One Call Roofing

On the first day One Call showed up late at approximately 10:30 am and the person in charge was in his flip flops. No building materials were unloaded prior to the start date, even though, they had been paid over half of the total cost of the job, over a month in advance. Left at 2;30 with the roof open to the elements, with rain in the forecast. No tarps in place. Their man in charge did tell me he was not a framer , but would take care of it. The job required an experienced framer. 2nd day the building was flooded due to their incompetence causing damage to contents, and three levels of the historic structure. Massive water intrusion. No tarps in place even though the person in charge was told to tarp the property. They show on their website how careful they are of your shrubs by putting tarps over them, yet they can't cover a roof open to the elements. Damaged the air conditioning and a garage door due to their disregard for property and recklessness. Other than a few fans and a several dehumidifiers , one which was removed on the fourth day because they did want to pay rent on it, there was no professional water remediation. 3rd day their sales representative, David Brackett, punched a hole in my wall and threatened me with balled up fists, getting in my face as if he was going to punch me, cursing repeatedly "God Damnit God Damnit !!" Finally on the 4th day Chris Rouveyrol showed up to see the damage. He promised that they were "a good company " and would take care of it. He said they would finish the roof and then fix the damage. The job was to take 3-5 days. To this date they have not done either. One Call refused to submit claim to their insurance company. Their agent Pam Gentry at The Alabama Insurance Exchange would not start a claim. Finally after three months The State of Alabama stepped in , starting the claim, and admonishing their agent for not opening the claim. Their insurance said that they have since canceled their policy. One Call abandoned the job without completing the scope of the contract. They left materials on the roof as if they had gone to lunch and not come back. The work they did do needs to be redone and they did not file a warranty with the manufacturer of the roofing material, yet they claim that they finished and " I owed them money for the new roof." The warranty was to be 5 year expert workmanship warranty and 20 year material warranty. They never finished the work, so they could not apply for the material warranty with the manufacturer , yet they said they have finished the job. Of course they won't honor any workmanship warranty because they have not even finished the job. One Call has failed to respond to a request The Alabama Attorney Generals Office. One Call fails to explain themselves to the BBB and can't answer the questions of "why they didn't finish the job?", and why there is no warranty?" One Call would not return my calls or emails. There insurance is inadequate to cover all the damage they have caused. This ordeal started June 24, 2018 and to this date is still not resolved . There has been no payment by the insurance company to date, yet One Call has stated that I have been made 'whole" by their insurance company. One Call overestimated the ability of their employees to do a job which they were unqualified for, and have not taken responsibility for any of their incompetence and on top of that they have left my property uninhabitable. They have been dishonest in their responses and have acted without any integrity which they claim they operate by.

NEVER, EVER LET THESE PEOPLE (or any other roofing co.) KNOW YOUR INSURANCE IS PAYING. THEY WILL TAKE THE ENTIRE AMOUNT PLUS CHARGE YOU MORE! I ASKED FOR AN ESTIMATE, WHICH I NEVER GOT. (Being naïve this was my first house and first major repair), I knew very little about carpetbaggers in the roofing business. The guy that came out wanted to look at my insurance letter for roof steepness (the insurance had already allowed for that). He made a copy of the letter added more charges and said he was sending to my insurance company. Later when they sent me a bill I was told THAT WAS A CONTRACT! My insurance adjuster told me I should have gotten the depreciation but these people took that plus said I owed $300 more or they WOULD PUT A LIEN ON MY HOME. I am being generous giving them a C for Quality (only due to sending a better roofer the third time. It took 4 months for them to complete the horrible job (see photos at bottom). They started on my roof 12/17/18 and did not complete until 4 months later in April 3, 2019. They did not replace the gutters (insurance allowed for) and I was told they would credit me $230 but they changed their mind and only gave me credit for $200 at the end. Average cost of roof replacement in my area PER ANGIES LIST & a neighbor with a roof replacement is $7,523-$8,000. They took over $10,757.00 ( insurance money) and added several hundred more, which I had to go into savings to make up. They are very deceptive. IF THEY ASK IF YOUR INSURANCE IS PAYING = SAY “NO”! I AM PAYING. ASK FOR AN ESTIMATE...IF THEY WILL NOT GIVE AN ESTIMATE, CALL SOMEONE ELSE. I WOULD NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY!

Although the weather was a major factor and also materials ordered, once everything fell into place, the job was done very quickly and professionally. I will continue to use this company for any roofing needs and recommend them to anyone needing any type of roofing repairs or installs.

I cannot say enough great things about our experience with On Call. From first contact to cleanup and payment, everything went professionally and smoothly. All of the workers were very hard working and very efficient. They even did all of the coordination with our insurance company. I highly recommend them to anyone. Very happy customer.

One Call came and did a thorough review and estimated repair for brick and interior damage. They went a step further to help diagnose poor flashing/roof junction and suggested we’d continue to have water leaking if we didn’t repair that too. They were great about estimating everything separately so we could get comparison quotes. They were responsive and professional. Even helped advance workers out due to rain in the forecast.

My call was returned immediately and someone came out to my home as soon as I was available to meet them. Within 30 minutes, the cause of my leak was determined and I was given a recommendation and an estimate for repairs. The price was fair and he was completely professional. The work was completed as soon as the weather permitted since it was a non-emergency. I didn't have to be at home while the work was being performed so I was able to go to work and come home to an improved roof. They completely cleaned up afterwards because there was absolutely no mess.

Weather held up the job for a while, but once onsite they worked quickly and the end result was very good. Roofing jobs are messy and are hard to clean up. They could have done a little better here, but overall good.

I think there work is good. I will not know for sure for a while I guess. The only problem is it took weeks for them to complete the job. In fairness, it did rain a more than normal amount during those weeks, but there were days of dry weather when I wondered why they don't come and do this small job. I wish them the best and everyone I talked to was professional, but I got frustrated.

On Call was recommended by a friend, and they responded immediately. When I told them my tight schedule they made it their mission to get the work done on time. After several days of rain they offered to work on a Sunday to meet the schedule. They completed the work and every interaction was professional, courteous and gracious.
