"yes I remember this customer well, lets start with the customers description. She said hose bib repair, this is false, it was leak in the copper main water line coming into the house, which I repaired, it took about an hour. i then turned the water on to check it and my repair held and was not leaking, I then proceeded to clean up and the customer and I talked about the bill and I told her $135 that is my normal hourly rate and she said ok. after about 5 minutes she noticed water coming up out of the ground. so I then turned the water off, dug up the line which turned into galvanized piping underground, the threaded nipple had worn a hole in the pipe that had most likely been there since the house was built in the 70,s perfectly normal for a galvanized line underground to do so. I then proceeded to repair it and told customer that I needed to go to the parts house to get the parts needed. to the best of my memory the parts were around $20 , then came back and made the second repair and tested line and there were no more leaks. The customer then asked how much the price was and I told her $280 , it added up to be more than that but I thought I'd give her little break for being a first time customer, the parts total should have been around $40 considering the fitting and pipe i used on the first repair and the second one. It was then that she started accusing me of causing the second leak . Well you know what , I did tell her thats plumbing for ya. when you repair one thing another often fails down the line , yep that happens often, but I am often praised for doing a good job with the repair, that was not the case here. she started yelling at me calling me names, acting as if I intentionally broke her pipes just to scam her out of money, that is pathetic! I've been a plumber for 40 years now and my customers love me. I went out of my way to put this customer at the top of my list because I knew she had water leaking bad at her main line, I first told her it would be around 4-5 days for me to show up. well after being cussed like a dog and her screaming at me in front of the neighbors to get off her property and never come back thats exactly what I gladly did without one word back to her, needless to say I will not go back to this crazy woman's house ever again. some people expect professionals to do work for free, im not a handyman, im a licensed plumber and we do charge our prices for our expertise because we have the knowledge to get the job done, no matter the circumstance.
