I bought a $99 special deal for $200 worth of work. I didn't use the deal within the specified time frame. Contractor would not refund my $99, or do the work for that amount. He told me I would have to contact Angie's List for a refund. It took months and multiple contacts with Angie's List to finally have my money refunded. The contractor made a deal and should have stood by it even if was after the deadline, , , business is business. I wound up going to another contractor and had him do additional work totaling over $3,000. Parro's loss.

From the moment he arrived it was almost like working with an old friend. He did all the measurements within a short amount of time, made a complete list of everything needed and we went to Home Depot together because I had a gift card and I get a Vet discount on the parts. The work was all completed within about 3 1/2 hours. I made the est that it would take almost 8, but then I do not have a completely full truck with the exact right tools for the job. That included drilling through concrete blocks and pipe benders and concrete studs that were needed. The work was completed, he departed with the work space that included the entire back side of my house, spotless. I'm looking at another A/C installation in the near future & this will be my first call. Gus

He did a really great job because the old light was self-done and the walls and ceiling are very thin. He improvised rather than saying he couldn't get it done and, again, I really love the difference. Super nice guy too - very polite but friendly.

Everything on the list was completed in the 8-hour time frame. I was very pleasantly surprised that Mark got to every item. The ceiling fans installation required follow-up drywall and paint work in order to mask the new wiring run (as if it had never happened!), and I elected to have my good friends at Success Painting (another Angie's List affiliate and one that I have used many times) complete that task. It looks like all of the items installed by Mark have always been there. Very Pleased!

He was late and talked on the phone for the last ten minutes. The quality of work was fine.
Response from Parrco Electric
"Wow! Drove 50 miles in the middle of rush hour traffic at 3:00 pm. Because that’s when she wanted the work to be done and she contacted us right after she purchased and... I tried to accommodate her. Placed her ahead of other people that had purchased before her. Installed one awkward to install ceiling fan that i had never seen before. Previous to this one, I though I had seen them all. With a universal remote no less. Removed an existing chandelier in kitchen and installed a new one out of the box. Removed an existing chandelier in living room on a high ceiling and covered the box. Did about three hours of work in two. I simply answered the phone as I was gathering my tools and putting them away. The whole conversation took about 3 mins. In that time there’s no way I could have installed a fourth fan that she had lined-up. Besides, when I arrived I told her only two of the items could be done in that time and I did three. Her response was...”whatever you don’t finish-up - I’ll hire another electrician to do so”. Therefore, I didn’t even attempt to take out the fourth fan out of the box because that’s all that I would have been able to do. I then asked - that is all - right? And she said “yes, thank you very much”. This is one of those that you just can’t figure out."

He was very flexible on scheduling and on time for his appointment. I had to leave him at the house with my brother while I went to went work that day. Everything went as planned, and I came home to the lighting installed and working perfectly. I was pleased with his work and hired Javier again to install more lighting. Again, great job. Fast forward a few months, and I was up in the attic to clear some space for storage. As I looked around, I noticed I have a thick layer of cellulose insulation blown in throughout the attic. What caught my attention, is that in the area where the three recessed lights installed, I had personally provided the housings for these lights. I had bought the Non-IC rated housings, as I wanted the air-tight model and the retailer did not have any IC rated air-tight models in stock. For those who do not know, the Non-IC rating, means you cannot install in, or within 3 inches of insulation. This should not be a problem for a licensed electrician, however, I was curious and after digging down through approx 2 feet of insulation, found all three light housings directly buried in contact with the insulation. After finding this I removed insulation around light fixtures and installed a barrier to keep insulation away from lights. The only reason I believe have been okay this long, is because I had LED lights installed in the cans which run cooler than halogen. This is still against code since these are the retrofit style fixture and a standard halogen bulb can still be screwed in if desired. This was a serious fire hazard and should have been noticed and prevented by Javier. Terrible workmanship on his part, and he put lives and my property at unnecessary risk. This has forced me to throughly re-check all of his work and unfortunately, I will not use Parrco Electric again due to this mishap.

"I'm sorry this took place however, when we installed the lights, an insulation cabity was created. It is possible that the insulation collapsed over the lights after we installed them. You mentioned that you have about two feet of insulation and the lights you provided were small 4" remodel type cans that only allow you to put your fist arm through the whole to push insulation away. It's been a long time and I don't recall weather the bulbs were led or halogens originally installed, thus being the reason that the insulation was brown but it would not have flared-up as it is non flammable. Whith halogen bulbs...it has been our experience that even the drywall around the light fixtures brown-up but never catch on fire. That is why we always provide IC rated light fixtures with LED bulbs to avoid anything like this from occurring. I only wish that you would have contacted me to address this rather than go online to misinform the public about us. We take pride in our installations as I think our reviews show. And safety is our number one priority."

He had an offer that I took advantage of. The original offer was for eight hours of labor for $399 and I signed up for that. We were in the process of doing a massive remodeling, and we were going to have rewiring done. It ran over the hour and plus the material. I have no complaint about the cost.

Javier Parra took a fairly lengthy list of issues, and systematically and thoroughly resolved each one; willingly answering questions and providing clear explanations along the way. Not only was it a huge relief to have a myriad of much needed 'fixes' completed, it was a very educational and enjoyable experience. He developed a list of materials/parts and made the trip to obtain them, returning with the receipt (and we learned of a hardware store branch 1/2 the distance from our home of the one I've been using for the past 4 years!!) - this was soooo appreciated. Some businesses we've dealt with make the homeowner obtain and provide the materials - a real pet peeve. It was a triple digit temp day, but Javier spent the hours needed to troubleshoot and resolve the issues of a rather convoluted exterior lighting system. A bonus of his professionalism and helpfulness - about a week later, I called him and asked him if he could give me advice over the phone about the sudden loss of outlet power in a large room containing multiple lamps. He talked me through it, with very clear directions and encouraged me to call back if I needed further help. After several long jaunts back and forth between that room and the circuit breaker box on the far opposite end of the house, testing each of 6 different outlets/fixtures through the process of elimination, I found the 'culprit' outlet and restored power to all the rest !!
