Patio Enclosures

Do not buy these metal boxes as they require much specialized maintenance. They use caulk to hold these things together which breaks down quickly. I have one in a house we recently bought and it's a nightmare, thus I have been dealing with these clowns since Nov. 2018. If they do come out to repair, they bring their caulk guns and grossly overcharge knowing it's very temporary. Then they sit back and wait for the next call, while a great business model for them, it's horrible for the customer. I spoke with their "regional manager" and he is pretty much the typical patronizing clown you would expect from a company like this, a flurry of canned excuses, shrugs and chuckles which all lead back to more grossly overpriced maintenance. After spending $560 on a caulk session I found this (see photo below), they offered to have one of the clowns come out on a unicycle and give me a price on redoing the whole structure. Do yourself a favor, DO NOT BUY!!! P.S. Free Patio Enclosure, you tear down and haul.

Company refused to honor a warranty that clearly covered the defective window pane (seepage due to a faulty seal) on the excuse the original franchisee had been replaced - another scam warranty!

Very professional work from sales to design, supervising, installation and clean-up!

<p>They did a decent job overall they didn't measure the windows correctly a first, wanted to charge me for the fill in pieces, I had to complaint. Then they came and redid the windows. There is a couple of cracks in the windows, I had to re-cement small areas, but overall they were ok. Problems started when the lock they provided for the sliding door broke. Apparently, you can't get this lock anywhere but them, it is their proprietary lock! We went to home depot, local locksmith, nobody has any idea about this lock. I called the company and told the guy that a little spring in the mechanism broke. He had no idea what I was talking about, talked about the truck that was going to deliver parts. I gave him my number, told him that I would like to lock my porch. Didn't get a call for two days. Then I called the corporate number, which is provided on the part page, but the girl had no idea. Now its on my second week nobody called me, I'll have to change the lock completely.</p> <p>These people only want to take your money initially, but really don't want to service their products. There is no parts, no technical service, nothing. If I knew, I would make them put the generic lock that I can buy parts for. </p> <p>It is obnoxious to make your own product, that you wouldn't be able to go to anyone else and not service it.</p> <p>I will never buy from them again.</p> <p><br></p>

This company built the "Florida room" in our house 20 years ago. This spring the room started leaking badly from several different areas. 20 years seemed like a pretty good life span for what is essentially a glass box placed on the deck, so I contacted them to come out to do some repairs. Getting a response from them was nearly impossible. I was told twice someone would call me back to schedule the next day, which no one did either time. A week later when I finally called yet again, I was told the appointment had been scheduled for "sometime next week" and that they would call me on Monday to tell me when. No phone call, again. When I called that Wednesday I was told it was scheduled for "sometime Thursday or Friday" and they'd call me back that day. Of course no one called back to tell me when. That Thursday I called and cancelled the whole thing because I was tired of chasing them down and playing phone tag for THREE WEEKS while my sunroom poured in water. The person I talked to when I cancelled actually said "I hope you consider us for any other sunroom needs," which might be the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. I called another company, who called back (because that's what professionals do), scheduled an appointment (with an actual time and day!!), and fixed the sunroom roof. Which, come to find out, was not even properly built by Patio Enclosure in the first place.  <br /> Yesterday, now weeks later, I receive an email out of nowhere saying they were trying to schedule repairs for the next day and asked me to confirm "by email or phone ASAP". I was not able to call right then so I sent back an email exactly 40 minutes later saying most of what is in this review and that there was no way I was interested in having them work on my home.  <br /> I came home today and there are 2 guys in a Patio Enclosures truck in my driveway. I got out of the car and told them I was sorry they showed up because I cancelled and repair work 3 weeks ago and had also replied yesterday that I didn't need them. The guy told me i should call his manager, Rick, because when they got here and I wasn't home they checked the order and saw there was no confirmation. They called him, and he told them to do the work anyway. So they ripped out all of the repair work I just had done and did their own. I was stunned. I told them I wasn't planning on paying for any of that, and they said that wasn't their issue because they don't collect money. Then one guy added that it's no matter to them because he's working on overtime today anyway and he'll get paid no matter what. He told me again to call Rick. <br /> I came inside and called immediately the number in the email I replied to yesterday. Rick wasn't there, so I talked to the receptionist (with whom I've spoken several times now). The first thing she said was "I don't have no email from you." I was looking right at it in my sent folder and it went to both her and another receptionist in their office. Even if she hadn't checked her email yet or something, she obviously scheduled work with no confirmation. Unacceptable. NO SURPRISE HERE-- she said someone would call me back. In the end no one called me. I got a one sentence email from her, complete with spelling errors, saying there would be no charge for their error. I'm actually a little bit concerned that their work isn't as good as the repairs I already had done, but we'll have to see what happens the next time it rains. <br /> <strong>Bottom line: DON'T BOTHER with this group of people. They are unprofessional, unreliable, and will flippantly TRESPASS on your property after repeatedly being told to stay away.</strong> <br />

This job was done 17 years ago but II've been having serious issues with flooding for the past 5 years. When I purchased the enclosure I was told I had a limited lifetime warranty. I've had about five professionals from Angie's List come and look at the cinder block and concrete knee wall where the water is coming in and have been told that it had not been waterproofed properly or at all. A representative from Patio Enclosures came to look at the issue and said he'd get back to me. I then received a call from Bill Reames who told me that the issue was not their fault and that it was due to my neglect. He then told me he would give me an estimate on how much they would charge me to correct the issue. I've not heard from them again and it's been more than two weeks ago. Back in 1997 the work began in August and I was told would be completed by Halloween. The enclosure wasn't completed until after Christmas. The workers were often late and very inconsiderate with the surrounding area and my home. I thought that for $40,000 I would get more than 17 years of use. I would never recommend this company to anyone. In response to another positive review, Bill Reames said " I hope you enjoy your enclosure for years and years to come". Beware that means about 15- 20 years. Not worth the money. I wish I had just had a traditional addition built. <br />

They did a great job. They were very good. Their quality of work was perfect. It did take a while to get them out, but when they were here they spent the whole day working. They were great company to work with.

They were very accurate with their costs . They were timely and were here everyday.  There was one minor problem .  When they initially measured the height they install the roof too low and we called them and they corrected it he very next day.  The crew communicated very well, kept us informed and when we had a leak during construction someone came out on a Sunday to fix that.  I would recommend their service to others.

The installation went fine.  They were neat and did a good job.  Scheduling was fine.  We needed a cover for the awning that was also special ordered and when it came in they dropped it off.  Communication was good with them. We have no complaints.

The sun room is absolutely beautiful.  We and our cats both love it and we’re out here all the time.They were a little slow in getting started but once they got started they completed the work in about a week.  A team of 4-5 complete the work. They were good about cleaning up after themselves each day and we were  comfortable having them in our home.  When you call them, Holly is great.  She was great getting us vertical blinds. Also, when Hurricane Sandy hit, it damaged the metal roof and they came out promptly to fix this.  I’m so glad we did this.

They did a great job.  They were there when they said they were going to be there and they started and finished the work in the time frame they indicated they would.   It was put in perfectly.  I would recommend them to others.

It turned out great, we love it! The two contractors were fantastic, they were really kind. They did the work quickly and cleanly. The salesman who did the estimate and was supposed to oversee the project we had issues with initially. He was lying to the company about his communication with us. However, they fixed this issue within a day and we had a new person over seeing the job. The company handled the situation very well once we figured out what was going on. We are still waiting on communication from Patio Enclosures about when it will be inspected almost a month after the project was completed. <br />

On the plus side, the Patio Enclosures/Great Day Improvement representatives we dealt with all seemed positive and professional.  <br /> <br /> On the minus side, their consistent statements that good communication with their customers is important to them have been repeatedly proven to be untrue in the more than six months that we have dealt with them.  They are willing to call customers quickly when incremental payments are due, but neglect to do so at other times, even when problems arise with their jobs that customers should be made aware of ASAP. <br />   <br /> Joel, Paul, and the rest of the installation crew did a good job, even in inclement weather.  They take obvious pride in their work and produced a nice result for us, finally completing our project today, October 23, 2013, more than six months after we signed our contract with Patio Enclosures. <br /> <br /> The main problem we had with this company is that they are consistently terrible about communicating with us.  We signed our contract with them on April 4, 2013, and were told that the work might be completed by the end of May or mid-June 2013, depending upon the progress of the approval process, etc. <br /> <br /> There were complications that delayed the completion of the job, most of which we were not told about until we called and asked them how the project was progressing, after weeks of not hearing from them.  The General Manager, Bill Reames, came out to our house on August 7, 2013, to review the project with us and assure us that the lack of communication regarding the progress on our job to that point should not have happened, and would not happen again.  Bill Reame's assurances of timely communications in the future proved to be untrue. <br /> <br /> There was no communication from his company for three weeks after our August 7 meeting with Bill Reames.  I finally called them to ask how our job was progressing, and was told that installation was scheduled to begin on October 1, 2013.  It did begin that day, and continued through October 11, with a few delays caused by rainy weather and missing materials.  On October 11 we were told that the job would be completed on October 14.  On October 14 no one came to work on our porch.  On October 15 no one came to work on our porch.  No one called to tell us that the Patio Enclosures crew would not be coming on those days. <br /> <br /> I called Patio Enclosures on October 15, and was told that the work was now scheduled for completion on October 23, because they were waiting for the arrival of missing materials.  The "missing materials" apparently consisted of one window screen that was not delivered with the other screens and windows, despite the fact that we had been told in July 2013 that all the windows and screens had been delivered to Patio Enclosures, and were ready for installation in our porch. <br /> <br /> Patio Enclosures reps have repeatedly told us that one of the good things about their company is that they stay with each job until it is completely finished before moving on to the next job.  That did not happen in our case. <br /> <br /> Patio Enclosures reps also emphasize how important good communication with their customers is to them, but that did not happen in our case, even after Bill Reames, the General Manager, told us that we should have received and would in the future receive regular messages about the progress on our project, scheduling delays and changes, etc. <br /> <br /> As we have discussed with Bill Reames and other members of his Patio Enclosures staff repeatedly in the more than six months since signing our April 4, 2013 contract, the consistent failure of his staff to inform us of problems, scheduling changes, and delays shows a blatant lack of respect for their customers, and makes it clear that providing good, reliable customer service is not a priority with his company, despite their written and spoken assurances to the contrary. <br /> <br /> One thing that Bill Reames' office staff has been very quick about is requesting and processing payments for our window installation project. That is clearly more of a priority for them than providing timely notification of scheduling changes and delays. <br /> We are very disappointed with the repeated, obvious failures of Bill Reames' staff to notify us of problems and schedule changes, and provide us with timely updates regarding our window installation project.  That is especially true after receiving Bill Reames? personal assurances at our August 7, 2013 meeting that such a lack of communication with us would not happen again.  He was clearly wrong in that regard, whether intentionally or not. <br /> <br /> Joel and his installation crew have worked hard to produce a good result on our porch, and it is extremely unfortunate that other members of Bill Reames' Patio Enclosures staff do not share the installers? concern with providing good customer service and positive outcomes. <br />

The project was broken into 5 phases by me as some had high points while others did not. <br /> Each phase has a grade <br /> Phase 1 (D): excavation and footer <br /> <hr /> <strong>On timeliness</strong> (F): Poor if at all there were literally days when I had to find out when the crew was coming <br /> <strong>On site Planning</strong> (F): Non existent, their crew chief Luis laid out the floor plan without even asking if I was going to be there or offering himself to answer questions, he showed up, marked it out and left, without saying a word. <br /> <strong>Results (F)</strong>: Aprox 3 CU yards of Clay excavated from the footings and spread out over my existing lawn thereby killing all they grass <br /> <strong>Inspection results (A)</strong>: Pass <br /> Phase 2(C-) : decking <br /> <hr /> <strong>On timliness</strong>: (C) : better than the first crew seemed to know a bit more than the previous crew <br /> <strong>ON site planning</strong>: (F): again they showed up and started to work without ever once telling me when they were coming or what was to be done on a given day <br /> <strong>Results</strong> (B): Called GC who was very prompt and introduced me to a new supervisor (mark) Mark was an excellent resource and helped turn the job around in my opinion. <br /> <strong>Inspection result:</strong> (F) 3  failures JC (supervisor of the crew that built up the decking) never once talked to me about plans, originally built the desk 7 " too high, I had to alert him that he had done it work, all worked stopped Until RIck and Mark stepped in to take charge again. Inspector came to inspect the ledger board found it inadequate, asked for lag bolts into Block be used.  Lag bolts were used but were the wrong type  so 4 more additional of the right type of lagg bolts were used floor then passed inspection. <br /> Phase 3 (A)  installation <br /> <hr /> <strong>On timlieness</strong>: (A) showed when they said they would <br /> <strong>ON site planning:</strong> (A) excellent they consulted with me and Mark and Rick and helped establish an excellent game plan and then exceuted accord to that plan <br /> <strong>Results</strong> (A): they laid an extra layer of plywood to strengthen the floor, over lapping in different areas to provide extra strength, built an levelled to exterior matal ( aluminum) structure,  removed an existing window framed in a  new door provided wall support &  molding to cover existing voids left by the window removal <br /> Phase 4 (A) : electrical work <br /> <hr /> <strong>On timeliness</strong>: (A) Fantastic electrician Morrison electric <br /> <strong>On Site Planning </strong>(A): See review but the crew from Morrison was fantastic <br /> <strong>Results</strong> (A): excellent room that we were consulted on and made up feel like we were a valued customer <br /> <strong>Inspection:</strong>(A) excellent inspection and although bried he understood that the electrical guys really know their stuff <br /> Phase 5 (B): finishing <br /> <hr /> After all the clay had been spread over my lawn I submitted a grading plan for them to use to figure out how to regrade my property after Many long waits and no information from Luis he showed up one day and agreed to fix the project according to my plan. Grading was completed per my instructions. <br /> Notes on the people: <br /> 1) Rick ( lead GC ) he is a very quiet guy that certainly knows his stuff and was dedictaed to hewlping me get what I wanted from the project any issue brought before him was fixed <br /> 2) Mark (supervisor) excellent guy moved a dryer vent as part of the project I trusted him enough to give him a key to my house <br /> 3) Morrison electric guys  were just awesome people <br /> 4) Luis very unresponsive until I met him in person he followed my plan to a T <br /> Masonry crew - said alot of things about me in Spanish ( which I know fluently) that were not very complimentary <br /> JC - never read the building plan (I memorized the plans) and I am dubious as to his level of skill <br /> Teresa - never seemed to have the right information about things which is why i contacted rick as much as I did <br /> <strong>Things to improve upon:</strong> <br /> Communication with the customer in the first two phases <br /> Having someone on the crew that speaks English and doesn't bad mouth the owner <br /> Teaching sub trades to reads architectural drawings <br /> <strong>Things done RIGHT:</strong> <br /> Rick, Mark & crew from Morrison Electric was fantastic <br /> In the end I got what I wanted <br /> I did feel valued by Rick and Mark <br /> Jim Garner ( salesman ) was excellent <br /> <strong>Overall :</strong> <br /> BE your own general contractor as if I had not I am not sure what I would have ended up with. <br /> Process started terribly and got better with every crew, end result is I got what I wanted but I had to watch things.  I love the end result but the individual crews ( 1st two at least) should be watched like a hawk. <br /> <br /> <br />

Very good. There were delays but that was caused by snow.  They communicated well with us; for example about electrical work when the power would have to be shut off, we knew in advance. Also, to replace old door from house to old deck, they made sure we had time to notify the alarm company.  Trash left behind in our grass was minimal (and they probably missedwhat  there was because of the snow). We were very pleased overall and have recommended them to friends.  Our neighbor just used them to add a sunroom.
