Old House Painting Company

I found Don Localio "This Old house Painting on Angie list.  He came out and gave me an estimate to do the job.  I wanted my house and garage painted by hand not sprayer.He provided that service.  I got estimates from other companies, but the wanted to use spray guns.  One we agreed on a price .  He power washed the house and prepared the surface for painting.  He moved very quickly, despite the heat wave that we have here in Houston.  I would recommend him to  anyone. <br />

I received a written bid from him. We live in an older building and said he knows how to work on older buildings. He was going to sand to the bare wood and put on 2 coats of paint, one of primer and then another coat of paint. He said he would cover my hardwood floors to protect them. He didn't cover the floors and left wet rags on them. He got paint on each of my outside windows, all over the bathroom and the floors. He broke my toilet when moved it. He damaged my vinyl floors in the kitchen when he moved the appliances. It's taken over 3 weeks to get the work done and he did a poor job.

Don Localio is a man of his word. He powerwashed, sanded and painted the exterior by hand. The house looks great. He promised to come back to touch up after some rotted wood was replaced and he did. <br />

I was given this man's phone- called him- he bid, the work was done promptly and at the highest quality. He cleaned everything before and afterwards- polite, intelligent.

Very thorough and expedient. Clean work space. Very conscientious. Friendly. Punctual. Worked diligently through project. <br />

I first met Don because he was subcontracted by someone else to paint an apartment in a Victorian home that we own. Don immediately impressed me because he was warm and personable. Regarding his work, Don brought the deteriorated walls in the apartment back to life, very carefully rehabbing and painting the old plaster. It was clear that he takes great pride in his work, and will take the time necessary to do the best job possible. <br /> When we needed our living room painted in our early 80's home, Don was extremely punctual for providing an estimate and arriving to paint. I felt his pricing was very fair. He offered to help with color selections, which I greatly appreciated as he is an artist by training. He was extremely professional, as well as friendly. He was very patient with my color selections, which continued throughout the job! I changed the hue between the first and second coat, and Don very patiently applied a third color to a wall to allow me to entertain the possibility of changing colors yet one more time! He maintained good humor throughout the project and was extremely helpful, providing invaluable help to clean a mishap I had, while he was on the job. <br /> Professionally, Don's painting was excellent. His line definition is perfect around the ceiling, windows and molding. His painting is also very even. I would hire Don again in a heartbeat and recommend him most highly. <br />

Don is a great painter who gave our "old" wooden clapboard home loving care and attention to detail. He clearly loves historic homes and understands our desire to maintain ours in a manner that is faithful to its origins and honors its history. <br /> His work on our home is <strong><em>beautiful</em></strong>. We've never received so many compliments as we have since Don painted it (and this is the third time we've had it painted over the course of owning it for 28 years). It's simply gorgeous. <br /> One of the best indicators of Don's integrity and the impeccability he brought to our job was the fact that he paid as much attention to detail, and was as careful with his straight lines and "cutting in" on the parts of our house that only we can see (as opposed to just caring about what is obvious to passersby). He did the job <em>right,</em> not just paying attention to the superficial. <br /> Most important, however, is Don's honesty. He quoted and charged a fair and reasonable price to complete the work that needed to be done on our house (which included, but wasn't necessarily limited to, application of a top coat of latex paint on the entire structure as well as all of the trim and porches, some minor carpentry work, replacement of a few broken panes in windows, and priming and painting all 17 pairs of shutters). <br /> It's worth noting that among the many ways he showed us that he values our home and takes pride in his work, he cared enough to painstakingly pay attention to make sure the shutters were matched appropriately and that their hardware (some of which had to be replaced because it was missing or broken) worked correctly. This was a tedious and thankless job (although we did thank him!). We are so appreciative of his attention to these details. He also made sure to attach all of the shutters to the clapboards so they would not swing loose in high winds. <br /> Don was always a model of professionalism, being friendly, respectful, and always, always being true to his word. (This was particularly important to us, as we'd been lied to and treated extremely poorly by our initial painter.) <br /> Don treated our house and us with respect and care. We would recommend him unequivocally to anyone. <br />
