From the beginning the contractor had issues. They took on more than they could complete. They sent generalists to the job who did a terrible job at almost any task that was done such that remediation will be expensive and hard to find a decent contractor to complete correctly. In no circumstance would we use this contractor again and we would strongly recommend others do not use them as well.

This project was to start right when covid shut downs began and shut downs occurred. The $2500 worth of doors were delivered in March and left outside uncovered in the weather and placed in such a manner that they could warp. I eventually covered and changed the position of the doors when another contractor pointed out that these could be damaged the way they were haphazardly placed. When the work finally commenced on July 14, 2020 the previous outdoor pad was removed and a new pad poured which would now be inside of my new handicap/wheelchair entry. This thin pad was poured way above the frost line. I questioned the sub contractor (his first job with Pa Certified) about the thin pad heaving he assured me that "it's ok, it will now be inside so won't be effected by freezing temps". The pad did heave as soon as the cold weather set in and the whole project was now ill fitting. The wind blows through visible gaps in the door and through the framing around the door. Glenn, supervisor came out twice to try and stop the airflow and both times did not solve the problem. He pretty much left the question of the warped doors up in the air. I got the impression that I was on my own after his second visit. He showed my how to "tweak" the doors by grabbing them and abruptly jerking them to get them to bend into better shape. (I did not do this, I paid them to make them fit.) After several calls and texts I was assured that Mike (owner) would be out to check it out but to date I have not received a call or text. Today is 4/12 and the last time I heard from Mike he was going to call me on 3/18. I have taken a number of short videos and put them on a youtube channel to demonstrate the below freezing temperature of the floor inside my house, the subfreezing temperatures of the wall between the newly installed doors, the visible gaps that let enough wind blow through to blow out a candle, the squeal of the threshold when opening the door, the difference in the gap between the frame and opposing door clearly visible from top to bottom and a square showing how out of plumb the doors and frame actually are. Both doors have a standard door knob and dead bolt. One of the doors will not latch with the door knob. It will only stay closed with the dead-bolt. This addition is close to my cold air return for my heat pump so that cold air is actually causing my heat pump to artificially work that much harder. The resolution that I seek is that this whole project is re-done so that it does not expand and contract with the cold weather. I would like that the newly framed in walls stay just as warm as the rest of my 100 year old home the floors are not literally below freezing and that the doors are actually fitted squarely and close properly with all of the hardware functioning properly. The only part of this project that was successful is the wheelchair ramp. This simple project was finally "finished" on August 14th fully 6 plus months after writing my first contractually agreed upon 1/3 payment. (then 1/3 when started, and 1/3 when done.)

If you want your project completed in a timely manner, DO NOT USE THIS CONTRACTOR. A 5x8 bathroom with no new tiles, floor, or toilet needed after 9+ weeks never completed. Work had to stop for 2 weeks due to electrical issues. After that it was all downhill as Mike took on new jobs and we were placed on the back burner. Mike never initiated calls to us re: day/time workers would come. When they did come they worked 1 to 4 hours, completing 1 task per day. I took off from work on numerous occasions, coming from out of state to accommodate them. Unfortunately, Mike would not accommodate me. Terrible staff time management, work was average. Realizing that we were not a priority, I was forced to give him an ultimatum to finish by a certain date which he made no effort to accommodate. He asked us to reconsider our deadline to a date a week later, saying "that is the best I can do." What!? That is the best HE can do, am I working for him? I told him "no", keep the deposit on the 2 other jobs he was going to do, have not heard from him since Oct., and am glad to be done with him. I do not recommend him at all.

Mike, Matt and Glen were very eager and helpful to get our job done right. We were thankful for all their help on choosing the right materials for our project and for not being pushy or using some unscrupulous sales tactics. From the moment we decided to move forward the process went very quickly and painlessly. Luis and his men were the installers and they did an absolutely fabulous job. Their attention to detail was amazing. We are very happy with our decision to move forward with PA Certified Contractors. We appreciated everything!

I hired this contractor Mike to build a 3-season sunroom on my deck in early June. He asked for 40% of the total cost to start. When I told him that I wasn’t comfortable with that and ask if we could split the three payments into thirds, he told me he could not start the job without 40%. He promised a start date of July 27th. When July 27th came and went, I contacted him to find out when the project would begin. I was told that he had to check on the permits. I was told that the permit applications were submitted to my township in mid-July. To make a very long story short, the contractor strung me alone for weeks with claims that he was in contact with the township and believed that the permits would be issued any day. Over a month after the agreed upon start date, I contacted the township admin office and found out that they had contacted the contractor weeks earlier for additional drawing views and the contractor did not respond. When I shared this with the contractor, he called the township official "a lying B*** …. it was a good thing I had a witness." Once the drawings were submitted the zoning permits were issued. However, what the contractor failed to share was the building permits application was not submitted until August 12th. By September 11th, the contractor was asked to respond to about five concerns regarding his plan, so the building permit could be issued. Instead of responding to these concerns the contractor kept telling me that I needed a site inspection. Mike sent workers out to my house twice to expose the piers of my deck in preparation for the inspection. When the building permit inspectors arrived at my home, they informed me that 1) The piers were not dug out to the required 40 inches, so they had no choice, but to fail me for the inspection. 2)That as building inspectors they do not conduct pre-inspections. The contractor called their office, specifically requested the inspection and was told that they had to pay $60. 3) Pre-inspections are not part of the permit process. This is something I asked the contractor about on more than one occasion and never received a definitive answered. I informed Mike immediately about the failed inspection. Over a week later, I still had no word from Mike in regard to the building permit or a start date for my project. At this point, it was mid-October and over three months since I signed my contact. With no clear path for moving forward and after checking in with the township's building veritas to find out that the contractor still had not responded to their concerns---I felt I had no choice, but to cancel the contact and ask for a return of my deposit. The contractor immediately responded that he wasn't going to lose over 40 hours of work and claimed he would email me his expenses. That was over a week ago and the contractor has not responded to my SMS or emails since. I am pretty sure this will have to be resolved in court. This contractor made a lot of excuses for not securing the permits, but there was always no follow through. Recently, I read another negative review of this contractor and wished I saw it before I hired him. He wasn’t rude to me directly, but he was often unprofessional (name calling and teasing the slow manner that the building inspector spoke). More importantly, he was disingenuous in regard to the purpose of the pre-inspection and the permit acquisition process. And most likely in an attempt to keep my deposit (over 5K), he has stopped communicating. Therefore, I cannot recommend this contractor or his workers.

It was not good. He didn't complete the job. He supposed to come back and do another room, but he refused to come back. I would like him to come back, and complete the job, but if he doesn't want to, then he needs to return my money. He doesn't have a pleasant attitude.
