"This job had a lot of extensive work which took more time than I anticipated because it’s like cancer, it often spreads. The window sill in the LR, had damage on the sill and under the sill. Once you start using a 5 in 1 and scrape out the damaged area, it went from what appeared to be a 4-10 inch fix, and turned out to be a 2-3 foot fix. These types of repairs take time. You cannot always see from the outside, what the total damage is on the inside until you get into the job. Another area which did take more time was the ceiling in the kitchen. The sheet rock had been put up by an amateur, and it was a ¾” to 1” gap between the sheet rock. This is not acceptable, and I also underestimated the repair time on this. It only had 3 applications and it definitely needs at least a couple more. When they took the TV down, there were holes which also needed repair, thus more time. I was originally told by the customer that the job needed to be completed by the end of the day on Thursday. Then while we were way into the job, she said it needed to be completed a day sooner, on Wednesday. I tried to remain optimistic, and told her that the appraiser didn’t have to have that work done to do their appraisal. I called her back after the fact, and the customer admitted that I was right and the appraiser told her it wasn’t necessary. She still wanted the work completed early, so it was not what I would have liked to put my “signature” on, which is why I told her I would come back when the appraisal was done. I told her I didn’t care if it was 2 weeks later or 6 months later, when she was ready, I’d come back. The customer said she would contact me in about a month to come back. I discovered almost about 1 month later that the check had bounced. I called her, and she said she had put a stop on the check, and then recanted it, so she didn’t know why it didn’t go through. I asked her when she wanted me to come back (and I asked at least 4 or 5 times total) telling her that the ceiling needs more applications. She said she would contact me in about a month. She did pay me, but said she was only going to pay $1500 of the $2100 job. I said it was not acceptable, but because I wasn’t able to get it totally done in the new timeframe, I would take $300 off, making it $1800. It took about 6 weeks to be paid on that job, but it was satisfied. I also did extra work while I was there, and painted the kitchen door, the runners up the stairwell and the backs of the stairs, touched up the stairwell walls, and cleaned under her fridge. I have not been called back as yet. This job is NOT complete. I think my reviews speak for themselves, and the grade the customer gave me is NOT my usual work. I need the opportunity to finish, and I feel sure that she wouold be satisfied, if I were given the opportunity to come back as we discussed."
