About us

Locally owned & operated. Hard Water is defined as water that contains dissolved minerals (usually but not limited to calcium and magnesium bicarbonate) expressed in grains per gallon. The lower the mineral content of the water, the “softer” the water (and the more corrosive); while higher mineral content means “harder” water. - See more at: http://www.onewatersystems.com/how-it-works/amp-force-technology/#sthash.0JZHCNxP.dpuf

Installation went smoothly. I've had the system for about 5 years and I recommend it highly. The water tastes great. We don't buy water anymore. Our pipes are protected from mineral buildup. Very pleased with our purchase.

We had the One Water system install at our house a little over a year ago. At that time we had a traditional water softener that needed to be replaced. We loved our soft water but were sold on the idea that we would no longer need salt for our system, would use less water for recharging, and could drink the water. Additionally we were told we would need to use less soaps, laundry detergent, etc. From the first day it was installed we did not like the condition of our water. We discussed this with One Water and were told we needed to give it some time to flush the salt, etc. from our home and it would take time to get accustomed to the new water. I waited a year to write the review to give it a chance. After a year we still are not happy with this water. We need to use much more soap, shampoo, laundry detergents, etc. After showering and washing our hair we still feel like we did with regular City water (maybe worse.) Also we are noticing a build- up of deposits on our plumbing fixtures. Sinks, toilets, bathtubs and all plumbing fixtures are much harder to clean and keep clean. Nothing sparkles anymore as it did when we had soft water. Any dishes, glasses, pots and pans left in the dish drainer become severely water spotted so everything must be dried immediately. Our glass coffee carafe needs to be cleaned with vinegar to remove the spots. The exterior of the water dispenser on the refrigerator must now be cleaned using vinegar also. I could go on but you can imagine for yourself. In March the system failed, filling everything (toilets, hot water heater, ice maker) with a black material. One Water did come out and replace the filtration tank. While waiting we had to bypass the system and return to using City water. We actually preferred the City water. We also bought bottled water, and packaged ice again at that time. My wife had noticed that her skin stopped itching when we switched to bottled water again. Don’t know why? But if you think about it why would you want to put total calcium carbonate in your system? They say it is great but they can provide no evidence this is nutritionally good for you. One Water’s solution was for us to pay for a private water test for about $200.00. Wrong answer after spending over $3,500.00 with One Water. We now continue to drink bottled water. Also of note is One Water came out about 4 times during this year and each time they adjusted something and then said try it again. After the last time we asked for our money back and they said that is not the option at all, we just need to keep trying it. If we had our money back we would immediately get another water system. They did our annual system check and determined that everything was great. I expressed some of my concerns on their review form at this time. I did not get a response We do not like the quality. I would not recommend the One Water system. When we are able to afford it we will be replacing the One Water system. I wish someone would have written a review like this before we wasted $3500.00!
Response from One Water Systems
"Mr [Member Name Removed], I am sorry you feel it necessary to complain on public forums such as this, but you obviously have been misguided or ill informed on water quality. lets present some facts, not feelings on some points you have made. The 'soft' water you had or seem to prefer is water altered. They take ONLY minerals away, (naturally found in all H2O) then have salt added to the water which leaves a slippery/slimy feel. Medical professionals all agree extra sodium (Salt) either orally or absorption though the skin, is NOT advised. Salt based softeners do not filter anything in the way of contaminants such as chlorine or most V.O.C's. Of course companies that still sell those devices will always offer a drinking device for your sink. Not to mention the corrosion salt does to your plumbing/water heater, ask anyone who has had one for a few years!! You say you liked the fact that it left your dishes spotless and made more soap suds. Salt in water will make for the water to slide off of flat surfaces, It does add suds to soap use. We have notes of you buying from us as you didn't like buying salt and replacing filters!!! Our system FILTERS water, it cannot add anything to the water, it only takes away. It has NO salts so the suds from soap do not get increased , but rinse off your body and dishes far easier., the reason for using less soaps. Our calcium control unit, breaks down the corrosive calcium (bicarbonate into carbonate form) so that the calcium is less binding. You say that there is no evidence of the benefits, well its not added to the water, but if you look on any nutritional supplement, vitamin or digestive product, you'll see that the main ingredient for ALL living things is calcium carbonate. As you have noted we came back and replaced a defective part of your equipment, this could have been damaged by a surge in water pressure or manufactured incorrectly. We did as any good company would do, rectify the problem by replacing it. The issues with your wife skin could be a number of things, but as we had discussed we would have the water quality tested by an independent lab or have a professional medical practitioner explain to us the problem with the water, as you know we tested it thoroughly and saw no evidence of contaminants or lack of mineral P.H alkaline. You seem to think city water is better than cleaner water, this is your opinion, thousands of our customers and non customers would disagree. The survey you filled out on our free annual visit 8/03/16 says you love the idea of not using salt, and your comment written by you is "your company is great but we miss the softer water we had" I don't understand how those comment less than a month ago has led to the aggressive statements you have posted. You note in your statements, you wish others had posted these warning signs before you purchased, Well you are the only one who has. Please contact me directly to see what else we could do, to give you that "magic" water you desire."

After speaking with Kevin (CEO) about the merits of the One Water System, and my own online followup, I bit, and was scheduled for installation 5 days later. Juan, the installer was on time, courteous, self-effacing, humorous, knowledgable and highly skilled. He replaced the ugly functioning plumbing (piping) with a more contoured professional appearance. After the system instalation, function test, old water softener packed and area cleaned. I was given an outline of positives results to look for. And, as of 2 weeks after installation, I am very pleased with results. Faucet run faster, wife says hair and skin feels better. Good professional results from beginning to end.
"Hi Member, We are sorry and shocked that you not satisfied with our products but in response to your comments for all readers to see, we did address your concerns on the taste and we did test your water when we visited you, it showed a perfect result. As talked about you seem to have problems with water with minerals, which you agreed to, as brands like Fiji, Evian and other don't suite your taste. As all of our literature states that you still have minerals in the water and you must maintain your heating elements in kettles or coffee pots, we find it alarming that you blame us for those issues. Lastly you mentioned extra cleaning in your toilets, dishwasher, etc, yes we have removed chlorine and other contaminants so bacteria can grow in stagnant water such as a toilet. Vinegar is easily used in appliances like a dishwasher and this helps clean off food and oils that flatware and dishes leave behind. Again I'm sorry you are unhappy with the minerals in the water, but all we can do is make your water cleaner. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to call us (760) 994-4795. Having had whole home water treatment systems previously, we decided to get one installed after about a year living in a home in Carmel Valley. Our water was very hard, leaving rings around toilets and lots of soap scum on glass shower doors. We would drink the water from our refrigerator's built in filter, but not from the faucet. We had previous bad experiences with salt-based water systems (water tastes salty, it's not good for you, and it's a pain to maintain the salt in the system) and good experience with conditioning anti-scale systems like One Water provides (good results and no maintenance). I called the office, and Jen set me up with an appointment a week later for Kevin, the owner to come out to explain the system and installation options. He provided a quote with an Angie's list discount. After reviewing other options for a day, we called the office to provide a deposit and set up an installation appointment. The installation took place one week later. The installer came to the house in the 9-10am window that was promised and finished just before noon. Upon completion he checked the water for me and provided the instruction manual (there really is not much maintenance because they do a free check up every year) and what to expect over the next several weeks. It has now been just over 6 weeks since installation. Our experience has been very good and I'm happy with the performance of the system. We can drink water from any faucet. This makes it much faster to fill up water bottles for school lunches and sports (no more waiting for the small stream from the fridge). Hair is more manageable. My daughter says her eczema-prone skin feels softer. The shower doors are staying spot-free with use of Shower Clean spray after showering. The toilets are also staying clean, we are using a bleach tablet as recommended. This company was very easy to work with and I would recommend them.
they are located near the coast so they are unfamiliar with where Lowes is. With that said, installation went well. I pushed to get new copper piping as we were taking out my old unit. I didn't argue the price asked, but I expect superior installation and superior service. I also have an undersink unit where the owner says to take out and plumber says its up to me. So I left it. Hmmmm. Hope I made the right decision. They would have had to go to plumbing store to do it perfectly for me. They are all very nice, hardworking. Most importantly I already had a back flush unit I was taking out due to age, and this unit is a really nice one. I'd do it again. Really nice water in the whole house including spigots on the house. But does not include irrigation system. This is the water I wanted and my hair my skin and my dishes are all perfect now. 10 year warranty, no maintenance and a yearly checkup included.
The owner came and explained, what his system is going to do. He was not pushy like many others I had called before him. He was pleasant and easy to work with. I had done lot of home work before he was called and found him very honest and no exaggerations, which I liked so we gave him the contract.
The technician came on time, he was very professional and pleasant. The electrician was not going to come till later in the evening, we had some plans so asked if he can come earlier, some how he manged to come .The work took longer than expected to finish, but I am pleased with it.
I felt instant change in the water as I washed my hands, the water felt
sticky, but now my skin does not dry out. The glasses in the dishwasher
are spotless. I rated the quality as' B' because I do not like the taste
of water.
Response from One Water Systems
"Thank-you for the feedback and great comments. We're glad everything has worked out well but are disappointed that you are not liking the taste. Our records show that we removed an under the sink reverse osmosis unit, and as you know that water eliminated all alkaline and minerals leaving the water acidic, giving a very "flat" taste. The water from our machine is allowing the proper P.H. balance and normal alkaline, giving a more natural taste, remember our units cannot "add" to the water only take away, so the water you are experiencing is subjective to taste preference. Acidic water, most bottled water, and R/O is never recommended by many health studies including the World Health Organization, so give the filtered water some more time, and I am sure we will see a happy customer who also loves the taste. Let us know, we will be in touch. Thanks again Kevin and the team at One Water Systems."

Overall not a good experience. Wouldn't recommend.
The overall price is expensive, even after discount. As mentioned by previous reviewer, they will try to push you to sign the
contract during the first appointment. Btw, they typically offer better discount in local magazine than here, say $700 vs $600.
For the products, the water filtration should be able to filter chlorine and heavy metals. It's very matured technique used by all the water filter products on the market. They can't test whether heavy metal is removed, but they will do the simple tests to check if the water still has chlorine. But here is the argument, the chlorine is added in the water to kill bacteria, if the system removes the chlorine, then does the water filtered by the system still as healthy as they claim? Yes, the water right after the system is ok, but how about the water in the pipe? will the bacteria grow in the pipe?
During the appointment, they claimed that their water system can generate water with well-balanced PH value, and they did the test for the water PH value, which is around 7.5. But actually later we figured out that the reason that PH value is good is simply because it is good even before the water system. We did the test, and the company staff came later and did the same test, we both found the PH value is about same before and after the water system. So basically the water system has nothing to do the PH value, you get what you originally get.
For the hard water treatment, actually in the beginning, we didn't have plan to install hard water treatment, but during the appointment, they claim how bad the hard water is, and how good their product is, so eventually we also bought the hard water treatment device. Bad decision!! They said the water in San Diego is very hard, which can clog your water pipe, damage your skin. But in terms of clogging water pipe, later when I talked with my friends, some guys, who have been living in San Diego for more than 30, 40 years and live in 1950s houses, said they never found clogged pipe and they don't even have any kind water treatment system at home. One guy mentioned he even cut the water pipe before, and found it's very clean inside.
Ok, at least, it can still damage the skin. Well, is it true? It actually all depends on how good the hard water treatment is. As they claimed, the device can make the hard water "softer". However, as they mentioned during the appointment, the device changes the format of the mineral, instead of removing it. Thus the mineral is clearly still in the water in whatever format, the amount of the mineral is same. So where does the "make hard water softer" come from??? The water is hard or soft is only checked by the mineral amount, not matter what kind of format. Actually if you google their patent, which is highlighted in their website, the patent US 8157971 B2, "Electronic pool water treatment system" background mainly talks about the "de-scaling". Therefore, the system has nothing to do with the "water softening". What they claimed was very misleading!!
Response from One Water Systems
"Dear confused member [removed member name], Our data base doesn't show you as a customer or that we have installed at your address,so it would be fair to assume that judging our company can only be from what you have read. I'd like to respond and correct your misunderstandings. We cannot install our systems in an apartment as the water line is normally shared and you are not responsible for the utility repairs or bills. All of my employees recommend that everyone does their own research and never pressure anyone into buy now or else, we offer sales and discounts but always offer the current discount advertised, if you were a customer you would know that. Our certified media is able to remove chlorine, V.O.C.'s and heavy metals, and if you were a customer you would know we can show and test for that claim. Your misunderstanding of bacteria in water once the chlorine is removed is valid, but water sitting still, exposed to oxygen will eventually grow algae and bacteria. Your plumbing fixtures aren't allowing for sitting water and unless you have a hole in one, creating a leak,no oxygen can get to your water until you turn on the faucet, again this would be a test that can be performed if needed. As our machine uses an activated carbon as well as other media, you are correct in saying that the P.H. Is the same as the pre-water to the machine, the test that we can do free every year is check that it is still safe and have the safe P.H. and proper alkalinity for all. The reason that we check it is the alkaline can change if the carbon becomes defective. You should never have acidic, low P.H. water ever. Our hard water device that thousands of our customers love and appreciate, is doing what you say, it is changing the hard minerals from the corrosive form to the un corrosive form, if you were a customer you would also be able to see the results. You say that many of your friends have never seen corrosion in there plumbed pipes without any water treatment system! This is where I have to dispute what you and your friends say.... If that was true then plumbers and copper pipe manufacturers would be almost out of business, perhaps you are talking to your neighbors in the apartment complex you live in, as they don't have to maintain their plumbing as our customers have to. Finally you claim that our calcium control unit is patented to descale pool fixtures, it is,as well as any fixture that carries water, it also has many awards and certification from independent agencies. Tiana when you are ready to install our system we would be happy to help you with your questions and offer you our advertised pricing and give you the best warranty in the business and promise no magnets, salts or maintenance to do. Not forgetting the free water test and inspections every year. Oh yes as listed and on our paperwork access to me the owner Kevin Worsfold, kw@onewatersystems.com direct line #760-458-6799 Always accessible always here to help, customers already know this. Thank-you for you time."

"[Member name removed], We are sorry to hear that you don’t like your water. As you know, we have been performing your annual checkups every year and you have referred friends and family during that time. However, we have tried to reach you via phone, email and USPS mail for your most recent inspection, but have had no response.
