open & close the gate (nowhere to grab it). I can barely get in & out of my yard! I asked & was told that's "the only latch they have" & if I want them to install another, I could buy it myself & pay them to install, leaving giant holes in the top of my gates when the old one's removed. I drove around my entire neighborhood & don't see even ONE fence w/ a latch like this. ALSO, our fence is frayed, chipped & split all over on posts & slats. When I asked why they DIDN'T RESPOND! I also opened an interest-free card through NW Cedar to pay for the fence & when they gave me the paperwork there was a $29 fee. I asked why & was told if I don't sign it they'll send me to collections. I have DOZENS of cards & never had to pay a fee to activate ANY card. Originally they seemed nice on the phone, but when it came to fixing things they did wrong they did NOTHING. I don't even know whether or not the wood has been treated & have called & emailed multiple times. They NEVER respond. The worst part of all of it is that the fence is USELESS since I need to keep the dog on a tether because they made the slats too wide apart and wouldn't fix it. I would NOT recommend this company. Clearly they don't care about their customers!

In 2009 this company build a fence for me. In the summer of 2016, I realized that most of the 4x4 posts started to deteriorate near the ground so I decided to have a closer look and removed the soil around them. To my great surprise, as you can see from the photos, I discovered that many posts had insufficient or no cement at all. I emailed them twice with no success. I send a registered letter last March and finally John Keefe replied deflecting responsibilities to the “Nature” of wood and time and asked me 125$/post to replace them. He did not take any responsibility about the fact that the installer DID NOT USE CEMENT at the base of the damaged posts. My contract with them states clearly "4x4 post wood set with concrete footing". Installing them without cement and not taking responsibility is called cheating. Be aware before dealing with this company. If the owner replies I will be glad to share with you his response and the text on my letters.

I was a little hesitant at first because of the mixed reviews but we did use Northwest several years back for our fence at our home in Geneva. That experience went so well we decided to use them again. The price was very fair, the scheduling was quick and easy and the installation was performed timely and professionally. Job well done.

They didn't have enough material to finish the entire fence on day #1. It was not communicated to me that there would be a different person coming out to install the gate on a different date. After multiple daily calls, the gate installer came out 4 business days later and installed two steel posts in an area different than where the gate was supposed to go. Several phone calls back to the office and we still dont know when they will come out to now remove the steel posts that are not in the correct area and install our gate and finish the fence. Tomorrow will be 1 week for a small project. I would never recommend this company to anyone.

They were proficient, professional, extremely courteous and helpful. They provided excellent workmanship. I was extremely satisfied with the overall result of all the repairs they did. The owner even did courteous follow up to ensure that I was satisfied with everything. I would highly recommend them.

They completed it in about a week from the original estimate. They do excellent work, very impressive craftsmenship and the quality of the product is excellent.

From the office staff to the owner to the installation technicians, this was a very pleasant experience!  Rob gave us a quote, took care of the permits and had his technicians build the fence in less time than he quoted!  Some of my landscaping was outside of my property line and Rob arrived to help remove it swiftly and professionally.  I would hire them again in a heartbeat!   <br /> Thanks everyone! <br />

Tim was great.  Came in and showed us difference types of fencing.  Gave us a great deal on a fence.  The guys came out to install a few weeks later.  Our job was a tough one with all of the rocks in our soil.  They had to hand dig the holes for the posts.  Took them 2 days because of this.  They came back bright and early on Saturday (a holiday weekend at that).  It looks amazing!  We were very happy with Northwest. <br />

<p>Was pleased with the project overall. Liked that Tim explained different brands of fencing so we could choose quality over just the cheapest price. They explained their installation tid bits that help keep the challenges of vinyl fencing from rising out of the ground over time. Their price was in line with other company's proposals. The installers worked well together and had a 'system' that made them very efficient. I could not believe 3 people could do the project in 1 full day, but they did. </p> <p>Within a month of the fence installed, one of those nasty storms caused a section to break free. We were panicked at first that we chose the wrong product, this was exactly what were trying to avoid by choosing a high wind resistant brand in Kroy. They came out within 3 days of the breakdown and explained the section notching mechanism was just a bit not slotted in place, so the fence is designed to break away like that. Only part that actually broke was the post cap. He was able to reconnect the section and have not had any troubles with section failure since. Expect that gates will need adjusting, just an fyi, with ground settling the first year, but the repair group comes out to adjust and teach the owner how to make future little adjustments from normal ground shifting.</p> <br />

They did a very good job. Arrived on time, cleaned up after themselves, no issues whatsoever. The fence is beautiful to the point we've gotten compliments from the neighbors

We called for a quote and Tim came out at our scheduled appointment. We were very pleased with his presentation and price compared to two other companies. We had it installed after we received our permit from our village. We agreed to instal on the monday before thanksgiving day( weather permitting). Weather did not allow for instal on Monday. They came out Tues and worked until village passed inspection. Job was finished on Wednesday. We are very pleased with the work and communication from the beginning to the end. Thanks to Tim,Gina,Tina and the worker that did the install. I definitely would recommend them for fence installation and would use them again. <br />

The installation was fine and everything went very well.  The only problem was that the company had run out of cedar caps for the posts and I was told that they were backordered.  After a few months I contacted the provider again and was told that they were being held up by Customs.  I finally received a call in late February that the Provider had finally received the cedar caps and that they would install them within the week which they did and they look very nice. in all, it took about 6 months to complete the fence with the cedar caps.  I am pleased with the workmanship, the fence is very solid and built to my specifications. I had recommended them to my next door neighbor who had their fence built to the exact same specs. <br />

It went well however they interrupted tv cable service throughout the subdivision and also hit the phone lines. The lines had been marked by the utilities but they accidentally hit them with their post hole diggers. They arrived on time and did a nice job. I had contracted with them before I joined Angie's List. I had received an advertising flyer for their company and responded to that within a few days. <br /> <br /> <br />
