Buyer beware! As a professional contractor and project manager, this is by far the worst painter I have ever seen. My wife (an architect) agrees. The business owner (Charles Rakosky) has demanded that we not post any reviews. As a veteran, I find it regrettable that someone would try and silence those who need to speak out to warn others of a bad experience. Mr. Rakosky says that our “expectations [for quality] are not reasonable”. See the photos and decide for yourself! The job started on 6 July 2022, and as early as 7/19 we were told the project would be “done tomorrow”. This continued until 8/11. So all the photos after this date are of the “finished product”. The workers arrived late or abandoned the job many times, failed many times to prep and/or prime before painting, to protect surfaces from paint splatter/over-spray, to clean up, to use correct materials, and to apply paint correctly (for example, much paint was applied in the heat of the afternoon, often in direct sunlight). Our Sherwin-Williams Paint Rep (and the SW website), says this will likely cause improper bonding of the paint. Already there are spots where the new paint is bubbling! Loose paint and old wood that were supposed to be removed were instead just painted over. I received a written complaint from a worker that he had not been paid by this business (said he quit for this very reason). Paint and liquid waste were repeatedly dumped in multiple locations all over our yard and never cleaned up (except by me). A huge amount of paint chips (potentially lead-based, as the home was built prior to 1978) were allowed to fall in the yard, with no attempts to collect with a drop cloth. After weeks of demanding cleanup, one worker finally spent about 45 minutes cleaning SOME of the debris. The rest were left in place. Besides our environmental concerns, we have a small pet dog so this is especially upsetting. We had personal property that was damaged, for which we had to demand reimbursement. Our home was used in promotional videos posted online without our permission, which were not taken down after our demands to do so. There were allegations of material theft from our back yard by a worker, which compelled us to bolt our fence gate shut to protect ourselves and our property. There was no safety plan for working in the extreme heat that we could tell, and one worker suffered a heat injury requiring medical attention on this job. We repeatedly requested that work start prior to 830 when the temps were cooler (or at least not run so late into the afternoon), and were denied. We proposed many solutions that were ignored or refused, such as; setting a schedule, supplementing the work force to accelerate progress, work 5 days a week, on-site supervision of the work in progress, working in a set sequence around the house, prepping and protecting prior to painting and many others. We did everything we could to help expedite the work (even doing some of the work ourselves, documenting, marking incomplete and defective items for the workers, and removing work from the scope). After almost 6 weeks of a nightmare, we finally decided that we had enough, and that we would finish the rest of the work ourselves (or with another painter). In essence, we basically paid this company to go away in order to end a very stressful situation. In our opinion, Mr. Rakosky was using unethical and aggressive means in order to coerce us into paying for incomplete and defective work at this point. I ended up telling him to stay away from my family and my home, and warned my neighbors to look out for him. I have never felt the need to do this with anyone else in my life. I have since sourced one bid (so far) from another paint company on the cost to fix this mess, and it looks like it will cost almost as much as the original prices we got for painting and repairs. (This does not even include the costs to finish removing paint splatter / overspray, clean windows or remove the remaining paint chips and contaminated soil from the dumping.)
