The original contract stated: toilet replacement, installing vanity, light fixtures, two ceiling fans, dry wall, various plumbing needs, medicine cabinet, etc. We the customer supplied all materials as stated in the contract. Working relationship started off as well as anyone could expect. He met with my wife two times but would only sign a contract if I was going to be home from work. He understandably stated he wanted both husband and wife involved so nothing goes wrong. My wife and I planned this remodel for four years and are left with flooring tiles that do not meet up correctly at corners in about 40-60% of the joints. During the toilet replacement he asked my wife if he should replace the seal. My wife asked him to explain the difference and he said it would be more work. Her response was I have no idea. Do what you think is the best. Because the seal was not replaced, the leaking seal ruined all of the adhesion on the bottom of the highly rated tiles and toilet water was now springing out from in between the tiles like Old Faithful - could not wear socks in the bathroom because of all the water. With young children, you can only imagine what huge gaping crevasses under the toilet will do for the smell in a room. The toilet water that was leaking had made its way to the upstairs carpet and downstairs closet. While working on the bathtub a leak occurred which caused him to call another contractor to cut a rectangular hole in the ceiling of the main floor in our living room. The hole was there for over a month. Various spots of caulking not even attached to the shower walling he installed puts it at risk for more water damage. The current state of the bathroom is the tiles are a complete mess and cannot be reinstalled correctly. Hot wires are hanging from the ceiling (in our BATHROOM) which he told my wife to tell me what to do with them. We contacted Ron before July 4th and explained the floor and the water and the overall need for him to come and forge a plan to fix this. He was out of town and said he had delivery jobs when he returned but would come back. He came back the Thursday after the 4th. He replaced the seal and caulked the walls and on his way out handed my wife a tube of glue and said if any of the tiles keep moving, just glue them down. I called him that evening and asked him what he thinks went wrong because we reached out to the tile vendor who stated it needed a sub floor installed before the tile first and foremost. Ron explained to me that he asked my wife what he should do. After hearing him blame everything on my wife I asked him if when you are a passenger on an airplane it isn't often that the pilot comes to the passengers and asks the best route. I asked Ron for all further communications to be in writing and have yet to hear from him. Ron explained that he had "simply done too much work for us because he was a nice guy. Every single task Ron tried to perform was written by him in our contract. We hired someone who had great reviews and received quotes from 3 others. Ron was not the cheapest and seemed knowledgeable. We hired an expert to do something that exceeded our skill and knowledge and he is simply blaming every mistake he made on us when it took a two second google to discover the sub flooring mistake. We will be seeking reimbursement for the flooring materials, the time and labor spent to install the flooring, cost of repairs to the closet and ceiling, and the cost of a carpet cleaning for the toilet water that had gone everywhere. Ron seemingly was not thrilled about hearing from us when we were explaining how much water was going everywhere and the tiles were literally moving under our feet, and was certainly not willing to fix the mistakes when he told us he had just worked too hard for us. He didnot even fulfill what he hand wrote in the contract with the agreed upon do...
