We hired them to add a 4-season room to our home. Everyone who came out to do the actual work were subcontractors, and they were all great. My issues all come from the way it was managed. You can read through all the issues below. I was told these things happen. If this is how a normal project goes for Great Day Improvements I would stay away from this company. The contract said 2-4 weeks to complete the project. It was all complete 89 days after they started. Day 1 (July 24): When they were putting in posts they cut through the main electrical line. Someone from Great Day Improvements showed up at my door and asked me to take care of the repairs and they would reimburse me for repair costs. Day 6: Talked to the guys building the deck. They said their paperwork said sandstone flashing around the deck. I told them it was supposed to be white. They made a phone call and there was confusion about more paperwork showing sandstone. Day 55: My contract included the install of an Amana heat/ac unit. I waited a month after they finished the sunroom and they completely forgot to install it. I told them I want my money back for the installation of the unit. They offered me $1000. In my opinion this is way less than the cost of the unit plus installation. I was also told inspections were never completed and someone would be out in a few days to complete them. Day 62: No call back and nobody came out to compete the inspection. I called Great Day Improvements and asked to speak to a customer service rep. I got someone’s voice mail and left a message. Day 66 (Sept 28): In the last couple of days I’ve called and emailed the company several times. Around 6pm got a call from someone higher up in the company. He offered to install the heat/ac unit and give me $500 back because of the issues. I accepted his offer. Day 67: We had a leak in the sunroom. I called to have someone come out to repair it. Day 69 (Oct 1): Guys came out to install the heat/ac unit. The outlet (installed previously) was the wrong type for the Amana unit. They did some patch up work to try and fix the leak. I was told I need to wait for the electrician to come back out. Day 80 (Oct 12): Received a phone call that an inspector was out and saw the Amana heat/ac unit and it wasn’t supposed to be installed yet. I was told the unit need to be removed, the inspections done, and then, the unit put back in. Day 81: I emailed and said how upset I was and how $500 is not a fair amount of compensation, it is less than 1% of what I paid for the sunroom. I received an email back 2 hours later saying that is all they are giving me and they will complete the project. Day 87: Guys came out to remove the heat/ac unit. Inspection is supposed to be done tomorrow. Day 88: Guy came out to do final inspections Day 89: Guys came out to put the heat/ac unit back in the wall. Electrician fixed the wall outlet. I was told the wiring wasn’t right for the Amana unit, so they had to run new wiring. Project is finally complete.

Upon calling out 'local; PEI office, we were notified that they had in fact been bought out by the Cincinnati PEI office. So, we figured we would just be serviced through that office. WRONG! Apparently, what they bought was the 'franchise name' not the customer warranties. So, we now have a Lifetime Guarantee on Nothing!!!  I cannot begin to explain how infuriated we are at the fact that we spent $25k with a company that would dump their customers and not ensure that the new buyer (also called Patio Enclosures Inc) would make good on existing warranties. Probably the worst type of customer service - give your customer false piece of mind. Nowhere in the paperwork we signed for on the room's construction did it say - "Oh, if we skip town - you are left holding the bag."!!!!! <br /> I want this LIFETIME GUARANTEE HONORED!!!!!!! <br />

They had to put a slab down with barbed wired. A crack came through the concrete almost right away. They put up the sun room up perfectly and were professional and quick. I complained because I requested a glass that would not let heat in and reflect the sun back. I thought I was paying for a product that would do that but that is not the case. They did a good job with the installation but I had to have them come back multiple times because the gutters they installed kept leaking. They put an application on the roof to attempt to stop the leaks. They also lost my itemized receipt and they never provided me with one. I have had them come back many times over the years due to the sun room.  <br />

It turned out ok. After they did the initial installation they left off some pieces, which were trim pieces on the house. So it left a couple of holes on the side of the house. When the gentlemen were here my husband pointed it out to them and they said that they didn’t deal with that. He ended up calling the company back and he spoke to one of the representatives. They sent someone out to look at it. They then had to send someone other than the workers who originally did it, to fix it. They did eventually fix it but it took about 3-4 months to finish the part.

It's the shoddiest job I've seen, I've got some reports, one from a forensic engineer, and it doesn't comply with code and it's a horror story.  The sill plate the windows sit on isn't to code.  When we received their response letter on March 18th, 2010 with proposed corrections (that weren't acceptable), I had just found out I needed emergency surgery, and I put the project on hold.  So this spring, we needed to address this, we contacted our attorney, and we met with him on May 3rd, 2011.  He sent correspondence to the company and the regional manager, Dan Kubick, and they won't return any correspondence.  The windows are too tall, so we have damage to the interior of our house because there is not proper roof pitch.  The solarium leaks, is falling apart.  In the drawing, the side opposite the door was supposed to have a triangular piece of glass.  All the glass was supposed to be manufactured by Patio Enclosures but they tried to contracted out.  Now, there is a piece of plywood that has been there because it was never finished.  Because I the project wasn't done, I didn't pay them the full amount, and they had a lean put on my house.

This issue involves a Durasol E3000 Sun shade installed on the front (street side) of my house. Our issue is limited to the shade on the front of the house which is installed such that we cannot open the front casement windows. Our experience with Patio Enclosures has not been good. A call back was required because the workmen did a poor job on the original installation and they failed to bring some necessary materials. They failed to show for the call back appointment the following week. A week later, (two weeks after the original installation date) they arrived to repair the front shade and install the missing parts. They took down the front shade and reinstalled it but were unable to get the clearance necessary so we could open the windows. They went away saying that they would have to do some checking and would get back to us. After numerous calls (see timeline below) to Mr. Meffin, to the local office and to Mr. Bill Goddard, VP of Retail Operations, have gone unanswered. Promises to call back or send someone to look at the problem have not been kept. Lastly, we have discussed the problem with shade?s manufacturer, Durasol, and, based on their installation requirements, do not believe the existing shade can ever be installed in such a way that will allow us to open the casement windows. We believe Patio Enclosures was told the same and that is why they spent a month avoiding our phone calls and failing to make the necessary repairs. Their desire to do anything about this problem did not start until we wanted to cancel the contract. Here is a timeline of our experience with Patio Enclosures: 2010-04-13 Al Meffan, Patio Enclosure Salesman writes contract. We made initial payment of $1,544.00. 2010-06-02 Shades installed. We made second payment of $2,473.78. Later that day we called Patio Enclosure with a number of problems needing attention (which included inability to open front windows). Appointment made for June 10th to correct problems. 2010-06-10 Patio Enclosure did not keep repair appointment and never called to cancel/reschedule. Another appointment is made the next day for June 16th. 2010-06-16 Men arrived for repair appointment. Front shade still did not clear casement window ? We were told a salesman would call us. 2010-06-17 Mr. Meffin arrived and took pictures of front shade. Said he would check to see if Durasol had a bracket which would raise the shade housing enough to clear the windows. Said he would get back to us. 2010-07-01 to 2010-07-08 Made 3 calls to Patio Enclosures and requested information on status of Durasol shade. 2010-07-08 Ms. Parsley called and said she will call Regional Manager to contact us. She expected that the regional manager will visit us next week to discuss the exterior front blind problems. 2010-07-14 We called again and no one returned our call. 2010-07-15 Still no response from Patio Enclosures. We send letter stating we are cancelling contract an <br /> <br /> 2012-10-03 Won Small Claims suit in June 2011 - Patio Enclosures did not show. Filed claim for payment and was soon contacted by Mr Kevin Dow, CFO of Great Day Improvements. He told me that Patio Enclosures had been dissolved and the assets purchased by Great Day Improvements. He disputed that Great Day was legally required to pay my claim but that "it is our (Great Day Improvements) intention that by paying this amount we can is some small way, represent that as we do business as Patio Enclosures, we want to treat our customers respectfully and in a manner in which we would like to be treated: A check for the full settlement was received a few days later. <br /> <br /> Please consider this case closed,

Overall, it was a slow painful process. At one point we were pushed back after the demo had started because they 'forgot to order the floor'........so,my construction materials had been sitting in the warehouse since the previous fall and no one noticed the LARGE STRUCTURE missing. Finally around the end of June, they finished the room. Delay after delay really took the joy out of the construction of this room. The finished product is fine, but it's hard to get too excited after having lies and delays on a daily basis. I absolutely would not recommend Patio Enclosures to ANYONE.

It was a horrible experience. It has continued to leak and this summer I called and left them 4 messages and they are not even returning my calls. I have a patio room that leaks every time it rains. Before they had our money when I would call about it leaking they would come out the next day. We did the loan through the bank that they used. In the fine print it says not to give them the money until you are completely satisfied. I would consider a room that leaks right in the middle where you can't put any flooring down as not been satisfied. It ruined our futon and other things that were in there. I would consider it not completed. They threatened to turn us into the collection agency so we gave them the money. After that when it would rain and it would leak, we would call them back and it would take about 2 weeks for them to call us back and another 2 weeks before they would send somebody out. They have tried different things and it continues to leak. They tried to blame our roof so we had 3 different roofing companies come out and said it wasn't the roof. We had wind damage so we got a new roof anyway and it continues to leak. We didn't have much of a problem over the winter but when spring came and it started raining again it leaks. I've called the local company 3 times since the end of May and left messages on a recording. Nobody has called me back. I called the corporate line 1 1/2 weeks ago and got the name of the district manager. He was supposed to call me back and he hasn't. I told them I was going to call and report them and I have tried to be patient. They did the work over a year ago. It was a two-day process for the work and the first day there were torrential rains and water actually seeped under our door into our family room and stained the carpet. It has been one thing after another. Our neighbors actually referred them to us and they felt terrible that it happened to us. The girl that I actually have to talk to said that it was unbelievable that it wasn't our roof because she had seen pictures of it.

Initially service was very good. Laying the concrete was a 3 week process. The room structure was installed within 2days. However, the first day the structure was put up and not sealed. That night it rained and water pooled on the concrete and leaked into our house soaking carpet, pad, and subflooring by door leaving a stain. Once the room was completed it continued to have leaks in the roof, ruining our futon mattress. I would call about it and someone would come out the next day. They agreed to pay for carpet cleaning, but no mention of the futon. After the fifth repair, Patio Enclosures told us our home's roof was the cause. We had 3 seperate roofing companies evaluate and tell us it was not the roof. When I called Patio Enclosures to inform them of the report, Patti told me "Unbelievable. I've seen the pictures of your roof. There is no way it is our room!!" On a side note, we had our home's roof replaced due to wind damage 9/15/09. During this time we had issues with the loan issued by their approved bank. The letter attached to check states not to render payment until the services/supplies are delivered and installed to satisfactory condition. The initial loan approval expired 8/1/09, and we still had a leaking room. We re-applied for the loan asking for the same amount. We received a check with the same amount as the first check. While waiting for Patio Enclosures to solve the leaking roof problem, we received a certified letter stating our bill was overdue and if not paided by the following day, they would send it to a collection agency. I tried contacting manager and corporate office, however the call was always transferred to Patty. We gave Patio Enclosure the check issued to us ~9/23/09. Once payment was received, the roof continued to leak and service was downgraded. I called them on 10/2 and it took over 10 days for a call back and someone to come out. The roof continued to leak (the next day), I called again and it took over 2weeks for service. As of today it has not rained to see it this will be the final repair. Our neighbors recommended this company and now apologize weekly for the recommendation.

I was very happy with the work that they did. The engineering of their systems is great. They have built enough of these things that they know how to solve any problems that would arise. The parts that they make go together very well.

WINDOW INSTALLER WAS VERY NICE AND WORKED VERY HARD. HE WAS ALSO WILLING TO WORK AROUND OUR SCHEDULE. WINDOWS LOOK GREAT. MY ONLY COMPLAINT WAS THAT HE DID NOT CLEAN THE DUST, PAINT, ETC. THAT WAS ON THE ROOF AFTER REMOVING THE OLD WINDOWS. STILL, THEY DID A VERY GOOD JOB. THEY WERE A LITTLE UNRELIABLE WITH RETURNING PHONE CALLS BUT THE SALES REP HELPED A LOT TO GET THAT RESOLVED.

EVERYTHING ENDED UP OK BUT I DID HAVE SOME COMPLAINTS. INITIALLY THEY WERE GOING TO LEAVE ME THURS-MON WITH A HALF COMPLETED ROOF. AFTER I COMPLAINED THEY DID GET A CREW OUT ON FRIDAY. THEY DID A DECENT JOB BUT I HAD TO GET THEM TO GO BACK AND SMOOTH OUT ALL THE CAULK ON THE ROOF AND RE-GRADE THE GUTTER WHICH THE WORK CREW DID NOT WANT TO DO. ALL IN ALL IT TURNED OUT FINE, HOWEVER, AND AT A GREAT PRICE.
