Path Hardwood Floors

We had a great experience with Path Hardwood floors. Not only did they provide an affordable quote but they took care of everything we needed and did an excellent job on our flooring. They were much more flexible than other companies in terms of working with our schedule and needs. Allen was very pleasant throughout the project. Highly recommend!

Allen kept me informed during each step of the process. ...letting me know time frames which helped with my schedule. Allen worked with us on the stain color and it came out great. It was clear that Alllen took a lot of pride in his work and valued having the job done right.

We purchased this home on a Friday and decided earlier that week that the hardwood floors needed to be refinished before we moved in the following week. Allen stepped up and offered to do the job over the weekend. The house is nearly 100 years old and it looked like a previous owner tried to refinish the floors themselves and it showed. The rooms also have baseboard heat so it made the job a little more tricky. Allen was hoping that he'd be able to get a smooth finish and in the end, the floor looked 1000% better. Allen truly did appear to love his job and in today's society, how many contractors would give up their weekend.

We had a very tight and inflexible schedule due to moving shortly and Allen worked with us to get this project done in time. The results were great, exactly what we had expected, and at a reasonable rate. Would definitely recommend this company for refinishing.

Alan did a great job - recommend and would use again

Allen was very responsive throughout. I consulted with him prior to custom ordering the flooring whick took 3 months to manufacture and ship. Allen and crew did a very craftsman-like job of prep and installation. All joints are very tight. He did a remarkable job of fitting around the new oak air registers and doorways. I might have found someone who would charge less, but I was happy to pay a fair price for high quality work. We are very happy with the quality of his work and the attention to detail. I highly recommend Path Hardwood Floors.

Overall everything went great. It took 2 days for our living room and dining room to have the carpet removed and floors finished. Just another day for the coating to dry (could have been done as soon as coating dried but we decided to wait just to be safe) and they came back and helped move some of the furniture back. The price and quality were all top notch and they were very friendly (even though my dog was not). I would definitely use them again and recommend them to anyone that needs similar service.

Great. Allen did an awesome job. My floors were damaged and water stained. I could not believe when I return home I was looking at the same floors. Allen's attention to detail and guiding us in picking the perfect stain made the outcome spectacular !

Allan did an awesome job!!! He has a sander to strip the old finish that leaves no dust! Amazing! I'm already planning next years project and Path will be a major part of it! Allan was professional and respectful of my dog, my daughter and my wife. We couldn't be happier!!!

Allen of Path Hardwood floors was great to deal with. We had a specific window of time before we moved into our new home to get the work done, and Allen was on time and on schedule throughout. The finished results were awesome (he matched the stairs/railings to the darker floors throughout the first floor of the house) and contrary to my expectations given the amount of sanding required, there was almost zero dust/dirt. Thorough cleanup afterwards as well. I would definitely recommend Path Hardwood Floors.

We had a great experience with Allen. I contacted him via email, and he called me back almost immediately. Allen came out the following week to take measurements and give us an estimate on removing our carpet and refinishing the existing hardwood floors underneath it. His pricing was very reasonable, and he assured us that he could have the project finished before we moved into our new home. He started the project the following weekend, and worked hard for the whole weekend. Allen was always able to find time in his schedule to get to our project, and complete it by the time we wanted to move in to the house. He was able to remove the carpet, repair several spots of hardwood (which, after it was stained, blended in perfectly with the rest of the floor), and sand the floors that weekend. Throughout the following week, he stopped back several times to stain and apply three coats of polyurethane. The floors looked fantastic after he was finished with them. We would highly recommend Allen, and in fact already have to family. He clearly loves what he does, and takes the time to make sure his work is top notch.

The response to my initial inquiry was almost immediate, I called in the morning and was contacted that afternoon. An appointment was set for inspection two days later and an a estimate was sent to me by email that evening. I had been given another quote a week prior. Path gave me a more competive price and provided a thorough breakdown of the whole process. Any question I posed was answered, the explanations made sense to me and I was able to be confident in the decisions I was making. I gave a deposit to secure a start date. The job was completed within the time frame I was told it would be which was faster than the higher priced outfit. The years of experience were evident in the quality of the finished procduct. I could not tell where the damaged areas had been by looking at the floor.I knew where they had been but the blend was so well done no one else could have told the difference. The areas worked on were left tidy at a days end. <br />

When we went looking for a house, one of my top priorities was beautiful hardwood floors. We found the home that we were looking for in the form of a 130 year-old carriage house in the Tacony section of Philadelphia. I already had a good general contractor but wanted an to find an expert in refinishing old hardwood floors. We were referred to Allen Kelvy of Path Hardwood Floors by friends that he had recently worked for and we were told that he had done great job for them. <br /> From the moment he entered our house, we were confident that we had made the best decision in calling on him. He was highly knowledgeable about the heart pine floors throughout the house and described how he would go about refinishing the wood with a real enthusiasm for the work and an appreciation of the house. And, his quote for the work was just within our budget. <br /> I had already scheduled our contractor to begin repairs and painting within twp weeks. At my request, Allen re-arranged his work schedule to begin the work on the floors that same weekend and he never missed a beat. He gave me a sanded floor sample choice of four different stain options in addition to the warm cinnamon stain that I had first described just to be sure that I would be pleased with the results. He finished the entire house within the week that he had committed to even though it frequently meant working late into the evening. <br /> We are thrilled with the results and with his work. I would recommend Path Hardwood Floors to anyone who wants to bring out and preserve the beauty of their older wood floors by working with a real pro. We plan to call on Allen in the future to help us maintain the beauty of our floors as years go by. <br />

I received three quotes on finishing the floors in my new home. Allan was not the least expensive, but I liked his attitude and demeanor and he said he wold be able to do the work in 3 days. He showed up a little late the first day but that was because it was raining and traffic was a nightmare and a 45 minute trip took almost 2 hours. However, he stayed until well past 9 pm to finish the sanding. He also repaired one part of the floor beautifully! Initially, we asked him to do three rooms, the hallway and the stairs. After he started, we asked him to do one other room and he was just as gracious as could be, and still managed to get the work done in the three days we needed. We had just three days to get all the floors refinished before we moved in and he worked 12 hours to get the majority sanded in one day and then he did a beautiful job sealing them. He did a great job and I would hire him again in a minute! <br />

I had used Allen before to install a new floor in a bedroom, refinish another bedroom and refinish the family room floor, plus install trim in those rooms (in fall 2010), I called him again when it was time to do the next round of work. <br /> Allen is a great guy, and really seems to enjoy refinishing hardwood floors (a job that other contractors shy away from). When I did price comparisons in 2010, his charges were fully a third less than the other three companies I received estimates from. (I did not do any additional price shopping this time.) <br /> Allen had bit of a scheduling issue with another client. He had originally hoped to do the work in October, but let me know there would be a delay, and I told him that my timing was not critical, so he did not need to prioritize my work. Around Thanksgiving, he let me know that he had a delay on another job, and would like to start. We ripped up the old carpet and were ready the Monday after Thanksgiving. <br /> As agreed, my kids and I went to stay at a friend's house while the work was done, but I stopped by every day. With Allen, I find it useful to check on the work as it goes along. His prices are very good, but the quality can be a bit inconsistent. I'm a bit of a and quot;champagne taste, beer budgetand quot; person, so I checked on things as they went along and corrections were made as I requested. The finished work is not perfect, but is very good -- truly wonderful considering the price that he charged. <br /> In 2010, he worked alone, but this time he had an assistant, Mike, who did all the trim installation. After Allen had the trim delivered, I painted it and then Mike cut and installed it. This worked pretty well, except that at that late time in the season, the weather did not always cooperate, and I had to do much of the painting in my living room (with two layers of drop cloths over the newly-refinished floor). I will never again undertake major home renovation between Thanksgiving and Christmas - too stressful! <br /> We were out of the house for five days, a day longer than I had planned, but manageable. We were without a living room for three more weeks, due to the painting (and the weather) and Mike and Allen's schedule. That really wore on my nerves, but I saved a lot of money by painting the trim myself. The final work (tacking down the free edge of the remaining carpet) was completed at noon on Christmas Eve and I was delighted to be able to show off the and quot;newand quot; floors to my family. <br /> I really enjoy the floors! I will call Allen again when my kids are older and we reclaim the the final room from the old wall-to-wall carpeting -- the playroom. <br /> <br /> <br />
